Download or read book Dirty Electricity written by Samuel Milham MD MPH and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Thomas Edison began wiring New York City with a direct current electricity distribution system in the 1880s, he gave humankind the magic of electric light, heat, and power; in the process, though, he inadvertently opened a Pandoras Box of unimaginable illness and death. Dirty Electricity tells the story of Dr. Samuel Milham, the scientist who first alerted the world about the frightening link between occupational exposure to electromagnetic fields and human disease. Milham takes readers through his early years and education, following the twisting path that led to his discovery that most of the twentieth century diseases of civilization, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and suicide, are caused by electromagnetic field exposure. In the second edition, he explains how electrical exposure does its damage, and how electricity is causing our current epidemics of asthma, diabetes and obesity. Dr. Milham warns that because of the recent proliferation of radio frequency radiation from cell phones and towers, terrestrial antennas, Wi-Fi and Wi-max systems, broadband internet over power lines, and personal electronic equipment, we may be facing a looming epidemic of morbidity and mortality. In Dirty Electricity, he reveals the steps we must take, personally and as a society, to coexist with this marvelous but dangerous technology.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tim: The bachelor auction was the worst thing that ever happened to me. We had to get on stage shirtless, our chests coated in gooey, slick oil. Even worse, there were a bunch of middle-aged ladies with too much lipstick and too much money fluttering their lashes at me. No thanks, I’ll pass. My evening was ruined - that is, until a certain sassy curvy girl steps up to bid. Lina: Tim doesn’t remember who I am. A long time ago, our parents were married, and we lived down the hall from one another. My stepbrother was a gorgeous, hunky football player, while I was a dorky, nerdy girl with knobby knees and braces. Now I’m back, but I’ve changed. Gone are the buckteeth and cowlicks, and in their place are sassy curves that go on for days. But what happens when I get pregnant? Will my stepbrother claim his rightful place as my babydaddy, or will he leave me to raise our child on my own? Hey Readers – We’re back in the little town of Prescott to follow hunky paramedic Tim on his journey to fatherhood! He’s entranced by the curvy girl but what happens when he realizes that they’re actually related? This is a sequel to Pregnant By 2 Men, Daddy in Waiting, and Unexpected Daddy, but don’t worry, all of my books are standalones so they don’t need to be read in any particular order. However, you’ll enjoy the cameos from your favorite characters, including Jessa, Mindy, Jake and Pepper, among others! No cheating, no cliffhangers, and always an HEA for my readers. You’ll love it, I promise! Xoxo, Cassie
Book Synopsis Hidden Barriers In The Set Up by : Sam Oputa
Download or read book Hidden Barriers In The Set Up written by Sam Oputa and published by New York Bookz. This book was released on 2016-07-31 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What therefore, is the incentive to create poor people and legislate a means to keep them down? Did I hear you say capitalism? You are right. The status quo must be maintained. Some may not see hypocrisy in this. But, let us think about this rationally. If non-blacks were to empathize (for lack of a better word) with white folks, what will be a reason to discriminate against others and institutionalize racism? Let’s look at a few angles. 1.Hatred? Hatred or hate is a deep emotional and extreme dislike. Such hatred can be directed against certain individuals or groups. To say hatred is the reason to keep non-whites poor will be far-fetched. Even when non-whites were slaves, they had cherished values of—live and let live. Disdain? May be, but definitely, not hatred. 2.Fear? Fear is a phobia. Phobia is the extreme aversion embedded deep in our psyches, activated when we come face-to-face with that which we fear. Some people—mostly non blacks—are afraid of black people. Is it a fear based on facts or a belief that the black man is inherently bad or is it a fear of repercussion emanating from what our grandfathers did to the black man? This angle is worth pursuing but then, it is just a very lethal phobia. 3.Greed? This is more like it. Greed is good for those at the top. Greed is good for the few landowners represented by corporations now. The rich have a need to create an imaginary enemy. They do not want to be seen as the enemy just like the corporations don’t want you to know that they manage the world’s resources for a select few. They hand out some minute resources, here and there to the operators/managers of the corporations, who are the middle class. Thus, the middle class thinks they are buddy-buddy with the landowners. The landowners must provide an incentive so as to maintain a grip at their corporations, so the design is to make the middle class believe that the lower class is at that level because they are lazy and seeking handouts. Were black people lazy during slavery? Did black folks seek handouts during slavery? Of course, they received handouts in shapes of chit lings, pig feet and cow feet. How all of a sudden, blacks became lazy, as soon as slavery was “over”. Can you begin to see the design now? 4.By design? It is a design in plain sight. Many people cannot see it. Those who see it, are incapable to do anything about it because by design, the whole plot has been legislated into law. Just like apartheid, the various governments and departments at many levels justified the discrimination, through laws the oppressed cannot surmount. It was so then and it is so today with little or no legislative modification in sight. Have you ever imagined why the 44th president of United States is having so much problems with the Congress? You think the Congress populated by mostly old white men are giving the black president a tough time because of race? Or, you think they hate the first black president of the union? If you answered yes to any of these questions you are yet to understand the workings of a country, some have christened “God’s own Country”. The fear of a black president undoing four hundred years of discriminative laws, the phobia of taking down the protections of the rich landowners and the enforcers of that protection led to a section of a congress to proclaim from day 1 of the black president’s inauguration: “if Obama wants it, we reject it right off the bat.” This simply means, an opposition to President Obama’s policies on all fronts. Some were not hiding their enthusiasm for an Obama failure, they worked for it. They feared an Obama presidency that might implement programs that would invite non-whites to participate thus engaging in capitalism. Slogans like “take our country back” were dusted up for re-use. It was strategic. They were all noises meant to drown some of Obama’s signature programs like the affordable care act, popularly known as Obamacare. It has always been by design.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The demand for residential communities for seniors rises as the U.S. population continues to age. This growth means that new administrators and staff members often are learning by trial and error the complicated task of delivering high-quality and consistent services to elderly persons. While many new facilities have been successful, others have been plagued by a variety of administrative and financial difficulties. Senior Living Communities remains the definitive guide to managing these facilities. In this thoroughly updated and revised edition, Benjamin W. Pearce offers a wealth of sound advice and practical solutions. He discusses resident relations, operating methods, staffing ratios, department management, cost containment, sales and marketing strategies, techniques of financial analysis, budgeting, and human resources. New chapters address issues particular to dementia care and architecture, and the appendix contains a department-by-department audit of senior living operations. From the front lines to the boardroom, this book should be a part of every decision-making process for improving and maintaining assisted living, congregate, and continuing care retirement communities.
Download or read book The Fo’C’Sle Door written by Les Cribb and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2013-05-01 with total page 666 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whitt ducked under the lintel and stepped down onto a brick floor. The door was a good six inches lower than the doors thresholdbut he had known it would be soand that realization stopped him dead in his tracks, just as the sense of dj-vu struck. He had ducked under the lintel, and his step down had been fluid, almost practiced. He recalled a warning: Watch your step. The floor is a goodly step down inside. Or did he imagine that? The story of the Focsle Door begins in present day Canada with a very unusual crime scene but quickly takes you to the 1700s and the little fishing village of Ryeport on the coast of England. Here the tale unfolds around Roddy McDowd, who has been unwillingly relegated to what he sees as a God forsaken place, as a punishment for his transgressions and a mysterious, striking figure from Haiti Paul Latour, whose fate becomes entwined with that of the villagers as he tries to save his child from a violent sea captain. This compelling tale transports the reader over hundreds of years, and interesting vibrant characters, who through adventures with smuggling, murder and the supernatural, play a part in one mans attempt to fix a deal made with the devil. The outcome will keep you guessing right until the end.
