Assumption is inevi table, but we must know when we are assuming and when we are reasoning upon what has been assumed. The one difficulty with present day Pragmatism is that in the hands of many disciples it results in general looseness of intellectual procedure. The will to believe is all-essential but the will must be an enlightened one, making its choices rationally and reasoning about them in a logical manner.
