The King James Version (KJV), also known as the Authorized Version (AV), is an English translation of the Bible that was commissioned for the Church of England and completed in 1611. The New Testament includes 27 books and letters written by early Christian leaders. These include the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), which narrate the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ; the Acts of the Apostles, which describes the early Christian community; the letters of Paul and other apostles; and the Book of Revelation, a prophetic book that describes the end of the world. The King James Version of the Bible is noted for its majesty of style, and has been described as one of the most important books in English culture and a driving force in the shaping of the English-speaking world. It was the third translation into English to be approved by the English Church authorities, and it was intended to be used for readings in church services. Despite the development of later, more modern English translations of the Bible, the King James Version remains widely read and loved by many people for its poetic and evocative language. As of my knowledge cut-off in September 2021, the King James Bible continues to be a significant religious, cultural, and literary work.

Book excerpt: Reading and Understanding the Acts of the Apostles, the New Testament Letters, and the Book of Revelation is the third volume of a three part series written for anyone who is interested in acquiring basic knowledge and understanding of the Bible, the book that is the foundation of Western and Middle Eastern civilization. The first volume is titled Reading and Understanding the Old Testament: The Foundation of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The second volume is Reading and Understanding the Gospels: Who Jesus Is, What He Teaches, and the Beginning of Christianity. This third volume covers the acts of the apostles, the New Testament letters, and the book of Revelation, which Christians say are the writings of Peter, Paul, James, and John. This volume, like the others, uses scholarship in a practical manner, moving chapter by chapter through each letter using the actual verses as it explains clearly their basic meaning for people in ancient time and our time today. The reader will experience and get a complete sense of the content and meaning of these writings that Christians call their inspired writings. Like the first two volumes the author integrates the historical and the literary with the theological in order to highlight the meaning of each letter. Once again, the author has taken a difficult subject, made it easy reading, and filled it with challenging insights. This book is strongly recommended not just for Christians but for those who are interested in knowing what the first Christians taught and how they applied those teachings.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains 14pt font for easier reading. (The Average Bible Contains 6pt font lettering.) The Book of Revelation, often called the Revelation to John, the Apocalypse of John, The Revelation, or simply Revelation or Apocalypse, is a book of the New Testament that occupies a central place in Christian eschatology. Its title is derived from the first word of the text, written in Koine Greek: apokalypsis, meaning "unveiling" or "revelation". The Book of Revelation is the only apocalyptic document in the New Testament canon (although there are short apocalyptic passages in various places in the Gospels and the Epistles). The author names himself in the text as "John", but his precise identity remains a point of academic debate. Second century Christian writers such as Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Melito the bishop of Sardis, and Clement of Alexandria and the author of the Muratorian fragment identify John the Apostle as the "John" of Revelation. Modern scholarship generally takes a different view, and many consider that nothing can be known about the author except that he was a Christian prophet. Some modern scholars characterise Revelation's author as a putative figure whom they call "John of Patmos". The bulk of traditional sources date the book to the reign of the emperor Domitian (AD 81-96), and the evidence tends to confirm this. The book spans three literary genres: the epistolary, the apocalyptic, and the prophetic. It begins with John, on the island of Patmos in the Aegean, addressing a letter to the "Seven Churches of Asia". He then describes a series of prophetic visions, including figures such as the Whore of Babylon and the Beast, culminating in the Second Coming of Jesus. The obscure and extravagant imagery has led to a wide variety of Christian interpretations: historicist interpretations see in Revelation a broad view of history; preterist interpretations treat Revelation as mostly referring to the events of the apostolic era (1st century), or, at the latest, the fall of the Roman Empire; futurists believe that Revelation describes future events; and idealist or symbolic interpretations consider that Revelation does not refer to actual people or events, but is an allegory of the spiritual path and the ongoing struggle between good and evil.

As Christians, however, we have assurance that the second coming of Christ will not be the end, but the beginning of a glorious new world. Retired minister Mary Lou Tickell digs deep into the book of Revelation to help prepare you for the future in New Testament Bible Study for Daily Living. Tickell shows how God has revealed the past, present, and future in Revelation, as well as giving us signs to indicate the end time. Basing her study on the New King James Version Study Bible, Tickell reveals how other prophesies intertwine with the overall prophesy of Christs return to give believers a more complete picture. In easy-to-understand language, Tickell discusses the various signs and prophesies of Revelation backed by their corresponding verses. Such topics include significance of the seals, trumpets, and bowls; unveiling of a scroll by Jesus; destruction of Babylon; the great tribulation; and Satan, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet. We need not fear the end time. With this handy guide, Christians can rest assured that there is, indeed, eternal life with God and Christ for all true believers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The numbers in the King James Holy Bible have significant meaning that follow the number throughout the scripture. The number 13 has always been an 'unlucky' number. The number 13 is the number that represents Satan, evil, wickedness, devils, and everything vile that is connected to them. This book is a chronological account of the number of 'Rebellion' in the bible from Genesis to Revelation. The word "THIRTEENTH" is found to be the thirteenth word in a bible verse only one time at: Esther 9:1 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, ...The words thirteen and thirteenth appears 26 (2x13) times in the bible. There are 13 famines recorded in scripture. There are 13 kings recorded from David to Zedekiah who went into Babylonian captivity. 2nd Chron. 36:10The phrase: 'the old serpent', 'thousand years', 'Jannes/Jambres' have 13 letters. The Antichrist (13 letters), who we know to be 'Judas Iscariot; (13 letters), is the one who 'betrayed Jesus' (13 letters). He is the coming to rule over 'New World Order' (13 letters) that is being set up currently by the globalists. The Antichrist 'is the man of sin' (13 letters) spoken of by Jesus in the gospels, and his final abode will be 'the lake of fire' (13 letters). A sample of the Revelation 13:18 (a 13 with 3x6), the 66th book of the bible; the 13th chapter; and the 18th verse; here we get the "number of a man"; 'the Antichrist', which is 666; the unholy trinity of man. The word "beast" in sole reference to the person of 'the Antichrist' (13 letters), himself, appears a total of 36 (6x6) times in Revelation. No coincidence. The address 13:18 (13+3x6) added together is: 1+3+1+8=13; and 13+18=31 a 13 reversed; 'the Antichrist' is covered over with 6s, 13s and their multiples. Another infamous 13:18 is found in John's gospel (see); John is also the author of the book of Revelation; and he records Jesus, at the last supper, quoting Psa. 41:9 and Jesus says: "He that eateth bread with me hath lift up his heel against me." a direct reference to the "betrayer" 'Judas Iscariot' (13 letters) and the quote just happens to be 13 words in length; see the nuggets in John 13 of this work to see other such "coincidences" as the scoffers would say. In Genesis 3:15 we have the first recorded prophecy in the bible of the Devil's seed 'the Antichrist' (13 letters), and the address of Gen. 3:15 is (3+15=18, 666).The only use in the bible of the capital "S" Six; is found in verse 18; and it personifies the number as you would capitalize a proper name.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monumental commentary on the book of Revelation, originally published in 1999, has been highly acclaimed by scholars, pastors, students, and others seriously interested in interpreting the Apocalypse for the benefit of the church. Too often Revelation is viewed as a book only about the future. As G. K. Beale shows, however, Revelation is not merely a futurology but a book about how the church should live for the glory of God throughout the ages -- including our own. Engaging important questions concerning the interpretation of Revelation in scholarship today, as well as interacting with the various viewpoints scholars hold on these issues, Beale's work makes a major contribution in the much-debated area of how the Old Testament is used in the Apocalypse. Approaching Revelation in terms of its own historical background and literary character, Beale argues convincingly that John's use of Old Testament allusions -- and the way the Jewish exegetical tradition interpreted these same allusions -- provides the key for unlocking the meaning of Revelation's many obscure metaphors. In the course of Beale's careful verse-by-verse exegesis, which also untangles the logical flow of John's thought as it develops from chapter to chapter, it becomes clear that Revelation's challenging pictures are best understood not by apparent technological and contemporary parallels in the twentieth century but by Old Testament and Jewish parallels from the distant past.
