In this regard, the minority in the country is not given much attention to democratic rights. They do not establish their own state, they may not use their language and are dependent on their political involvement. To address this problem, it is a federal and regional state recognized by the constitution of FDRE and the regions that have been the most responsible for the establishment of their own state. In other words, the region has assumed its constitutional right to enact these laws. In this article, however, the Gambela People's National state had formed with five ethnic groups and the political participation of minorities are acknowledged. Based on this knowledge, the Komo people political and social involvement and the regional government accommodation will be inscribed.

Ethiopia, as signatory of these international human right instruments, the FDRE constitution stipulates the right to political participation right of all Nation, Nationalities and People of the country without any discrimination. However, regional states, like Benishangul-Gumuz, had face serious criticism that ‘non-indigenous’ people are face serious problem in the enjoyment of their right to political participation. This research has aimed to assess the political participation of ‘non-indigenous’ people of Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State in a case study of Bambasi Woreda. It looks and measures the participation of ‘non-indigenous’ people in public decision making and assess the ‘indigenous’ vs. ‘non-indigenous’ composition of institutions of Bambasi Woreda’s administration and normative instruments for the accommodation and consideration of the right to political participation of ‘non-indigenous’ people. In investigating reliable data, the researcher utilizes the qualitative research approaches unstructured in-depth interview, key informant interview and field observation as data collection instruments, in combination with different documents and articles. As findings of the study reveal, the right to political participation has been shortened by normative and institutional constraints that range from the federal up to the Kebele administration level. Hence, it is highly recommended that there must be a structural change that helps to establish an inclusive normative and administrative institution which ranges from the reconsideration of ‘non-indigenous people up to a constitutional amendment and complete re-institutionalization of the administration.

The book argues that these patterns have enabled the resilience and survival of authoritarianism in the country, and have led to the failure of democratization. Ethnic conflict in Ethiopia stretches back to the country’s imperial history. Competing nationalisms begin to emerge towards the end of the imperial era, but were formalized by the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) from the 1990s onwards. Under the EPRDF, ethnicity and language classifications formed the main organizing principles for political parties and organizations, and the country’s new federal arrangement was also designed along ethnic fault lines. This book argues that this ethnic federal arrangement, and the continuation of an elite political culture are major factors in explaining the continuation of authoritarianism in Ethiopia. Focusing largely on the last 27 years under the EPRDF and on the political changes of the last few years, but also stretching back to historical narratives of ethnic grievances and division, this book is an important guide to the ethnic politics of Ethiopia and will be of interest to researchers of African politics, authoritarianism and ethnic conflict.

Therefore, the main objective of this study is to assess the challenges female inmates face in Dessie correctional center in South Wollo zone, Amhara region, Ethiopia. To conduct this study, mixed research approach employed. The sources of data were primary; questionnaire, key informant interview and focus group discussion and secondary sources; published and unpublished materials. To accomplish the study, all women inmates were selected as sample of the study by using comprehensive sampling and key informants were selected by using purposive judgmental sampling. The obtained data was analyzed and interpreted both quantitatively and qualitatively. The study finding disclosed that, the number of women prisoners is increasing from time to time within the institution, The study further shows that, lack of sufficient special diet, sleeping materials, health care, food and other services of children in the correctional center. The study shows that children’s are socialized deviant behavior and it has negative effect on their future life. Furthermore, the study reveals that women inmates faced problems related to the working rules of the institution. In conclusion, the study recommends that the government should aware the society about crime, health service in the institution should be improved by qualified health professionals, the correction administration has to be made more sensitive and responsive to the problems of the children of imprisoned mothers and the working rules of the institution should be improved based on the special needs of female inmates.

The total of 412 customers who were the service users of the municipality were selected as a sample size by using Yamane Taro’s sample selection formula as a study subjects. The study used convenience sampling method for sample selection of respondents’ and purposive sampling for interview of Public Service Manager. Open-ended questionnaires, closed ended questionnaires and interview were employed for data collection. Regarding research methodology; the researcher employed explanatory research method with both qualitative and quantitative data type. The analysis conducted using Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and presented by using tables, graphs, frequency distribution and percentage. From the study it was found that service quality dimensions were positively related to customer satisfaction; as service quality meets customers’ expectation it leads to customers’ satisfaction. The result indicates that the dimensions of service quality measures were not fully practised by the municipality, which results in low level of service quality and customers’ satisfaction. Municipal officials need to ensure that all tangible attributes related to employee performance create a desirable impact on customer perception of quality. This is important as customer continue to look for tangible cue as a means to reduce perceived service quality and describe their service experience in Burayu town municipality.

Majority of local NGOs are still either relief or development oriented regarding their policy objectives. They are fear of taking up policy advocacy, rule of law, human rights, criticism and opposition to state policies and practices. This is partly explained by the fact that many NGOs restored to opportunism or subservience to the government. That is, they make political calculations deemed necessary to ensure survival. In other words, most NGOs pretend not to engage in sensitive issues that may antagonize with the government. In simple terms, they rather conform to center of power and prefer to maintain personal and institutional interests (Kassahun, 2002:124). However, after 1991 a few local NGOs emerged and centered their objective on promoting the respect for the rule of law, protecting and monitoring human rights and enhancing civil awareness through various strategies. The Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO), Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA), Society for the Advancement of Human Rights Education (EAHRE) are some the examples, which entertain such objectives. Nevertheless, the relation of these human right NGOs and the government (EPRDF) is characterized by great friction and antagonism. Government sometimes intervened in their activities to extent of closing their offices (Sisay, 2001:29). In light of this background, the study is going to investigate this problem of advocacy NGOs by taking EHRCO as case and will also try to asses other impediments of its effective operation.

The information was obtained from 12 purposively sampled private banking companies by adopting descriptive research design. Semi structured questionnaires were administered to 153 respondents from which 43 were all share department expertise and 110 were conveniently selected shareholders from those banks and interviews also administered for share department directors of those banks. The questionnaires covered the key aspects of what options are there to transfer shares in the absence of secondary stock market in Ethiopia and related challenges and benefits. The main conclusions of the paper were: despite the absence of secondary stock market in Ethiopia shares can be transferred between investors through different ways includes by purchase through the help of share department employees of the companies, by descendant’s if the transfer is sequestration, and through court order at the time of debt settlement, divorce, death. Difficult to know market value of shares, less marketability, inaccessibility of information about share trade were the major challenges with the existing share transfer mechanism that existed in private banking companies in the absence of stock market in Ethiopia. Generally the findings suggest that shares of the private banking companies can transferred between investors in the absence of stock market in Ethiopia. Some recommendations were given from those the banks should open formal office to act as an agent for share transfer purpose for their shareholders by doing so the banks can enhance the transferability of shares.

To do so the researcher was used both primary and secondary data, among the primary data interview and questionnaire was used. Secondary data like development bank of Ethiopia Arbaminch branch credit manual, books and other documents was used. The study paper addresses an introductory statement of problem from total population of credit customers of development bank of Ethiopia Arbiminch branch by taking 100 samples through judgmental sampling. The collected data was analyzed and presented using descriptive analysis technique like tables percentages, pie chart, bar graphs. Finally based on findings the possible conclusion and recommendation was developed. The findings of the study indicated that the bank‘s lending procedure has a problem. Such as long processing time, limited loan amount, repetition of documents during renewal, time taking and misunderstanding with the customer as well as the problem on determine the value of collateral security. It becomes an increasingly important factor for organizational survival in the current dynamic environment. Customer satisfaction is one measurement of organizations performance based on the quality of services provided. This study tries to examine the effect of organizational culture on customer satisfaction in Yeka Sub City Small Tax Payers’ Office. The employed semi-structured questionnaire as data gathering tools for the sample population and non-participant observation was also employed as data gathering tool to supplement questionnaire. The total sample size was 249 out of which 232 questionnaires were completed and included in the analysis part. The responses of respondents were analyzed using descriptive statistics and narration. SPSS software was used in analyzing the collected data. The results of analysis showed mixed responses. The correlation coefficients show that all independent variable were found to be positively correlated with customer satisfaction though there is a discrepancy in their strength. Moreover, multiple regression analysis was used to determine the effect of all independent variables on a dependent variable, customer satisfaction. And accordingly, customer satisfaction is found to be primarily predicted by higher level of reliability, tangibility, team orientation, responsiveness, customer orientation and stability of organization. Meanwhile, the employee satisfaction is mostly predicted by higher level of stability, outcome orientation and innovation and risk taking. Generally, it was found that when 65 % of observed variability in customer satisfaction can be explained by independent variables included in the study, 54 % of observed variability in employee satisfaction is found to be explained by change in independent variables included in the study organization.
