General Greene had invited me to accompany him, so my billet for the next day was settled. Some of the correspondents had arranged to follow their favorite regiments, others had accepted invitations to watch the bombardment from the squadron, and a goodly number had agreed to go on the Albany, which was to cruise along as near the scene of action as she could. The seashore was likely to be far the most interesting place, because at this point it was possible to observe both the land and naval operations. In July 1789 he sailed from Cádiz in the purpose-built corvettes, Descubierta and Atrevida.
