Book excerpt: Father Ignacio Gordon, SJ, taught canon law (the Catholic Church’s law) from 1960 until 1985 at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, with a concentration on procedural law, or the laws on trials. By all testimonies, he was outstanding for the clarity of his teaching, his humble affection for his students, his indefatigable and hidden service to the Apostolic See, and his priestly zeal. Notable among his endeavors was an educational initiative for the ongoing formation of judges and other ministers of justice in ecclesiastical tribunals. In his teaching, he stressed the ecclesial importance and supernatural implications of procedural law in general, and the indispensability of the judicial protection of marriage in particular. Special efforts were made to make procedural law understandable to his students and to canonists in general, at a time when the Church was celebrating and implementing the teachings of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, as a result of which her law was undergoing a major revision. Father Gordon taught from the consistent canonical tradition, while also laying bare the latest developments in law and jurisprudence. He taught the entirety of the law on trials, producing numerous scholarly works on questions both timeless and new, giving marked emphasis to the problem of the excessive length of trials and the causes of delayed justice. An area of his particular attention and dedication was the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura—of which he was a consultor (referendary and later votans)—including both its proper law and its history. This history displayed, in part, why that Tribunal was the natural one to function as the supreme administrative tribunal of the Church. Father Gordon’s contribution to the question of ecclesiastical administrative justice was among those leading the novel and dynamic discussion about it in the 1960s and 1970s.

Book excerpt: KEYS TO THE DOOR OF TRUTH; Metaphysical Musings of a Born-Yet-Again builds upon the teachings of its two predecessors. Written in the context of yet another weekend seminar with Christo Sahbays, in this third entry in the author's new MY SPIRITUAL AWARENESS SERIES the fledgling leadership group takes on the means of metaphorical treatment of holy writ. To be more precise, certain phraseology found in the Gospel of John is found to be the key that unlocks the door to Truth about Spiritual Life as taught by the Master Jesus. In an amazingly powerful approach that uses metaphor as the Spiritual scalpel that cuts beneath the surface knowledge of intellectual literality, the "secret" meaning of Spiritual intent is revealed with brilliant clarity through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This humble intention forms the foundation for continuing metaphysical treatment of future offerings is this intriguing emerging series. This book naturally follows the first two offerings in the MY SPIRITUAL AWARENESS SERIES: CREATION SPIRIT, Expressing Your Divinity in Everyday Life and A LABOR OF LOVE; Weaving Your Own Virgin Birth on the Loom of Life. Future writings will deal with such topics as the metaphysical meaning of Jesus and his disciples, the Sermon on the Mount, some of the various "newfound" Gospels, and those portions of the remaining three Gospels that do not replicate the content of the Gospel of John--all placed in a practical perspective.

Book excerpt: This is a book of insight. It shines light on areas that a person might not see and most definitely understand. The information inside has the potential to cause a life changing experience. It touches on many areas of topic which can cause self-examination. With self-examination, that alone causes evolution and the basic structure of evolution is growing, being better than yourself in the past. The interesting content inside of each topic pulls you into areas of understanding, areas of obvious suspicion that some might not be able to see, areas of understanding existence, and how to fix a corrupt situation just to name a few. The biggest thing about all this information is that it just might be the blue print, the road map, and the compass to a better world. We all need guidance but who will give it? The time is now to be lead into the land of milk and honey. The question will remain, do you want to go and will you do what it takes to get there which is travel. A better world can happen in 7 years but it can start tomorrow.

Book excerpt: Christianity has become a global phenomenon, but how could a religion signed into effect by Roman Emperor Constantine gain so many followers, especially since biblical scriptures instruct against the teaching of knowing God? For centuries, theologians have marveled over the scriptures within the Bible, yet none have been permitted to point out the biblical scriptures opposing the worshipping of Jesus. But this truth and other countless discoveries are just a brief insight to what Bradley has compiled for you. Bringing these discoveries to light provokes the need for Christianity to be examined more thoroughly, beyond its traditional teachings. Bradley soars high with this mind-boggling study, after spending more than four years researching the Bible. His own yearn for spiritual freedom helped him unlock the biblical confusion, exposing a great deal of hidden secrets that should make you question the validity of todays Christian church and its followers.

Once this fear is removed, our dreams flow back into our lives like water, and every single self-help book can help make them real. John Duffield

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A guide to Christian philosophy that engages with the biblical story As human beings, we all qualify as philosophers, and Paul Copan contends that we take a position of trust (faith) shaped by philosophical stances but also personal heart commitments (worldviews). In this thoroughly revised and expanded second edition of Loving Wisdom, Copan explores philosophy of religion from a distinctively evangelical Christian perspective—biblically grounded, informed by apologetics, and engaging with questions about universal human longings. Copan presents a distinctively and deliberately biblical philosophy of religion in Loving Wisdom, addressing a wide range of topics and questions as they arise in the metanarrative of scripture. He acknowledges the difficulties, mystery, and disagreements in “religion,” while attempting to show how the Christian faith does a much more adequate job of responding to a wide range of challenges as well as addressing our deepest human yearnings. With discussion questions for each chapter and an accessible approach, Loving Wisdom is ideal for the classroom or small groups.
