The tongue is then pinched, or irritated in some way, and the efl'ect on the vessels is directly observed. Dr Cohnheim has in this way studied the inflammatory process in the web of the frog's foot, and in the We mesentery. The cornea and the membrane nictitans of the frog and the ear of the rabbit were also observed by him with reflected light.
