Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An underwater country full of mythical creatures lived in the middle of the ocean, deep inside the darkest parts. There were mermaids, sea turtles, octopuses, and a beautiful sea dragon named Drako living in this country, which was unlike any other. Each of these animals has its own special skills, and the lessons of working together, being kind, and celebrating differences have shaped their lives. People know mermaids for their beautiful voices and love of music. They lived in the middle of the country below the sea. Marin was one of them, and her voice could calm the roughest seas. Marina's voice once led a lost fish named Finn back to safety after a seahorse named Sammy asked her to. Sammy went up to Marina and asked her to help him find his brave friend Finn, who had gone into a cave deep in the water that wasn't supposed to be there and hadn't come back. Because she was scared, Marina agreed to use her special voice to help Finn get back home safely. Marina's words cut a bright path that led Finn back to the coral reef he knew and put him in touch with Sammy again. Finn and Sammy's bond grew stronger, and they never went far from home without being with each other. One of the old and wise sea turtles that lived in the deeper parts of the water was Terrance. He wore a shell with pretty designs that showed how the water had changed over time. Oliver was a young octopus who wanted to know what his fate was. Terrance told him to follow his dreams and see the wonders of the deep ocean. Through his art, Oliver brought joy to the underwater kingdom by painting bright pictures on the ocean floor. He did this while keeping Terrance's knowledge close to his heart. Over time, the creatures that lived under the sea continued to live together and share their knowledge and skills, turning the ocean into a thriving and diverse society. But then there was a big storm on the water that looked like it would destroy everything in its way. A brave sea dragon named Drako showed up in the middle of this disaster. Drako sang a song of peace and calm because he knew how to calm storms and control currents. The storm finally calmed down, and the underwater kingdom was saved. The animals in the underwater kingdom got together to sing a special song to honor Drako's bravery and kindness. That song that echoed over the water made them think of how strong friendship can be and how magical the sea was. So, the mythical animals lived happily underwater, appreciating their individual skills and the lessons they had learned from each other over the course of their lives. In their world of magic and wonder, every day was a journey, and they loved every living thing. They lived happily ever after in the beautiful world of mythical animals, which shows how beautiful the ocean still is. The Story's Start: Under the seas, in the middle of the ocean's depths that no one could reach, there was a magical and amazing world. Mythical animals of all kinds and sizes lived in this underwater area that was unlike any other. There were amazing things these people could do, and their stories were woven into the fabric of the aquatic world. Mermaids were some of the most beautiful creatures in this watery world. The beautiful music was being played by these graceful beings, whose upper bodies looked like ethereal humans and their bottom bodies looked like smooth, iridescent fish. They got together on bright coral reefs to sing beautiful songs, with voices that blended together like the sweetest harmony. Each mermaid had a unique voice, and their melodies could make people feel strong feelings, calm rough seas, and even heal sea creatures that were hurt. There was one mermaid that stood out from the rest. Marin was her name, and her voice was magical in a way that no one else could match. The ocean seemed to hold its breath when Marina sang because of her beautiful voice. People thought that her melodies could heal hurt hearts and her singing could calm even the roughest storms. She was a marine guardian, and the people who lived in the underwater kingdom found comfort and hope in her songs. Another unique species did well in the ocean's depths: sea turtles, which are very old and smart. These huge beings were known for being smart and able to see into the past and future. Terrance was a very old sea turtle, and his shell had beautiful patterns on it that showed how the water had changed over time. Everyone who went to him for help respected him. Oliver, a little octopus who was very interested, came up to Terrance one day, full of questions. Oliver asked with his eight quick arms, "Terrance, can you tell me what the future holds for me?"

Marina wants to have fun and see new places. It is said that the famous diamond is hidden deep in the Abyss of Shadows, where the old sea dragon Seraphine watches over it. People know that it can keep the water and the creatures that live in it safe. Because she wants to protect her home, Coral Cove, especially since a storm is coming, Marina sets out to find the diamond with the help of Delfin, her loyal dolphin friend. Their trip is full of both wonderful and difficult things. They find a school of bright fish that points them in the right direction as they make their way through the kelp woods. As Marina and Delfin travel through the Sea of Whispers, they come across talking seashells that try to lead them astray. In the middle of the ocean, they meet Ollie, the octopus prophet. He tells them a puzzle that is very important to the mission's success. After that, they meet three old turtles who want to test Marina's determination by giving her a race against the clock. They will give her a faster way to get to the Abyss of Shadows if she wins. Then they learn how to be careful and graceful as they swim through an amazing dance of jellyfish. As they get closer to the dark and scary Abyss of Shadows, they meet Seraphine. Seraphine is not a monster, despite what most people think. She is the Heart's guardian. Marina is put to the test when she says that the real Heart Guardian must be brave, smart, and have a clean heart. Marina comes back with the Heart of the Ocean, and Delfin stands outside of Coral Cove to watch the storm. When Marina uses the gem to stop the storm, it shows how brave and strong she really is. She not only watches over her home on the trip, but she also collects sea creatures to honor how brave she was. Marina learns at the end of the story that her adventures and the friends she makes along the way are what make her experience truly valuable. The Heart of the Ocean had a lot of power, but what really made it magical was how it taught and brought together the people who lived under the ocean. Marina ends her story as a protector of the sea, a hero, and a lighthouse of hope for Coral Cove. Her friends and family will always be there for her, and she's ready for any new adventures that come her way. Chapter 1: What Marina Wants Marinera was a happy little fairy with eyes the color of the ocean. Coral Cove was her home. It was a busy underwater community where many kinds of fish swam among the coral and seahorses danced in the sea grass. Marina loved living in Coral Cove, but she often found herself looking off into space, wondering what lay beyond the calm waters of Coral Cove. The sea turtles and dolphins that used to visit the cove told her many stories, and her heart longs for excitement and travel. In all of these stories, she was most interested in the one about the Heart of the Ocean. The Heart of the Ocean was a legendary stone that was unlike any other rock. It was said to have amazing powers that could keep the sea safe and peaceful. The story said that the gem were as peaceful as the deepest sea and as beautiful as a thousand sunsets. It was said to be in the Abyss of Shadows, a faraway place where secrets and spells keep watch. Every day, Marina became more interested in the Heart of the Ocean. She thought about how beautiful and strong the jewel was, beating like the ocean's heart. She was thrilled at the thought of going on such an adventure. She also wanted to see the diamond for herself so she could feel its power and maybe use it to help protect the land she loved. Marina knew the trip would not be easy because the sea was full of both danger and beauty. However, her desire to reach the Ocean's Heart was stronger than the waves. Every night, Marina would look up at the sky and pray in silence to find the Ocean's Heart. The moonlight dancing on the waves was her prayer. She imagined herself meeting new people, facing challenges with courage, and bravely traveling through waters that had not been explored before. She felt very connected to the ocean and all the living things in it. She thought that finding the Heart of the Ocean would make them all feel safe and calm. Marina's request wasn't just a wild dream; it was a call to action, a wish to make changes in the huge, unknown world below the water. She knew that one day, her bravery and interest would take her on a trip to the Heart of the Ocean that had never been done before. There, she would learn what friendship and courage are really all about. Thanks to her strong will and the support of her friends and family in Coral Cove, Marina was ready to go on the most exciting trip of her life. Chapter 2: There is a story about an elder. Time passed, and Marina's desire for excitement grew. She chose to ask the village elder, who was the most respected man in Coral Cove, for advice. Turtleton was the elder. It was an old and wise turtle that had been in the water longer than any fish could remember. He had lived a long time and seen a lot. The stories he told were like treasures found deep in the ocean. At the Great Coral Arch, Marina found the elder. The rainbow-colored corals there make a natural entrance. With love and joy in her heart, she walked toward him. It beat like a sea anemone's soft flutter. "Elder Turtleton, tell me where I can find the Heart of the Ocean. I'd like to learn more about it," Marina whispered into the wind. Turtleton looked at Marina with longing in his eyes, which were full of ancient knowledge. He was told that the way to the Heart of the Ocean would be dangerous and difficult in ways that no young fish had ever faced. But he saw in Marina a bravery and determination that made him think of ancient seafaring fighters. The secret he had kept for so long was finally going to be told to her. Turtleton spoke slowly to make sure Marina was paying attention. "The Abyss of Shadows” is the most mysterious and dangerous place under the sea. The water is as dark as the night sky and sunlight can't reach." "But the greatest challenge is the guardian of the Heart, Seraphine, the ancient sea dragon," he said. Turtleton's voice was as deep as the sea. When Marina heard Seraphine's name, her eyes got really big with shock and worry. People have told her stories about sea dragons, which are very smart and strong animals, but she never thought she would get to see one for real. It's a place that not many people have seen and even fewer have come back from," Turtleton said. "Seraphine is a mighty guardian, tasked with protecting the Heart of the Ocean from those who would use its power for harm. To reach the Heart, one must prove their worth to Seraphine, showing courage, wisdom, and a pure heart."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: *Includes pictures *Includes accounts of legendary sea monsters *Includes online resources and a bibliography for further reading The oceans of the world have always had an air of mystery. About 71% of the Earth's surface is covered by water, and until the 20th century no one had plumbed its depths. Even today the bigger seas and oceans remain a largely unexplored frontier, with new species being discovered every year. Thus it comes as no surprise that countless legends have arisen of strange creatures lurking in the depths. What follows is just a sampling of these stories, including sightings of unusual sea creatures by experienced witnesses in the 19th, 20th, and even 21st centuries. The idea that there might be large species still swimming in the oceans that haven't been classified by marine biologists isn't as far-fetched as it might sound. For example, the megamouth shark (Megachasma pelagios) was entirely unknown to science until a U.S. Naval vessel off the coast of Hawaii accidentally skewered one on its anchor. The megamouth shark is a deepwater shark that can reach up to 18 feet in length, making it quite a large creature to go unnoticed for so long. In fact, since its accidental discovery, fewer than a hundred specimens have been spotted and the species had only been filmed three times. The Peruvian beaked whale (Mesoplodon peruvians) was discovered the same year and not formally described until 1991. Very little is known about this small species of whale that has only been seen off the west coast of Central and South America. Even more poorly known is the Spade-toothed whale (Mesoplodon traversii), which was first documented in 1872 thanks to the discovery of a partial jaw in New Zealand. It wasn't recognized as a distinct species until a partial skull was found in 1986, and no complete body was found until two specimens washed ashore in New Zealand in 2010. The fact that an entire species of whale is known to exist and yet no one has ever seen one alive adds fuel to the imagination of any monster hunter, who insists that there may be even more intriguing unknown species waiting to be discovered. Cryptozoology is the science that investigates these creatures, which investigators generally call "cryptids". The word is made up of the Greek stem "kryptos" (hidden) and suffix "zoology" (study of animals), thus cryptozoology is the study of hidden, as-yet-undiscovered animals. Cryptozoologists are quick to point out that they are not searching for alien beings or occult creatures; they do not hunt UFOs or ghosts. They are serious scientists, some amateur and some with professional degrees, who want to find, study, and protect these rare species. Sea Monsters: A History of Creatures from the Haunted Deep in Legend and Lore profiles the various sea creatures that people have told tales about for centuries, from ancient sources and doubtful legends to sightings by more reliable witnesses, such as ship's captains and naturalists. Along with pictures of important people, places, and events, you will learn about legendary sea monsters like never before.
