Book Synopsis Effect of an Underlayer of Cadmium Telluride on the Reflection-Reducing Properties of Zinc Sulfide on Mercury Cadmium Telluride by : J. T. Cox
Download or read book Effect of an Underlayer of Cadmium Telluride on the Reflection-Reducing Properties of Zinc Sulfide on Mercury Cadmium Telluride written by J. T. Cox and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many years ZnS has been used as a passivating coating for HgCdTe photoconductive infrared reflectors. It has served the dual purpose of passivating the surface and acting as an antireflection coating. A recent suggestion in the research Division, NVEOL, was to use a layer of CdTe as the first layer on the HgCdTe surface. It was hoped that better passivation might result because of the properties of CdTe. A final layer ZnS would then be added to achieve further environmental protection and low reflectance. The purpose of this report is to investigate, by computational means, the effect of the underlying layer of CdTe on the reflectance-reducing properties of ZnS. This will be done with absorption coefficient of HgCdTe as a parameter to simulate the effect of cooling the detector to 77 K.
Book Synopsis 4D Electron Microscopy by : Ahmed H. Zewail
Download or read book 4D Electron Microscopy written by Ahmed H. Zewail and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structural phase transitions, mechanical deformations, and the embryonic stages of melting and crystallization are examples of phenomena that can now be imaged in unprecedented structural detail with high spatial resolution, and ten orders of magnitude as fast as hitherto. No monograph in existence attempts to cover the revolutionary dimensions that EM in its various modes of operation nowadays makes possible. The authors of this book chart these developments, and also compare the merits of coherent electron waves with those of synchrotron radiation. They judge it prudent to recall some important basic procedural and theoretical aspects of imaging and diffraction so that the reader may better comprehend the significance of the new vistas and applications now afoot. This book is not a vade mecum - numerous other texts are available for the practitioner for that purpose.

Download or read book Fundamentals Of Solar Cells written by Alan Fahrenbruch and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Solar Cells: Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conversion provides an introduction to the fundamental physical principles of solar cells. It aims to promote the expansion of solar photovoltaics from relatively small and specialized use to a large-scale contribution to energy supply. The book begins with a review of basic concepts such as the source of energy, the role of photovoltaic conversion, the development of photovoltaic cells, and sequence of phenomena involved in solar power generation. This is followed by separate chapters on each of the processes that take place in solar cell. These include solar input; properties of semiconductors; recombination and the flow of photogenerated carriers; charge separation and the characteristics of junction barriers; and calculation of solar efficiency. Subsequent chapters deal with the operation of specific solar cell devices such as a single-crystal homojunction (Si); a single-crystal-heterojunction/buried-homojunction (AlGaAs/GaAs); and a polycrystalline, thin-film cell (CuxS/CdS). This book is intended for upper-level graduate students who have a reasonably good understanding of solid state physics and for scientists and engineers involved in research and development of solar cells.

To understand the in-depth technology, an effort has been made to explain the basics of nano dimensional materials. The importance of nano particles in various aspects of nano technology is clearly indicated. There is more than one chapter describing the use of nanomaterials as sensors. In this volume, an effort has been made to clarify the use of such materials from non-conductor to highly conducting species. It is expected that this book will be useful to the postgraduate and research students as this is a multidisciplinary subject.
