Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sumerian, the oldest language known, is represented by hundreds of thousands of clay tablets inscribed in the cuneiform writing system. Most of the tablets are devoted to mundane matters- ration lists, annual accounts, deeds, contracts- but a substantial number contain examples of perhaps the earliest poetry extant. In this volume, the eminent Assyriologist Thorkild Jacobsen presents translations of some of these ancient poems, including a number of compositions that have never before been published in translation. "What a wonderful bouquet; a gift to us all from a master Sumeriologist, a singer of human achievement, and a lover of words. Jacobsen needs no introduction and this work is special, and should be found in the home of all human and literate persons. It gives access to the mind of ancient Mesopotamia in a manner rarely duplicated heretofore ... Jacobsen has chosen widely from Sumer's rich literature- myth, epics, hymns, boasts, epithalamia, love songs, lamentations, fables- nad has presented us with perspective renderings". Jack M. Sasson, Religious Studies Review.

I have played different harps since 1980, and teach spiritual healing, distant healing and the subtle effects of sound. Can some of the subtle effects of the harp be used in distant healing? What is transmitted in distant healing with the harp? The absent receiver does not see or hear you, cannot talk to you, nor touch you. Anything that could impress them other than the music no longer operates. The great potential of the harp and of similar instruments with resonating strings, was shown to me in 2019 by a group of spirit beings. They specialize in the subject of distant healing with the harp and want to encourage us to discover this potential for the benefit of others. According to them many harpists in the world potentially have a Seraphim energy around their harp, making it possible to send distant healing to humans and animals. Many more harpists can send distant healing to nature and nature spirits of all kinds. I have included numerous experiences and suggestions as to how to understand distant healing and how to adapt our harp playing so it can fulfil the requirements for distant healing as well as possible. Contents: The source of our inspiration; the 5 elements determining the quality of music; 7 levels of conceptualisation of music; doors into improvisation; raising our own vibration.

This book was released on 2015-06-11 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sébastien Erard and the firm that carried his name are seminal in the history of musical instruments. Erard's inventions - especially the double escapement for the piano and the double-action for the harp - have had an enormous impact on instruments and musical life and are still at the foundation of piano and harp building today. The recently discovered archives of the Erard piano and harp building firm are perhaps the largest and most complete record of musical instrument making anywhere, containing never-before-published correspondence from musicians including Mendelssohn, Liszt and Fauré. These volumes present the archive's records and documents in two parts, the first relating to inventions, business, composers and performers and the second to the Erard family correspondence. In both the original French and with English translations, the documents offer fascinating insights into the musical landscape of Europe from the start of Erard's career in 1785 to the closure of the firm in 1959.

Book excerpt: After the events of Halloween, Cat and Shane are once again fast friends, but they're about to learn that the turning of the seasons brings new challenges to deal with... When new neighbours move into the estate – Dr. Becca Ryan, a pink-haired witch who's researching holy wells in the area and her familiar Vinnie the stoat – Cat and Shane quickly befriend them. Little do they know Becca's research has disturbed the very old and very dangerous spirit of Cethlenn, a Fomorian queen who is determined to use Becca and the children to exact her revenge on her ancient enemies, the Tuatha Dé Dannan by taking over the land that was once theirs. Cat and Shane are both dealing with difficulties at home, so when the spirit of Cethlenn possesses Becca and tells Cat of an ancient artifact that once belonged to The Dagda himself – a harp that, when played, could influence the mood of anyone who hears it – she and Shane become convinced that the harp is the answer to their woes. On their adventure, Cat and Shane learn many things about themselves and their motivations. They come to realise that their problems cannot be fixed by magic and resolve never to use the harp. Can they free Becca from Cethlenn's clutches and destroy the harp before Cethlenn uses it to summon an army of dead Fomorians to take over the land?
