Book excerpt: Bachelor Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Tourism - Miscellaneous, grade: 1, , course: Tourism Managment, language: English, abstract: This study discusses the role played by Morogoro residents in promoting Tanzania’s tourism industry. The study used a total of 30 respondents. Data was collected through questionnaires. Data analysis was done using SPSS program (20 versions) and presented in form of tables and percentages. Findings show that the most used promotion channel by Morogoro residents are TVs and Radios because a great number of people have access to TVs and Radios and believe it’s easy to reach them using these channels. Respondents also mentioned social media to be thesecond most used promotion channel, on the grounds that a lot of people have access to the internet and own multiple social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter and it’s very easy to reach them that way. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the government support the promotion activities by reducing the cost of adverts at least on government broadcasting channels like government owed TV and radio stations and newspaper, this will easy the cost of other tourism stakeholders like the local communities in Morogoro municipal and tour operators to make adverts and air them to the public through mass media.

Part I covers continent-wide issues such as climate change, ICT, heritage and development. The remaining parts are organised along geographic lines, with each chapter covering the development of tourism, current trends and discussion of critical issues such as community participation, gender, backpacking, urban tourism, wildlife tourism and conservation. Combining an overview of key theories, concepts, contemporary issues and debates, this book will be a valuable resource for students, academics and practitioners investigating the role of tourism in Africa.

Book excerpt: Both realism and justice demand that efforts to conserve biological diversity address human needs as well. The most promising hope of accomplishing such a goal lies in locally based conservation efforts -- an approach that seeks ways to make local communities the beneficiaries and custodians of conservation efforts. Natural Connections focuses on rural societies and the conservation of biodiversity in rural areas. It represents the first systematic analysis of locally based efforts, and includes a comprehensive examination of cases from around the world where the community-based approach is used. The book provides: an overview of community-based conservation in the context of the debate over sustainable development, poverty, and environmental decline case studies from the developed and developing worlds -- Indonesia, Peru, Australia, Zimbabwe, Costa Rica, the United Kingdom -- that present detailed examples of the locally based approach to conservation a review of the principal issues arising from community-based programs an agenda for future action

Book excerpt: Mountainous and rural areas throughout the world have continually been attributed with several hinderances including poverty, faulty governance, and susceptibility to natural disasters. However, with the recent development of tourism, these provinces have seen a strong rise in visitation. Despite this increase in economic sustainability, planners are still presented with many challenges as they try to balance developmental and ecological considerations. Global Opportunities and Challenges for Rural and Mountain Tourism provides emerging research exploring the integration of mountain tourism development and innovative practices for managing contemporary issues and challenges of tourism in these regions including socio-economic impacts, role of stakeholders, and promotional strategies for sustainable tourism development. Featuring coverage on a broad range of topics such as cultural heritage, marketing strategies, and value chain systems, this book is ideally designed for travel agents, tour directors, tour developers, hotel managers, hospitality and tourism professionals, industry practitioners, researchers, geographical scientists, planners, academicians, and students.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The publication of the second edition of The Economics of Tourism is a timely contribution to the theory and practice of tourism. The book retains both the rigour and relevance to the study of tourism as the original text which is considered to be the gold standard of tourism economics and is a must for those who study and undertake research into tourism from economic, environmental and social perspectives." Professor Haiyan Song, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, HK "This Second Edition is a "Wikipedia" of tourism economic research and strategic thinking and a must read for academic, corporate and policy thinkers. It builds on the earlier solid economic analysis of the sector to reflect contemporary geopolitical and socioeconomic issues. Going beyond a globalizing, poverty divided world to one where climate, population, resources and the green economy are dominant issues. We are proud of its genesis and continuing association with TTRI." Professor Geoffrey Lipman, University of Nottingham, UK
