Download or read book Jabari Jumps written by Gaia Cornwall and published by Candlewick Press. This book was released on 2020-10-06 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Working up the courage to take a big, important leap is hard, but Jabari is almost absolutely ready to make a giant splash. Jabari is definitely ready to jump off the diving board. He’s finished his swimming lessons and passed his swim test, and he’s a great jumper, so he’s not scared at all. “Looks easy,” says Jabari, watching the other kids take their turns. But when his dad squeezes his hand, Jabari squeezes back. He needs to figure out what kind of special jump to do anyway, and he should probably do some stretches before climbing up onto the diving board. In a sweetly appealing tale of overcoming your fears, newcomer Gaia Cornwall captures a moment between a patient and encouraging father and a determined little boy you can’t help but root for.
Download or read book Jumped In written by Patrick Flores-Scott and published by Henry Holt and Company (BYR). This book was released on 2013-08-27 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sam has the rules of slackerhood down: Don't be late to class. Don't ever look the teacher in the eye. Develop your blank stare. Since his mom left, he has become an expert in the art of slacking, especially since no one at his new school gets his intense passion for the music of the Pacific Northwest—Nirvana, Hole, Sleater-Kinney. Then his English teacher begins a slam poetry unit and Sam gets paired up with the daunting, scarred, clearly-a-gang-member Luis, who happens to sit next to him in every one of his classes. Slacking is no longer an option—Luis will destroy him. Told in Sam's raw voice and interspersed with vivid poems, Jumped In by Patrick Flores-Scott is a stunning debut novel about differences, friendship, loss, and the power of words.
Book Synopsis Recent Progress in Conformal Geometry by : Abbas Bahri
Download or read book Recent Progress in Conformal Geometry written by Abbas Bahri and published by Imperial College Press. This book was released on 2007 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a new front of research in conformal geometry, on sign-changing Yamabe-type problems and contact form geometry in particular. New ground is broken with the establishment of a Morse lemma at infinity for sign-changing Yamabe-type problems. This family of problems, thought to be out of reach a few years ago, becomes a family of problems which can be studied: the book lays the foundation for a program of research in this direction. In contact form geometry, a cousin of symplectic geometry, the authors prove a fundamental result of compactness in a variational problem on Legrendrian curves, which allows one to define a homology associated to a contact structure and a vector field of its kernel on a three-dimensional manifold. The homology is invariant under deformation of the contact form, and can be read on a sub-Morse complex of the Morse complex of the variational problem built with the periodic orbits of the Reeb vector-field. This book introduces, therefore, a practical tool in the field, and this homology becomes computable.

In Suzanne Macpherson's delightful new novel, one woman is about to find out the truth about life, love, and hair color . . . Patricia Stillwell went to sleep a brunette and woke up blonde! That experimental weight-loss program she went on had an unexpected—but not completely unwelcome—side effect. Suddenly, the men are taking notice, Patti's taking leave of her senses . . . and she's having the time of her life! First, there's Brett Nordquist—he's rich and handsome, but what can Patti truly expect from a man who's so obviously a player? Next, there's Paul Costello—one blazing moment of passion makes her wonder what she's been missing. What will happen when Patti morphs back into her former dark-haired self? And does Paul have to start looking so dangerously delicious? With more choices than there are shades of Miss Clairol, Patti makes her decision—but is it the right one?

Book Synopsis Mathematical Finance by : Ernst Eberlein
Download or read book Mathematical Finance written by Ernst Eberlein and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-12-03 with total page 774 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Taking continuous-time stochastic processes allowing for jumps as its starting and focal point, this book provides an accessible introduction to the stochastic calculus and control of semimartingales and explains the basic concepts of Mathematical Finance such as arbitrage theory, hedging, valuation principles, portfolio choice, and term structure modelling. It bridges thegap between introductory texts and the advanced literature in the field. Most textbooks on the subject are limited to diffusion-type models which cannot easily account for sudden price movements. Such abrupt changes, however, can often be observed in real markets. At the same time, purely discontinuous processes lead to a much wider variety of flexible and tractable models. This explains why processes with jumps have become an established tool in the statistics and mathematics of finance. Graduate students, researchers as well as practitioners will benefit from this monograph.
