Book Synopsis Safety Fables for Today by : Laura J Cahill
Download or read book Safety Fables for Today written by Laura J Cahill and published by Troubador Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2022-04-12 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Putting a modern spin on some childhood stories, Safety Fables for Today introduces Zac and the Beanstalk, cautioning against dropped objects and falls from height; a Perilous Porridge Pot, overflowing with oats and useful insights on preventing loss of containment; a Super-Sized Swede presenting big manual handling challenges, and updated versions of many other familiar tales too. In embarking upon this journey, Laura J Cahill draws on the power of storytelling, helped by a liberal sprinkling of fairy dust and the company of some fictional folk along the way, providing fresh thought for those seeking to properly manage their activities, and a gentle bedtime read for anyone else with a passing interest in the field of health and safety. Needless to say, there’s more to these tales and their characters than first meets the eye – not least because of the insights they offer to organisations seeking to control real-world risks, reinvigorate health and safety agendas, and secure happy endings of their own. Through understanding the messages conveyed by these fictional players and addressing these within their own workplace settings, readers can play their part in ensuring that beyond simply living happily, workers remain injury-free, enjoy good health, and live safely ever after too.

Book Synopsis The 4 Stages of Psychological Safety by : Timothy R. Clark
Download or read book The 4 Stages of Psychological Safety written by Timothy R. Clark and published by Berrett-Koehler Publishers. This book was released on 2020-03-03 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first practical, hands-on guide that shows how leaders can build psychological safety in their organizations, creating an environment where employees feel included, fully engaged, and encouraged to contribute their best efforts and ideas. Fear has a profoundly negative impact on engagement, learning efficacy, productivity, and innovation, but until now there has been a lack of practical information on how to make employees feel safe about speaking up and contributing. Timothy Clark, a social scientist and an organizational consultant, provides a framework to move people through successive stages of psychological safety. The first stage is member safety-the team accepts you and grants you shared identity. Learner safety, the second stage, indicates that you feel safe to ask questions, experiment, and even make mistakes. Next is the third stage of contributor safety, where you feel comfortable participating as an active and full-fledged member of the team. Finally, the fourth stage of challenger safety allows you to take on the status quo without repercussion, reprisal, or the risk of tarnishing your personal standing and reputation. This is a blueprint for how any leader can build positive, supportive, and encouraging cultures in any setting.
Book Synopsis Burn Your Safety Manual Today and Thank Me Tomorrow by : Keith Odom
Download or read book Burn Your Safety Manual Today and Thank Me Tomorrow written by Keith Odom and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2018-09-24 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, despite the title, is a book about managing safety. It’s looking at the safety field as a whole from a different angle to see where improvements can be made. It’s also moving away from the word “safety” and taking a more practical approach that may be more accepted by employees that will, in turn, help with compliance. Sometimes, we need to back up and look at things in a different angle and change what needs changing. “Safety” is probably one of the most boring words in the English language, so it has an uphill climb no matter where you are in your safety program. It always needs help. It’s about being efficient with the materials we give employees that has value, not check-the-box, empty-content-type stuff.

Book Synopsis Forestry Camp: Guide and Practical by : Affendy Hassan
Download or read book Forestry Camp: Guide and Practical written by Affendy Hassan and published by Universiti Malaysia Sabah Press. This book was released on 2022-05-12 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) through the Faculty of Tropical Forestry (formerly known as School of InternationalTropical Forestry) have conducted forestry camp in the Forestry education curriculum since it was introduced in 2000. Every year, we bring the students sometimes two troops in a year to train them as a forester. At the same time, the lecturers and staff prepare the teaching materials and equipment needed for the camp, and of course, we teach them relatively similar content every year by the respective lecturer or expert with staff assistance. Indeed, writing this book is not an easy job when we have so many ideas but quite challenging to transform in a book due to time constraints and other commitments by the lecturers for many years. However, we got the motivation that we want the best for our students and we have experience in coordinating forest camps for many years. Therefore, we wrote this book to provide a guide and practical to the students about forestry camp for learning, forest mentoring, both theoretical and practical as a compliment in achieving forester values in the related forestry discipline, hard skills as well as soft skills. More than that, this book is also intended to reach a broad audience on basic knowledge about how to survive in the forest, introduction on some wild edible plant and non-forest resources, birds, wildlife, forest recreation as well as camping hazard management for those people who are intended for organizing camping in the forest. We hope that this publication provides invaluable insights that may help not only forestry students but also the people who love and enjoy the forest.
