Book excerpt: Challenges, equips, and inspires fathers of children with special needs Becoming the father of a child with special needs can feel like being drafted into the military--and starting duty as a general. Dad is expected to know how to set rules and run drills without any training in leadership. And there are very few resources for men who want to be involved but need guidance and specific ideas. Overwhelmed, many fathers end up going AWOL on their families. As a twenty-year veteran of special-needs parenting, Jeff Davidson wrote a field manual to give fathers the skills required for the day-to-day demands of parenting. Jeff helps men discover God's new mission for their lives in each of five specific roles: warrior, protector, provider, encourager, and equipper. He offers rich, real-life examples from dads in the field and a no-nonsense approach from initial diagnosis onward. This book is filled with practical how-tos for parenting in the special needs world, bullet points for easy reading and quick reference, and a Mission Critical synopsis at the end of each chapter. Informal and task-oriented, Common Man, Extraordinary Call offers growth and hope for men with little free time. And as they process their instructions, they'll be able to mentor other fathers, creating a strong army of men who not only survive but thrive as capable dads to their children with special needs.

Book excerpt: The proposed book is an autobiography presented in the form of fiction and covers the interesting development of an author’s intense observation and memories recorded in the true sequence of his life. Struggle of a common man, rather every common man who aspires very high and is always has dreams in his eyes to the extent of belief. He thinks he is great and would be a very popular author, rather a celebrity and so, is enthusiastic and hopeful and he treats every failure as an opportunity for success. Years and years of his struggle, his achievements, his undaunted enthusiasm to reach to the greater heights, his career as a professor of chemistry and finally in retrospect a kaleidoscope of his multicolored experiences woven in the simple fabric of words presents this book as an interesting reading of a common man by a common man, for a common man as it goes.

It is about common man’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has become a ray of hope for 125 crore Indians—from a humble farmer to an ambitious industrialist—having taken the route to good governance after being sworn as India's Prime Minister in May 2014. The gamechanger of Indian politics, Modi had taken the mesmeric hold over Gujarat masses with three consecutive victories in the state assembly elections and was a senior campaign adviser drawing unprecedented crowds for Lok Sabha 2014 elections. After getting elected PM, Modi is often echoed in 24x7 Breaking News on media channels and enjoys good rapport with the top world leaders whom he visited during his six months of Prime Ministership. The insightful leader led India at the IndiaASEAN Summit, G20 Summit and had bilateral meetings with the leadership of countries like US, Japan, China and other neighbouring countries of India. He has launched new avenues of cooperation with the countries with which India has deep historical and cultural ties over centuries. His initiatives like 'Make in India' and 'Swachchha Bharat Abhiyan' have been widely lauded. Modi has called for innovative effort to make renewable energy, especially solar energy, competitive with conventional energy and pitched for global cooperation on repatriation of black money.

Book excerpt: POETRY: A Delightful Journey Through Life is an arrangement of over eighty well-selected classical poems into eight basic life stages in which most people pass through or experience in the course of a lifetime. These eight stages are Childhood, Beyond a Bumbling Society, In Search of Love, On Pain and Irony, Satisfaction with the Simple Things of Life, The Seasons, On Death, and Lines to Lift and Inspire. Each of the eight stages is first introduced within an appropriate setting or frame of mind under which the selected poems follow. The reader is then carefully introduced to each poem, making it more readily understood. Inasmuch as poetry generally uses figurative symbols and imagery, the reader, coming from any number of backgrounds of education and experience, is allowed to put his or her own finishing touches on the poem, and can thus experience personal enjoyment from the poetic images embodied in the poems.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book The Journey of Advaita elucidates the richness, depth and profundity of Advaitic thought right from Vedas to Integral Advaitism of Sri Aurobindo and further how it is being incorporated in modern science. Advaita Philosophy is not a later development of thought as one of the six systems of Indian philosophy. Vedas are replete with suggestions about Unity. The earlier stage of naturalistic and anthropomorphic polytheism yielded to monistic belief. In the dictum, ekam sad viprā bahudhā vadanti we perceive an echo of Unity. Upaniṣadic seers picked up this Unity and tirelessly went in their search till they came to the highest conclusion, tat tvam asi. This concept of Unity gets its full bloom in Śaṅkara’s Kevalādvaita; later on it gave inspiration to different rivulets of Vedānta schools. Śaṅkara’s unqualified impersonal Brahman could not satisfy those who sought loving communion with God. Consequently different schools of Bhakti-Vedānta came into existence, namely, Viśiṣṭādvaita of Rāmānuja, Dvaita of Madhva, Dvaitādvaita of Nimbārka and Śuddhādvaita of Vallabha. For all of them the emphasis is on the liberation of individual soul only, which gave way to Sri Aurobindo’s Integral Advaitism where the emphasis is not only on spiritualization of man but of the whole cosmos. The journey continues further with modern physics. Consciousness is the building block of the Universe and the ground of all beings, which can’t be found in plural. About the Author Dr Priti Sinha retired as the Head, Department of Philosophy, Vasanta College, Banaras Hindu University after twenty-eight years of service. An alumnus of the university, she holds a doctorate and postgraduate degrees, both in Philosophy as well as Religion and Philosophy. She has been recognized for her work in several national and international seminars. An accomplished musician, Dr Sinha has the distinction of choreographing dance dramas, human puppetry and designing costumes for stage plays, especially historical dramas.

How did this real-life Adam wind up as the father of us all? What happened to the descendants of other men who lived at the same time? And why, if modern humans share a single prehistoric ancestor, do we come in so many sizes, shapes, and races? Examining the hidden secrets of human evolution in our genetic code, the author reveals how developments in the revolutionary science of population genetics have made it possible to create a family tree for the whole of humanity. Replete with marvelous anecdotes and remarkable information, from the truth about the real Adam and Eve to the way differing racial types emerged, this book is an enthralling, epic tour through the history and development of early humankind.

This is the story of a man who was blessed with all the good things that the world has to offera wonderful wife, nearly perfect kids, financial success, everything the world could giveand it still wasnt enough to bring true happiness and peace. This story tells how it came to be his constant companion, his place of refuge, the place he desires more than any other. A common man born into the world came to understand he needed so much more. He learned about the journey through this life and where it ultimately will lead.
