It is the dark recesses of our souls, the golden secrets of our dreams, it is cloaked in mystery, magic and millenniums. It can be stretched like a rubber band and is a Never Ending Story. It is how Alice fell down the rabbit hole, it is how Dorothy visited Oz. Writers have been taking us on these Journeys to the interior of our minds or the extremities of the Universe since Homer. Jules Vern wrote From the Earth To the Moon long before space travel was actualized and Edgar Allen Poe put us up in a Balloon in the early 1840s We never seem to get enough. Theres no limit to the journey and breadth of our imagination. So hop on board and lets take a trip.

Book excerpt: I first encountered Mr. Edgar Allan Poe in the Parents Wonder World Encyclopedia my mother had purchased for me on the installment plan way back in 1961, It was the poem Annabel Lee and I was mesmerized. The following short story was the Purloined Letter. Needless to say, it was not on the summer reading list of St. Joseph Monastery School and I’m sure they would have been shocked that my mother encouraged me to read the whole book on English Literature. She had said, “read that volume and you’ll always know a little bit about all the great literature. I wrote Raven Dove when my darling husband drove me all over Loudon Park Cemetery and I found all the tomb stones I used for true life tomb poems. One of my best friends Lynn Barns who lived up the street from me did many Poe paintings and her house looked like the set from some of the scarier Poe Films with Gargoyles and Fantasy everywhere. She allowed me to use her artwork for my documentary on Poe titled the Eureka Man. The screenplay the Bell for the Rune was based on a great screenplay by my client Mary Elizabeth Hauer who also wrote Esmeralda the Witch and the Ebony Soldier. She was a great writer and I’m honored to have known her. Again, sadly she passed away. I am so proud that my daughter, Christine, who is a great artist, also included Edgar Allan Poe in her repertoire. Above Lou and Loretto to the left Poe on his deathbed by Lynne Barnes. Lynn was the main character in the film as a ghostly witch. We had great fun filming it. Sadly, Lynn passed away during the pandemic. We shot some scenes in Chrissy’s house and our Edgar Allan Poe was Chris Dickerson. He played his ghost. He also impersonated him at Admiral Fells Inn for The Top of the Morning Show. Below is Chissy, Christine Chavis with her Poe Impersonator David Keltz who is the main impersonator for Baltimore Maryland. We all love Poe and the Poe House is open for tours. They have many events and they are always looking for new work inspired by Poe. They have a contest every year and we hope to enter this book as a collaborative work between my daughter Christine Chavis and myself. You can reach Christine @

We are all in here in some way or another some of us are the writer's, my mother Anne McDonagh, her daughter Loretto (that's me) our daughters Bridgette and Debbie that's three generation of women writer's. The cover is by our grandson Zead who is an artist as is his Aunt Chrissy who is on the back cover with him above. They are the third generation artists in my family. My cousin George painted the Last Supper and the Station of the Cross at St. Mungo's Church in Glasgow Scotland. Some of us are the hero's and heroine's of the stories. I created Baby Billy and Liddle Tina for our son Joe and daughter Debbie when they were two and four years old. Now the same stories are adapted for Debbie's son Donovan and our daughter Angel's daughter Sarah. Bridgette wrote the poem in the Introduction. Our son Kevin is K. P. O'Toolahan. Our grandson Dimitri is Greek and Zead and Bassem are Egyptian I translated most titles to Irish Gaelic for Dimitri's stories. Our grandson Donovan last name is Mc Vicker and on his other grandmother's side he is descendent from Mary Wollstonecraft. But right now it's about the Irish side and I'm descended of a lot of old Irish story tellers. It's all called Blarney and all good Irish writer are full of it. There are tons of Fairy Stories and leprechauns and elves. There are magic wishing wells and fantasy lands. Join us on Cloud Nine or in Seventh Heaven. Take a trip to Egypt with Solomon de Sula. My mother's first story Gay's Adventure is in here. I've tried to translate most of the titles of the stories into Gaelic and in the case of some based on the Great Jules Vern into French. At the end there is a poem about Matilda the Mouse at Christmas Time and Father Christmas. These have been translated roughly into Gaelic, French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Welsh and Swahili. Hope you enjoy the stories and it encourages you to search your own heritage.

It dumbfounded her that this revelation made her so happy. Giddy, even. Like fate had just slapped her in the face with a happy spell… and all Ivan could manage was a befuddled stare. The Fated Chronicles was my first series. And even though it's full of magical adventure, it's also about feeling lost and finding your real home and family in this world. And that even with all the magic and mayhem and wonderous discoveries, it is truth that is the most powerful weapon. We recommend it for readers aged 10 and up. We have loads of fans who are parents who read with their kids. Young adults and teens love it. Adults who relive their fondest childhood memories of reading. Grandparents and people of all ages adore this family saga. And - Larpers! I mean, how awesome is it to have fans so crazy about your story, they larp your series? Does it get any better? Maybe, a movie… someday. Anyway, we're glad you're here to discover this series. It's been likened to more contemporary reads, like The Discworld Series, Harry Potter, Garth Nix, and one of my all-time favorites, Ray Bradbury! As well as classic fan favorites like, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Neverending Story, Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz... And I have to tell you, when a reviewer said that about my series, that was a crowning moment as I am a huge Bradbury fan - I even got a tattoo to prove it! I hope readers of all ages check out his works as they still feel timeless to me, even years after his passing. The Fated Chronicles loosely tells the story of my youth. I'm someone who didn't have the "traditional" upbringing of a stable, happy home. I spent most of my childhood protecting my siblings and friends and struggling just to survive each day. Unfortunately, I know far too many others who also lived a fight for survival kind of life and this story is for everyone who has ever had this struggle but never stopped fighting! And over time with much toil and trouble, were able to rise above the circumstance they were handed and find their true home and family in this world. This story is dedicated to every single one of you. I see you. I see the struggle you've survived. And even if you're still struggling, like me, to fully overcome a past thrust upon you -- you are still here. Still breathing. Still fighting. So, good on you! And please never give up. Because I guarantee you, whether you know it or not, there are people in this world grateful you exist. I really hope you enjoy reading this series as much as I did, writing it. And even though I do not like this part, we live in a conflicted world. So, I will warn you right now that this is an 11 book series that sees our characters age... they are just turning 13 when it starts and are 17 when it's ending -- kind of similar to how the Harry Potter characters age. This means some romance-- age-appropriate romances. However, I am a very love is love person, so, yes, there are gay couplings. It's a beautiful storyline one reader literally bawled her way through. And I admit, I bawled my way through writing it. There’s one scene later in the series that was so emotional to write, and meant so much to me, I had to take a break for a few days before I could keep writing. And that scene is dedicated not just to readers struggling with identity, but struggling with finding acceptance of any kind. Because, really, it’s all above finding our true loves and soulmates to travel through this life with. I think these reviews help sum up the series well: "This sweeping complex series of 11 books is riveting, rollicking and ultimately very satisfying. Following the lives of 3 young children in particular whose identities and relationships (like so many others in this saga) are not what they initially appear to be, these page-turners are packed with Magic, Pathos, Teenage Angst, Humor, Anticipation, Conspiracy, War and Peace, Bucolic Love, Time Travel... everything but the kitchen sink! I picked up Book 1 on a Friday night and binge read all 11 by Tuesday morning! If you ever thought you were somehow “Special,” or ever wanted to “Save the World,” these books are for YOU. Totally engaging and completely believable, the emotional roller coaster keeps the reader invested in each intricate convoluted detail while orchestrating its ultimate message of Love, with a few lessons in Morality along the way. So many comparisons to Past, Present and Future situations are readily apparent. So snuggle up on a rainy day and embark on a new adventure... I can promise you a surprise around every corner and some serious Fun!" - Amazon reviewer "Ascend, book 11 of the Fated Saga, was an absolute joy and surprise to read. While I believe most of us who have been along for the read since the beginning expected some sort of happy ending, I don't think anyone could have anticipated this. Ascend wraps up each and every character's story arc and leaves no stone unturned. *** The fact that the ending took me so completely by surprise is one of the things I loved most about this book. Each character felt like a real person, despite the magical world they lived in. The series, as a whole, dealt with topics like love, hate, discrimination, jealousy and finding yourself and was able to stay true to the story. Nothing felt contrived. The bottom line is just WOW. I was thrown by the twists I never saw coming as well as the resolutions I'd hoped for but had no idea how the author could bring about. I do hope we get to read about more of either the characters or the beautiful world created for them."

It has been mined, traded, stolen, and killed for -- and for centuries, honorable Green Bone warriors like the Kaul family have used it to enhance their magical abilities and defend the island from foreign invasion. Now, the war is over and a new generation of Kauls vies for control of Kekon's bustling capital city. They care about nothing but protecting their own, cornering the jade market, and defending the districts under their protection. Ancient tradition has little place in this rapidly changing nation. When a powerful new drug emerges that lets anyone -- even foreigners -- wield jade, the simmering tension between the Kauls and the rival Ayt family erupts into open violence. The outcome of this clan war will determine the fate of all Green Bones -- and of Kekon itself.
