Book excerpt: The circle has been broken. The fae have escaped into the mortal world. And Tabitha's the only one who can stop them... Set in post-technology Britain and based around Celtic myth, The Court of the Faerie Queen is a romantic fairytale adventure of a young woman's quest to discover who she really is. The River Witch When strange monsters rise from the river to attack her people, Tabitha's sent on a desperate journey to seek aid from the fabled Iron City. Armed with only the stone necklace her mother left her and a book of fairy tales, Tabitha faces a world full of dangers, both human and fae. When a trio of mischievous sprites and a handsome, charming wanderer offer to join her, Tabitha's only too willing to accept their help. But Tabitha's about to learn that not everyone is quite who they seem... The Iron Court Tabitha is confident that Lysander can help her find the fabled Iron City. With him by her side, she's sure they'll find the help she needs to defend her village from the fae. Lysander, on the other hand, is desperate to keep Tabitha from ever reaching the city. He's determined to hurry her as far away from the ruthless Iron Court as he possibly can. But neither of them knows that the Iron Court is already hunting them... The Queen's Court Tabitha's convinced that the answers she needs can only be found in the Otherworld. And when she and Lysander meet a mysterious, handsome faery who promises he can take them straight to the Queen's Court, it seems like all her wishes have come true. But it quickly turns out that the Kingdom of Faerie isn't quite what she expected it to be... Tabitha and Lysander don't know who or what to trust any more. And the closer they get to the Court of the Faerie Queen, the darker and more wicked Faerie seems to grow... If you enjoy Holly Black's dark faerie stories, the sense of adventure in Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse, and Juliet Marillier's romantic mythology, then you'll love the River Witch series. This omnibus edition includes the first three books in the River Witch series (The River Witch, The Iron Court, and The Queen's Court), plus exclusive content including a brand new map showing Tabitha's journey across Bretan, a guide to faerie etiquette, tips on defending yourself in case of a faerie invasion, a magical recipe for recreating Tabitha's river at home, and a sneak preview of the first few chapters in the fourth book in the series. Book excerpt: This much anticipated sequel to the New York Times Bestseller Impossible – a fantasy full of suspense, mystery, and romance – will appeal to fans of Beautiful Creatures, Raven Boys, and Wicked Lovely. Fenella was the first Scarborough girl to be cursed, hundreds of years ago, and she has been trapped in the faerie realm ever since, forced to watch generations of daughters try to break this same faerie curse that has enslaved them all. But now Fenella’s descendant, Lucy, has accomplished the impossible and broken the curse, so why is Fenella still trapped in Faerie? In her desperation, Fenella makes a deal with the faerie queen: If she can accomplish three acts of destruction, she will be free, at last, to die. What she doesn't realize is that these acts must be aimed at her own family – and if she fails, the consequences will be dire, for all of the Scarborough girls. How can she possibly choose to hurt her own cherished family – not to mention the new man whom she’s surprised to find herself falling in love with? But if she doesn’t go through with the tasks, how will she manage to save her dear ones?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are, roughly speaking, two distinct types of Scottish Fairy Tales. There are what may be called "Celtic Stories," which were handed down for centuries by word of mouth by professional story-tellers, who went about from clachan to clachan in the "Highlands and Islands," earning a night's shelter by giving a night's entertainment, and which have now been collected and classified for us by Campbell of Isla and others. These stories, which are also common to the North of Ireland, are wild and fantastic, and very often somewhat monotonous, and their themes are strangely alike. They almost always tell of some hero or heroine who sets out on some dangerous quest, and who is met by giants, generally three in number, who appear one after the other; with whom they hold quaint dialogues, and whom eventually they slay. Most of them are fairly long, and although they have a peculiar fascination of their own, they are quite distinct from the ordinary Fairy Tale. These latter, in Scotland, have also a character of their own, for there is no country where the existence of Spirits and Goblins has been so implicitly believed in up to a comparatively recent date. As a proof of this we can go to Hogg's tale of "The Wool-gatherer," and see how the countryman, Barnaby, voices the belief of his day. "Ye had need to tak care how ye dispute the existence of fairies, brownies, and apparitions! Ye may as weel dispute the Gospel of Saint Matthew." Perhaps it was the bleak and stern character of their climate, and the austerity of their religious beliefs which made our Scottish forefathers think of the spirits in whom they so firmly believed, as being, for the most part, mischievous and malevolent. Their Bogies, their Witches, their Kelpies, even their Fairy Queen herself, were supposed to be in league with the Evil One, and to be compelled, as Thomas of Ercildoune was near finding out to his cost, to pay a "Tiend to Hell" every seven years; so it was not to be wondered at, that these uncanny beings were dreaded and feared. But along with this dark and gloomy view, we find touches of delicate playfulness and brightness. The Fairy Queen might be in league with Satan, but her subjects were not all bound by the same law, and many charming tales are told of the "sith" or silent folk, who were always spoken of with respect, in case they might be within earshot, who made their dwellings under some rocky knowe, and who came out and danced on the dewy sward at midnight.
