Book excerpt: This book gives biblical and historical information about the Biblical Hebrew Israelites (children of Israel/12 Tribes) and how the Most High made a covenant with them and they disobeyed him, thus causing the fall of them. I believe that the suffering and challenges that the so-called Negroes of American and the 12 Tribes did not happen accidentally. Until the so called Negroes of American and the 12 Tribes around the world come back to their true Nationality and knowledge of the God of Israel, then can we become that mighty and powerful nation that we was in biblical times. I believe that this book will fill in the missing facts about the true identity and heritage of the so called Negroes of America and the 12 Tribes throughout the world. The real truth has been hidden, distorted and suppressed by the enemies of the Most High chosen people.

Book excerpt: Winner of the 2015 Gordon Burn Prize and the 2015 CWA Non-Fiction Dagger Shortlisted for the Orwell Prize and the James Tait Black Prize Dan Davies has spent more than a decade on a quest to find the real Jimmy Savile, and interviewed him extensively over a period of seven years before his death. In the course of his quest, he spent days and nights at a time quizzing Savile at his homes in Leeds and Scarborough, lunched with him at venues ranging from humble transport cafes to the Athenaeum club in London and, most memorably, joined him for a short cruise aboard the QE2. Dan thought his quest had come to an end in October 2011 when Savile's golden coffin was lowered into a grave dug at a 45-degree angle in a Scarborough cemetery. He was wrong. In the last two and a half years, Dan has been interviewing scores of people, many of them unobtainable while Jimmy was alive. What he has discovered was that his instincts were right all along and behind the mask lay a hideous truth. Jimmy Savile was not only complex, damaged and controlling, but cynical, calculating and predatory. He revelled in his status as a Pied Piper of youth and used his power to abuse the vulnerable and underage, all the while covering his tracks by moving into the innermost circles of the establishment.

Book excerpt: The tale begins over three-hundred years ago, when the Fair People—the goblins, fairies, dragons, and other fabled and fantastic creatures of a dozen lands—fled the Old World for the New, seeking haven from the ways of Man. With them came their precious jewels: diamonds, rubies, emeralds, pearls... But then the Fair People vanished, taking with them their twelve fabulous treasures. And they remained hidden until now... Across North America, these twelve treasures, over ten-thousand dollars in precious jewels, are buried. The key to finding each can be found within the twelve full color paintings and verses of The Secret. Yet The Secret is much more than that. At long last, you can learn not only the whereabouts of the Fair People's treasure, but also the modern forms and hiding places of their descendants: the Toll Trolls, Maitre D'eamons, Elf Alphas, Tupperwerewolves, Freudian Sylphs, Culture Vultures, West Ghosts and other delightful creatures in the world around us. The Secret is a field guide to them all. Many "armchair treasure hunt" books have been published over the years, most notably Masquerade (1979) by British artist Kit Williams. Masquerade promised a jewel-encrusted golden hare to the first person to unravel the riddle that Williams cleverly hid in his art. In 1982, while everyone in Britain was still madly digging up hedgerows and pastures in search of the golden hare, The Secret: A Treasure Hunt was published in America. The previous year, author and publisher Byron Preiss had traveled to 12 locations in the continental U.S. (and possibly Canada) to secretly bury a dozen ceramic casques. Each casque contained a small key that could be redeemed for one of 12 jewels Preiss kept in a safe deposit box in New York. The key to finding the casques was to match one of 12 paintings to one of 12 poetic verses, solve the resulting riddle, and start digging. Since 1982, only two of the 12 casques have been recovered. The first was located in Grant Park, Chicago, in 1984 by a group of students. The second was unearthed in 2004 in Cleveland by two members of the Quest4Treasure forum. Preiss was killed in an auto accident in the summer of 2005, but the hunt for his casques continues.

Beginning with the flight of tens of thousands of Nazi war criminals and their collaborators after World War II, then moving on to the question of justice following the recent Balkan wars and the Rwandan genocide, and ending with the establishment of the International Criminal Court and America’s pursuit of suspected terrorists in the aftermath of 9/11, the book explores the range of diplomatic and military strategies—both successful and unsuccessful—that states and international courts have adopted to pursue and capture war crimes suspects. It is a story fraught with broken promises, backroom politics, ethical dilemmas, and daring escapades—all in the name of international justice and human rights. Hiding in Plain Sight is a companion book to the public television documentary Dead Reckoning: Postwar Justice from World War II to The War on Terror. Book excerpt: In Hiding in Plain Sight, a U.S. Air Force veteran comes home to a family very different and unrecognizable than the one he left behind more than twenty years ago. He quickly learns that the long-duration battle he's about to fight on the home front will take every ounce of his strength...a battle as formidable and horrifying as one could ever conceive imaginable. Sean Torean McFadden was a happy boy in childhood and a happy man through much of his adulthood. His departure from home at the age of seventeen led to a rewarding military career that was his greatest success, but upon his return home in his early forties, he would find a different type of enemy than those he worked so hard to suppress in uniform for more than two decades. This enemy was close, personal, and wore a mask; hidden yet unhidden, known yet unknown, present yet distant. His quest for survival would take him on a long, treacherous and heartbreaking journey in emotional and psychological warfare-where the fight for survival of his mind, his spirit, and the love of one person put him on a divergent, unscrupulous battlefield-one bred in the depths of hell. ___________________________________ All families are imperfect, yet within the expected range of imperfection you may believe that your family is particularly afflicted with a profound dysfunction and that this dysfunction is so severe as to inhibit the happiness and success that every person within that family unit deserves. Sibling abuse is one of the more controversial areas of domestic violence. Society places great emphasis upon sibling relationships exemplified by the use of terms such as "brotherly and sisterly love" to reflect strong attachments of love and caring, but not all sibling relationships are healthy and well-adjusted. Several studies indicate that sibling abuse occurs in more than sixty percent of families, crossing all racial and socioeconomic lines, making it a common form of domestic violence and an area in need of greater research. For many years, very little research was conducted into the dynamics of sibling abuse, and what researchers do know comes from clinical studies. Parents often ignore it, researchers do not study it in great detail, and many therapists find it a normal element of growing up. However, there is an increasing focus on the fact that, in less than a majority of cases, sibling wars develop into a form of repeated and inescapable abuse. One study determined that, as siblings grow older, their abuse decreases. The author can personally and unequivocally state that this is not always the case. It is his greatest hope that, should any aspects of his life within these pages sound familiar to you from your own experiences, you will learn from his experiences, be nourished and strengthened by them, and become strong enough to prevail in healing with truth and a greater sense of self. The word "evil" has been used in this book more than one hundred times. It is not a word Sean takes lightly, nor should you. He struggled immensely with its use and required in-depth soul-searching before determining whether to use it or not. One normally associates evil with demons, possession, dark cults, and the like, and most notably with the devil itself. This book is not about that. It is about premeditated and unbridled betrayal, cruelty, emotional and psychological harm, half-truths, outright lies, and other forms of deception that leave no outward scars. While these, Sean has concluded, are all weapons in the devil's massive arsenal, because of that there is no question in his mind that with the existence of human evil, the devil plays an active role. With that thought in mind, he determined his use of the term in this book was proper.

Book excerpt: Morty Martinez is known in the industry of estate liquidation as a "feeler." If you were to look him up in the Brooklyn yellow pages, he would be listed under "home content removal," but his real job is looking for stashes of cash crammed into tin cans that have been left out of wills, kept out of banks, and hidden away for decades by the frugal elderly suspicious of ATMs and the IRS. When Morty hits upon the biggest score of his life, over $800,000.00, he knows that news travels fast and he must operate quickly and carefully to safeguard his booty, his life and his destiny as patrician of a seaside Mexican village. But what he doesn't know is that there are others after the same buried treasure, including the recently paroled prison assassin Danny Kessel.

Book excerpt: The history of Aboriginal people in Canada taught in schools and depicted in the media tends to focus on Aboriginal displacement from native lands and the consequent social and cultural disruptions they have endured. Collectively, they are portrayed as passive victims of European colonization and government policy, and, even when well intentioned, these depictions are demeaning and do little to truly represent the role Aboriginal peoples have played in Canadian life. Hidden in Plain Sight adds another dimension to the story, showing the extraordinary contributions Aboriginal peoples have made - and continue to make - to the Canadian experience. From treaties to contemporary arts and literatures, Aboriginal peoples have helped to define Canada and have worked to secure a place of their own making in Canadian culture. For this volume, editors David R. Newhouse, Cora J. Voyageur, and Daniel J.K. Beavon have brought together leading scholars and other impassioned voices, and together, they give full treatment to the Aboriginal contribution to Canada's intellectual, political, economic, social, historic, and cultural landscapes. Included are profiles of several leading figures such as actor Chief Dan George, artist Norval Morrisseau, author Tomson Highway, activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash, and politician Phil Fontaine, among others. Canada simply would not be what it is today without these contributions. The first of two volumes, Hidden in Plain Sight is key to understanding and appreciating Canadian society and will be essential reading for generations to come.
