Book Synopsis Metal Interactions with Boron Clusters by : Russell N. Grimes
Download or read book Metal Interactions with Boron Clusters written by Russell N. Grimes and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Molecular clusters, in the broad sense that the term is commonly understood, today comprise an enormous class of species extending into virtually every important area of chemistry: "naked" metal clusters, transition metal carbonyl clusters, hydrocarbon cages such as cubane (C H ) and dodecahedrane (C H ), 8 8 20 20 organometallic cluster complexes, enzymes containing Fe S or MoFe S 4 4 3 4 cores, high polymers based on carborane units, and, of course, the many kinds of polyhedral borane species. So large is the area spanned by these diverse classes that any attempt to deal with them comprehensively in one volume would, to say the least, be ambitious-and also premature. We are presently at a stage where intriguing relationships between the various cluster families are becoming apparent (particularly in terms of bonding descriptions), and despite large dif ferences in their chemistry an underlying unity is gradually developing in the field. For example, structural changes occurring in Fe S cores as electrons are 4 4 pumped in and out, in some measure resemble those observed in boranes and carboranes. The cleavage of alkynes via incorporation into carborane cages and subsequent cage rearrangement, a sequence familiar to boron chemists, is a thermodynamically favored process which may be related to the behavior of unsaturated hydrocarbons on metal surfaces; analogies of this sort have drawn attention from theorists and experimentalists.
Book Synopsis Organometallic Syntheses by : R. Bruce King
Download or read book Organometallic Syntheses written by R. Bruce King and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 686 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organometallic Syntheses, Volume 3 focuses on the synthesis of compounds containing carbon-metal bonds, including ligands, compounds, chlorides, and derivatives. The selection first elaborates on bis(cyclopentadienyl) organolanthanide and organoyttrium chloride, methyl, and hydride complexes and base stabilized alkali metal halide adducts of bis (pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) lanthanide chlorides. The text then examines cyclopentadienyl metal carbonyl and nitrosyl derivatives, ferrocenylamine, cobalticinium and rhodicinium salts, and alkyl transition metal derivatives. The publication takes a look at transition metal complexes containing organophosphorus ligands, transition metal derivatives containing chalcogen ligands, and coinage metal derivatives. The text also reviews transition metal organometallic compounds, including compounds of group IA, IIA, IIB, and IVA. The selection is a vital reference for researchers interested in the synthesis of compounds containing carbon-metal bonds.

Download or read book Metal Catalyzed Cascade Reactions written by Thomas J.J. Müller and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-06-27 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights cyclization via carbopalladation and acylpalladation and Heck-pericyclic sequences. They discuss p-allyl palladium-based cascade reactions, Michael-type additions as an entry to transition-metal-promoted cyclizative transformations, and sequential or consecutive palladium-catalyzed processes, and show Pauson-Khand cascades, metal-catalyzed cyclizations of acyclic precursors, as well as cascade and sequential ruthenium-catalyzed transformations. This is a comprehensive overview of an exciting and highly dynamic, and innovative methodological concept.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carbonylation reactions are of major importance in both organic and industrial chemistry. Due to the availability, price and reactivity pattern, carbon monoxide is becoming a more and more important building block for fine and bulk chemicals. The major reaction types of carbon monoxide are comprehensively discussed by leading experts from academia and industry. The authors highlight important carbonylation reactions such as hydroformylation, alkoxy-carbonylations, co/olefin-copolymerization, Pauson-Khand reactions and others. They illustrate applications in organic synthesis and give industrial examples. This volume is designed to provide graduate students and researchers with essential information on the use of carbon monoxide in organic synthesis. Therefore, the reader will get a balanced view of this developing and complex subject.
Book Synopsis Metal Catalysts in Olefin Polymerization by : Zhibin Guan
Download or read book Metal Catalysts in Olefin Polymerization written by Zhibin Guan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-03-31 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polyolefin is a major industry that is important for our economy and impacts every aspect of our lives. The discovery of new transition metal-based catalysts is one of the driving forces for the further advancement of this field. Whereas the classical heterogeneous Ziegler-Natta catalysts and homogeneous early transition metal metallocene catalysts remain the workhorses of the polyolefin industry, in roughly the last decade, tremendous progress has been made in developing non-metallocene-based olefin polymerization catalysts. Particularly, the discovery of late transition metal-based olefin polymerization catalysts heralds a new era for this field. These late transition metal complexes not only exhibit high activities rivaling their early metal counterparts, but more importantly they offer unique properties for polymer architectural control and copolymerization with polar olefins. In this book, the most recent major breakthroughs in the development of new olefin polymerization catalysts, including early metal metallocene and non-metallocene complexes and late transition metal complexes, are discussed by leading experts. The authors highlight the most important discoveries in catalysts and their applications in designing new polyolefin-based functional materials.
Book Synopsis New Aspects of Zirconium Containing Organic Compounds by : Ilan Marek
Download or read book New Aspects of Zirconium Containing Organic Compounds written by Ilan Marek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-02-18 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metal carbene complexes have made their way from organometallic curiosities to valuable reagents and catalysts. They offer novel synthetic opportunities in carbon-carbon bond formation based on either carbene-centered reactions or on metal-templated processes which makes them indispensable in modern synthetic methodology. The most prominent metal carbenes are now either commercially available or easy to synthesize and handle with modern laboratory techniques. This volume organized in eight chapters written by the leading scientists in the field illustrates the theoretical background, non-classical nucleophilic and cycloaddition patterns, chromium-templated benzannulation and photo-induced reactions, rhodium-catalyzed carbene transfer as well as the principles and applications of olefin metathesis which has coined the progress in synthetic methodology over the past decade. Designed for researchers in academia and industry as well as graduate students it presents the state-of-the-art potential of carbene complexes in modern organic synthesis.

Special attention is given to synthetic strategies, reaction mechanism and chemical kinetics of these systems. The introductory chapter provides a useful overview and places the topic of the book into a wider context. This text will be a valuable reference to workers both inside and outside the field, including graduate students and young investigators interested in developing new research programs in this area.
