Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I can remember writing poetry as early as the age of fourteen. For me, writing poems was either an expression of young love or a means of escaping farm life. I do know I write what I feel deep in my heart. Sometimes I would daydream about what life would be like after leaving the farm. At that time, I did not appreciate or value the importance of farm life. Then falling in love for the first time gave me words that would flow like water. That was the beginning of my poetry. Then came my retirement from the Air Force. I took a job as a substitute teacher to test the waters and see if I wanted to go back to the classroom. On May 23, 1995, was my last substitute teaching positions for the year. The last period of the day was a literature class, and yes, you guessed it, it was an assignment to write a poem. After directing the students on what they were to do, I sat back, thought about my daughter, who was also graduating, and at that moment, I wrote with them. The poem that came out of that session, "Life Captured," was the first in this book. After that, the words would sometimes overwhelm me. It did not matter where or when. I would sometimes wake up from a deep sleep, and there were words on my heart. Driving down the street, I would have to pull off the road. And can you imagine sitting in church, concentrating on the words of the pastor, and poem comes into your heart? That is what it was like for next few years. When the word came, I made every effort to put them on paper. If I did not have a notepad, I would write on whatever was available, a store receipts, the back of an envelope, or even a paper bag. It did not matter; I just knew I had to capture the words. You see, there was a problem with these abrupt encounters with words. I found, through experience, that I could not ignore them because if I did, they would be lost. Yes, the words that were flowing so freely at the time would be gone if I did not take heed at that exact moment. So I learned incredibly early that it did not matter when or where the words came; I had to stop everything and write them down. So you see, my poetry comes to me at times when the spirit urges it. I cannot just will a poem to be. It must be stirred up in my spirit. My poetry is a combination of spiritual and emotional love. The love for people and my love of God. I never know which will spark the flame, and that does not matter, but I do know I must be ready to put pen to paper when it happens.

This book contains inspirational poetry for those touched by physical and emotional pain or suffering. Some excerpts: Though briars leave their mark on you They painfully succeed In driving you to seek the One Wholl heal you when you bleed. And so if I at first recoil And from Your cup retreat, I ask that You remind me, Lord, The aftertaste is sweet. The pain in my life is no detour, But part of His plan from the start. Its no disadvantage that I must endure My platformdirect from His heart. You have a bright tomorrow, Though yesterday left wounds. It is these very scars Hell use To grow His choicest blooms. But my ways are not Gods ways, And He knows best, you see, The sweetest song I ever sang Birthed through the pain in me. Ones thoughts directly affect ones emotions and actions. Therefore, the author includes the truth of Scripture to replace the lies and distortions of the enemy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: But by the Grace of God... A relationship with the Lord is one that helps navigate through life's trials, bring comfort after a loved one's passing and staying focused on living for Christ to prepare for the upcoming Rapture. Author Betsy Audibert seeks to capture what a relationship with God and salvation through Jesus is all about in her new collection of Christian poetry, But by the Grace of God... To begin this description of living for Christ, Betsy starts straight from the ultimate source, the Bible, in the book's first poem, The Book. The poem shares the purpose of God's parables to mankind, while also inspiring the hope of what being a Christian provides us in faith, wisdom and love. Several poems also highlight the changing seasons of our world: from the excitement to be had during the summertime to the blossoming plants of spring to the quiet reflection that comes while indoors during the wintertime. Each poem magnifies the author's strong relationship with Jesus, depicting what salvation is for a person new to faith and the abundance of God's blessings to emerge as one releases his/her life into the hands of the Father. Heartwarming poems are also given in recognition of mothers and fathers, including one that Betsy wrote in celebration of her mother's eightieth birthday. The overall feelings within But by the Grace of God... are those of admiration and awareness of the Father's love for every person who seeks Him in faith. Betsy embodies through her poetry the belief that strengthening our spiritual connections with the Lord can strengthen our witness of Him to the unbelieving everywhere. When we realize that we have been saved by the grace of God, and it is not of our works but Jesus', then we are more equipped to share this knowledge with others before we return to our heavenly home.
