Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The basic design airflow of the STF-219 engine was changed to 650 lbs/sec. New ejector and installation concepts aimed at reducing drag and improving the over-all installation were examined. The effect of changing the engine from a 700 lb/sec to a 650 lb/sec size was discussed. Endurance testing of full-size air-cooled blades was resumed in the JT4 high spool engine. Twenty-five hours of endurance testing were completed on a set of unshrouded convectively-cooled blades at a turbine inlet temperature of 2300 F and a blade cooling air temperature of 1200 F.A blow-in-door-ejector nozzle was being fabricated in preparation for ground tests on a J57 afterburning engine to determine the effect of this nozzle configuration on exhaust noise radiation. Fabrication of parts for the two-stage fan rig was started and proceeding on schedule. (Author).

This book was released on 1966 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This specification defines the objectives, criteria, and configuration and establishes the requirements for performance, design, test, and qualification of the air induction subsystem for the prototype-model supersonic transport airplane. Differences between the prototype and production airplanes are described in Supplement I. The air induction subystem shall provide the engine with the quantity of air demanded at high-pressure recovery within the flow distortion limits of the engine. Four independent subsystems are required per airplane.

Air Induction Control Subsystem Specification written by BOEING CO SEATTLE WA SUPERSONIC TRANSPORT DIV. and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This specification defines objectives, criteria and configuration, and establishes requirements for performance, operation, design, test and qualification of the air induction control subsystem (hereinafter called the control subsystem) as applied to the prototype model supersonic transport airplane. Differences between the prototype and production airplanes are described in Supplement I. This subsystem is used to provide automatic and manual control of the air induction subsystem, (hereinafter called the inlet). There shall be one independent control subsystem for each of the four inlets. Each control subsystem changes the geometry of an inlet centerbody and operates its bypass louvers and takeoff doors to provide efficient inlet airflow diffusion and high performance inlet-engine airflow match. The subsystems include necessary hydraulic power generation, hydraulic power distribution equipment, and flight deck controls and displays. Power from the airplane electrical system and from each of the engines is required by the subsystem in order to accomplish its intended function. (Author).

Differences between the prototype and production airplanes are described. The air induction subsystem shall provide the engine with the quantity of air demanded at high-pressure recovery within the flow distortion limits of the engine. This subsystem requires a control subsystem and an anti-icing subsystem. The installation of the subsystem is defined by specification D6A10113-1. Four independent subsystems are required per airplane.
