Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The entire Tourism Sector faced severe challenges across the Globe due to the Pandemic (COVID-19). Several tourism service providers quit the sector, and several are thinking of switching over to other domains because of severe depletion in demand due to lockdowns and emerging uncertainties. The questions are When we will be able to come out from this Pandemic? What to do? How to run the business? How to re-strategize the existing business? What’s the use of technology in the Tourism and Hospitality business? What are the Govt. schemes and how to get the help from Govt in India? This Book tries to give answers to all of the above questions. They are also focused on tourism policy and the strategies to be adopted by the providers to sustain and revitalize the sector. The authors have conducted a PAN India study and found that in India, the tourism operators are not aware of the Govt. Relief funds, even if they are unaware that they belong to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) under the services segment. While they needed the cash credit or Operating costs very badly during the crisis, they even don't know whom to approach or what the requirements are to get the Emergency Credit Line (ECLCSS) Scheme in India.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout the United States, people are increasingly concerned about where their food comes from, how it is produced, and how its production affects individuals and their communities. The answers to these questions reveal a complex web of interactions. While large, distant farms and multinational companies dominate at national and global levels, innovative programs including farmers' markets, farm-to-school initiatives, and agritourism are forging stronger connections between people and food at local and regional levels. At all levels of the food system, energy use, climate change, food safety, and the maintenance of farmland for the future are critical considerations. The need to understand food systems--what they are, who's involved, and how they work (or don't)--has never been greater. Food, Farms, and Community: Exploring Food Systems takes an in-depth look at critical issues, successful programs, and challenges for improving food systems spanning a few miles to a few thousand miles. Case studies that delve into the values that drive farmers, food advocates, and food entrepreneurs are interwoven with analysis supported by the latest research. Examples of entrepreneurial farms and organizations working together to build sustainable food systems are relevant to the entire country--and reveal results that are about much more than fresh food.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Agrarian Landscapes in Transition researches human interaction with the earth. With hundreds of acres of agricultural land going out of production every day, the introduction, spread, and abandonment of agriculture represents the most pervasive alteration of the Earth's environment for several thousand years. What happens when humans impose their spatial and temporal signatures on ecological regimes, and how does this manipulation affect the earth and nature's desire for equilibrium? Studies were conducted at six Long Term Ecological Research sites within the US, including New England, the Appalachian Mountains, Colorado, Michigan, Kansas, and Arizona. While each site has its own unique agricultural history, patterns emerge that help make sense of how our actions have affected the earth, and how the earth pushes back. The book addresses how human activities influence the spatial and temporal structures of agrarian landscapes, and how this varies over time and across biogeographic regions. It also looks at the ecological and environmental consequences of the resulting structural changes, the human responses to these changes, and how these responses drive further changes in agrarian landscapes. The time frames studied include the ecology of the earth before human interaction, pre-European human interaction during the rise and fall of agricultural land use, and finally the biological and cultural response to the abandonment of farming, due to complete abandonment or a land-use change such as urbanization.
