This book was released on 2002-12-30 with total page 479 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today the world stands in an imperative need for a code of universal teachings, such as Islam (Peace). It is our foremost duty to depict the teachings of Islam in its true perspective. In Europe, America, and even in India, there are still prevalent gross misconceptions and wrong notions about Islam and also about the Holy Prophet of Islam. This book contains comments, quotations, and writings from hundreds of eminent scholars, writers, and thinkers of the Non-Muslim world to show the real truth about Islam and its Prophet. As an American lady converted to Islam remarked, "The Muslims of to-day do not know the real meaning of Islam and the work life, example and precepts of their Prophet. Most of the to-day Muslims are living in gross ignorance of the true teachings of Islam." This book is needed at this juncture of the World when it is torn into blocks by ideologies and there is an impending danger of the annihilation of the whole human race and its beautiful civilization by nuclear, chemical, and other weapons of mass destruction. Today a nations status and existence should depend on superior ideology and not on arms and ammunition. Islam alone can supply this all-comprehensive superior ideology to be applied to the pressing problems of the present day World. Absolute faith in one and only one humanity earnestly taught by Islam can alone save the World and the modern civilization from degradation, destruction, and utter ruination. Islam and its holy prophet have a message to the whole mankind. The message is: The world in which we have our beings does not belong to us. It is a God's trust to men and women. All the powers, all the greatness that mankind posses should be ever used, employed as God's trust and according to this law and commandments. Men and women must not think themselves as master of all things and should not use them arbitrarily. They must think themselves as divine instruments to carry out God's trust faithfully and justly. Islam enjoys one universal brotherhood of all human beings and one humanity. This is what the present enlightened and think World is seeking as a new comradeship, a universal fellowship, a World community, a deeper understanding and peace above all. Another purpose of this book is to present Europe and America and to the Non-Muslim world a real and true picture of Islam and its Holy Prophet as told by their own people in order to remove them from the mind of the Western people of these prejudiced wrong notions, erroneous biases, and obsession against Islam and its founder. The liberal attitude of Islam to freedom of belief and thought is one of the fundamental tenets of Islam which established rights of human beings more than fourteen hundred years ago as part of creed as a universal message to humanity. This message is of utmost importance to the present state of human development. If the present day Muslims can intelligently appreciate the message of Islam and truly act thereupon, they would be able to regain confidence in themselves and contribute effectively to the peace and happiness of mankind. This is another purpose of this book. If the Western and Non-Muslim people could appreciate the teachings of Islam and its Holy Prophet, they would see the truth and would be glad to cooperate with the Muslims in the up-hill task of making this World a heaven for peaceful, prosperous, and brotherly living and for that noble purpose to form a universal brotherhood of all mankind. I express my obligation and gratitude to those from whose books and writings quotations have been made.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the biography of Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH), has been the subject of many studies, books, references, and commentaries, the book written in Arabic by the Author, Abbas Mahmoud Al-Akkad, remains unique in the way it has addressed the personality of the Prophet (PBUH), producing such an elegant thesis. This book is not a mere citation of the acts and traditions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH); rather, Al-Akkad opted to dive deeply into the traits and attributes underlying the Prophet's legacy as a manifestation of his genius, still as a human being. According to Al-Akkad, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had naturally practiced all facets of genius and greatness, because he was gifted by the talents that had made him the best preacher, politician, manager, warier, friend, and father. The Author illustrated how the Prophet (PBUH) had such lively heart, soul, and conscience that enabled him to register the irrefutable genius in every creation around him, subtle or obvious, from the air lifting of a single grain of sand to the ever-glowing sun and moon. It was such lively elements instilled in the Prophet that prepared him for the divine call and enabled him to endure the struggle associated with receiving the 'heavy' message and delivering it successfully to all mankind. And in the way the Prophet reflected upon the genius of all creations around us is a strong message to every human being to search, ponder, and listen to the wonders of Allah's creation. The Author succeeded in presenting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a human being whose human nature made him appreciative of people's weaknesses, needs, and aspirations, while catering for these astonishingly during his delivery of the message of Islam. Al-Akkad proved how the Prophet (PBUH) persisted and persevered in his call to make it a success despite all the odds, barriers, and challenges; a message to be emulated by every individual who has goals to pursue and achieve in this life and in the hereafter. The Author also showed that during only 23 years, the duration of Prophet Muhammad's mission, the world has changed forever; thanks to this one single man. Yet this change would have never been possible without the special qualities that were inculcated in the Prophet. It is these qualities that every person should strive to acquire and act upon, notwithstanding the divine preparation that qualified Prophet Muhammad for the most serious mission in history. In the course of guidance and aspiration to mankind, the way the Author presented the genius traits of the Prophet (PBUH) inspires individuals to strive for nobility and justice, societies to aim for reforms and prosperity, and nations to establish and maintain order and peace. Finally, the book shows how the Prophet (PBUH) spent all his life expending his skills, talents, and genius for the benefit of mankind, entertaining none of life's glamour; a fact that characterized all prophets before him. But in return, people will always celebrate his contribution to mankind until the end of time. Dr. Mostafa Ismail

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combining vast erudition with a refusal to bow before the political pressures of the day, Muhammad’s Mission: Religion, Politics, and Power at the Birth of Islam by Professor Tilman Nagel, one of the world’s leading authorities on Islam, is an introduction to three inseparable topics: the life of Muhammad (570-632 CE), the composition of the Koran, and the birth of Islam. While accessible to a general audience, it will also be of great interest to specialists, since it is the first English translation of Professor Nagel’s attempt to summarize a lifetime of research on these topics. The Introduction, Chapters 1-2, and Appendix 1 provide essential historical background on the Arab tribal system and Muhammad’s position within that system; the political situation in pre-Islamic Arabia; the history of Mecca; and pre-Islamic Arabian religions. Chapters 3-5 cover the beginnings of the revelations that Muhammad claimed to be receiving from Allah, paying special attention to the influence on Muhammad of the hanifs, a group of pre-Islamic pagan monotheists attested in the earliest Islamic sources. The hanifs claimed to trace their religion back to the putative original monotheism of Abraham, from which they claimed Jews and Christians had deviated by, among other things, abandoning animal sacrifice. Chapter 6 explains how Muhammad’s religious message included a thinly-veiled claim to have the right to political power over Mecca, a claim that exacerbated tensions with his own clan and led eventually to his expulsion from Mecca, as recounted in Chapter 7. Chapters 8-10 describe the impact of the hijra on the evolution of Islam. Seeing himself as the true heir to Abraham and the prophets who followed him, Muhammad would demand allegiance from Jews and Christians, as recounted in Sura 2 and other Medinan suras. He would initiate a war against Mecca, not in self-defense, but in order to gain control over the Kaaba, the central hanif shrine and the new qibla or direction of prayer for the Muslims. The Muslim victory at the Battle of Badr in 624 would help to shape a new ideal of a militarized religiosity in which those who waged war under Muhammad’s command would attain the rank of “true believers,” while those converts who refused to make hijra and to fight for Muhammad were relegated to the lower rank of “mere Muslims,” as Suras 8 and 49 make clear. Muhammad’s war against Mecca alienated many of his Medinan followers, the ansar. The refusal of the Jews to convert to Islam, combined with the close connection of the Jews to the ansar, led Muhammad to make war on the Jews as well as the Meccans. The surrender of Mecca in 630 (Chapter 11) did not lead to the end of war, for the aggressiveness and military success of Muhammad’s movement had made it attractive to a slew of new converts whose desire for booty had to be placated. Sura 9, promulgated near the end of Muhammad’s life, served as a broad declaration of war against polytheists, Jews, and Christians. Chapter 12 describes the evolution of Islam late in Muhammad’s life into a “religious warriors’ movement” that sought to extend the rule of Islam over the entire inhabited world. Chapter 13 covers the final pilgrimage and death of Muhammad, while Chapters 14-20 describe the development of Islamic dogma surrounding the figure of Muhammad and its implications for politics in the Islamic world and interfaith relations with non-Muslims up till the present day. The book concludes with appendices in which Nagel summarizes the state of scholarship regarding the life of Muhammad (Appendix 2) and the tensions between competing varieties of Muslim recollection of Muhammad (Appendix 3). Muhammad’s Mission: Religion, Politics, and Power at the Birth of Islam is an erudite and authoritative guide to events of world-historical importance by a scholar who has spent a lifetime mastering the primary sources documenting the birth of Islam.

Book excerpt: "And most certainly, thou (O Muhammad) are of most sublime and exalted character." (The Holy Qur’ân, 68:4) How the Topic Arose About ten years ago, a distant cousin of mine - Mr. Mohamed Mehtar Farooki gave me a typed quotation by the French historian, Lamartine. The quotation [A detailed exposition of the quotation will be found on page 38 ] purported to prove that Muhammad (pbuh), the prophet of Islam, was the greatest man that ever lived. Mr. Mehtar was in the habit of passing information on to me, believing that I might put the same to some good use at the proper time and place. Before this he had presented me with "The Call of the Minaret," an expensive book written by (Bishop Kenneth Cragg). By analysing this book I discovered the masterful deceit of the Christian Orientalists.

Book excerpt: Managing operations is an integral part of all business and comprises a number of components, including quality management, production planning, supply chain management, logistics, and inventory control. The effective management of operations plays a defining role in enhancing business efficiency and is a lynchpin for success. This book explores how Islamic principles and tools can be applied to improve operations management across industries. While Islamic banking and finance are established disciplines, there is yet little evidence of how exploring operations management from an Islamic lens can improve efficiency. Bringing together leading scholars across subdisciplines, the Editors fill the long-standing gap and address the rising demand for halal products and services by providing a unique perspective to define and enhance an important, growing field. This book will be a useful reference for those who wish to understand all aspects of Islamic business operations and halal logistics. The book will be helpful to academics, researchers, and upper level students, in particular to those who are looking to further their research on how Islamic principles can be applied to business operations.
