Book Synopsis The Turkish Chamber by : Holger Schuckelt
Download or read book The Turkish Chamber written by Holger Schuckelt and published by Deutscher Kunstverlag. This book was released on 2010 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Türckische Cammer once owned by the Electors of Saxony is one of the most important collections of its kind worldwide. Unlike the so-called 'Turkish Booty' of the late 17th century, the Electors amassed an exotic collection over several centuries that had little to do with the looting engaged in by Saxon troops on campaigns against the Ottoman Empire. Much more important for this collection, which goes back to the 16th century, were diplomatic presents, an active acquisitions policy and works executed on commission. With the re-opening of the Türckische Cammer after a lapse of nearly seventy years, Dresden has gained another world-class museum to complement the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister and the Green Vault. In a survey of the collection, which is, of course, much larger, the catalogue showcases fifty choice pieces from the Ottoman period, featuring costumes, showy weapons and exquisite oriental equestrian accoutrements.

This book was released on 2020-04-25 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Russian Federation has been recognized with the strategy called as “Putin Doctrine” at the beginning of the 21st century. Accordingly, the West is no longer a reliable partner of Russia. The sovereignty of the post-Soviet countries is under the protection of Russia. Russian World and Russian Orthodoxy have become strong. Today, the term “Russia’s Way” has become almost acceptable throughout the world. Therefore, Russia began to be recognized as a society and state that has not accepted or want to accept the philosophy of “the way of common reason”. In both domestic and foreign policy, there is no effective force that can oppose this ‘special’ situation to Russia. Russian poet and diplomat Fyodor Ivanovich Tyutchev says in his famous quatrain: Russia can’t be understood with the mind alone, No ordinary yardstick can span her greatness: She stands alone, unique – In Russia, one can only believe. This aphorism is the most common phrase that describes Russia. According to Tyutchev, if we want to understand Russia, it is necessary to “believe it”. To understand the role of the “savior” that the Russians have assigned to them since history, it is necessary to know their history, foreign policy and security doctrines. When you read this book I’m sure you can find answers to some of these questions. In this book, the change and transformation of Russia in Putin Period and the general reasons of these policies are explained. In addition to this book, I would also recommend you to read our book “Is Russia & Turkey Eurasian Pact Possible?” In addition to the general reader, this book has been prepared to provide guidance to experts, diplomats and students working in the field of “Security Studies”, “Political Science and International Relations” and “History”. I wish you a good reading.

Download or read book The Revolution of 1908 in Turkey written by Aykut Kansu and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-10-11 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a detailed account and an excellent narrative history of the often neglected period 1906-1908 in Turkey, in which the prelude and aftermath of the revolution and elections of 1908 took place. The year 1908 opened a new era of representative government and the social and political developments leading to the overthrow of the ancien régime are carefully and fascinatingly given. Historians and general readers will find The Revolution of 1908 in Turkey a thought-provoking book, which will resound in the discussion of the validity of Kemalist or quasi-Kemalist historiography and therefore provide a major contribution to the field.
