Book excerpt: Six accomplished photographers--Jerry Burchfield, Mark Chamberlain, Jacques Garnier, Rob Johnson, Douglas McCulloh, and Clayton Spada--known as The Legacy Project, aided by 400 artists, experts, and volunteers, transformed an abandoned southern California F-18 jet hangar, located at the Marine Corps Air Station El Toro (MCAS El Toro) in Orange County, into the largest camera ever made and then proceeded to produce the world's largest photograph, The Great Picture. The image is an enormous panoramic landscape of the California desert beyond the air station, which is destined to become the heart of the Orange County Great Park. On July 12, 2006, The Legacy Project unveiled the world's largest photograph at a special reception held inside the world's largest camera. It has been exhibited only twice since then during a short viewing at Art Center College of Design, South Campus Wind Tunnel, Pasadena, California in 2007, and most recently this past winter at Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China. However, for the first time, Sweeney Art Gallery/Culver Center's presentation of The Great Picture will be accompanied by additional components that explore details behind its making and those who made it possible. The Legacy Project has shown their work in more than 30 exhibitions in the United States and abroad. The Legacy Project will continue to work through 2017 as El Toro is transformed into the Orange County Great Park. SELLING POINTS: *The Great Picture is a history-making gelatin silver photograph three stories high by eleven stories wide, produced by six accomplished photographers known as The Legacy Project *The image was made using a shuttered southern California F-18 jet hanger transformed into an enormous camera obscura- the largest camera ever made ILLUSTRATIONS: 132 colour & 38 b/w illustrations

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The preface of this book tells that even though voyages are called mere "trips," distant lands didn't get more familiar. As the world became more open and voyages more often, the differences between foreign lands and continents became more evident as ever. This truth remains topical even today, 120 years after these words were put down on paper. Now "With the World's Great Travelers" lets you make a personal voyage through distance and time and see the most outstanding example of travel history in the world's literature. The book consists of essays by multiple authors, like Edward A. Pollard, a notable American Journalist; Charles Darwin, a famous scientist; Meriwether Lewis, a renowned explorer, one of the leaders of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, William Howard Russell, the most celebrated foreign journalist in America during the times of the Civil War and many others. This work gives a deep insight into how the world and traveling looked a century ago.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As seen on CBS Sunday Morning · A hilarious pictorial parody of a clueless father and his adorable daughter In an attempt to create an image that his new daughter would one day appreciate, Dave Engledow took a photo in which he's cradling eight-week-old Alice Bee like a football and doctored it to look like he's squirting breast milk into a "World's Best Father" mug. Friends and family clamored for more. After Dave's humorous attempts to capture the sleep-deprived obliviousness of being a first-time dad went viral, he and Alice Bee found themselves bona fide Internet and television celebrities. Merging a Norman Rockwell aesthetic with a darkly comic sensibility, Dave pairs each side-splittingly funny image with a log entry describing the awkward situation that the World's Best Father has found himself in. Hilarious and heartwarming, Confessions of the World's Best Father is a celebration of the early years of parenthood.
