Book excerpt: "En Puerto Rico existe escasa investigación relacionada a las intervenciones que llevan a cabo profesionales del Trabajo Social Escolar (en adelante TSE) con poblaciones estudiantiles sexo diversas y de identidad de género no heteronormativa del Departamento de Educación de Puerto Rico (en adelante DEPR). Esta investigación pretendió identificar las posturas que asumen las y los profesionales del trabajo social escolar ante la implementación de políticas educativas relacionadas a la diversidad sexual e identidad de género; y el analizar el establecimiento de la relación profesional de las y los TSE con estudiantes de diversidad sexual e identidad de género. Los análisis se plantean en los marcos teóricos socioconstruccionista y crítico, permitiendo establecer sus postulados con las narrativas de TSE entrevistados. La investigación tiene una metodología cualitativa con un enfoque fenomenológico, en la cual se entrevistó a seis profesionales del TSE. Entre los hallazgos se destaca la falta de actualización de las Cartas Circulares del DEPR sobre las políticas públicas que establecen guías de intervención con la población estudiantil identificada. Se suma el limitado conocimiento el conocimiento que tienen TSE sobre las cartas circulares relacionadas a la población LGTTBQ+ y a su vez, el pobre involucramiento que tienen TSE en la formulación de estas. Otro hallazgo lo es la escasez de conocimiento y la implementación de modelos basados en derechos humanos, lo cual limita que se fortalezca las intervenciones que realizan en los escenarios escolares con la población trabajada, añadiendo al asunto que no se han facilitado capacitaciones que amplíen los conocimientos de TSE y sus intervenciones con estudiantes sexo diversos y de identidad de género no heteronormativa. Además, están las implicaciones de la cuestión social en los escenarios escolares con profesionales del TSE, precarizando la fuerza laboral con el aumento de más tareas, la asignación de más cantidad de estudiantes por profesional, limitando a su vez la supervisión en trabajo social".
