Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many reasons to make as many groceries at home as possible. The lack of chemicals and preservatives, financial savings and health benefits. Unless you are 100% self-sufficient, you can't make everything from scratch you purchase from the grocery store. I will give you tips to make those purchased items more economical and ways to store them. I live in a small town and since the pandemic started, many items have been hard to find. I cooked from scratch frequently, but just like everyone else, I started using more and more convenience foods to save time. The pandemic made me take a hard look at our eating habits and the need to have resources more readily available. I plan several hours a week into my schedule to make homemade groceries. These few hours invested ended up saving more time and money. There are a few kitchen items you will need. They are basic items that every kitchen should have. A good sharp knife, hand grater, box grater, freezer bags, food processor, blender, glass and/or plastic storage freezer containers. I like the Pyrex glass storage containers since I can freeze and microwave in them. I prefer glass to plastic but use what you have. Baking sheets, baking pans, cookie scoops, measuring cups and spoons are a must. I have a large freezer so I freeze most of my groceries. Even if you do not have a freezer, make as much as you can from scratch. Freeze what you can or refrigerate until used. Even a few items will add up in savings. A dollar or two saved here and there really adds up over time. We all love the convenience foods available at the grocery store. They are already cooked and ready to eat. Included are recipes for the most popular convenience items. They can be made at a fraction of the cost and the recipes contain no preservatives or chemicals. Your wallet, health and waistline will thank you. Homemade items do not taste exactly like store bought items. We have become addicted to chemically produced flavors. Homemade products do not have chemicals or unnatural preservatives and usually use much less sugar too.

Andrea Hannemann, aka Earthy Andy, presents a guide to plant-based eating that is simple, delicious, and fun. INCLUDES A 30-DAY PLANT OVER PROCESSED CHALLENGE Andrea Hannemann, known as Earthy Andy to her more than one million Instagram followers, believes that food is the fuel of life, and that consuming a nourishing, plant-based diet is the gateway to ultimate health. Andy’s mantra, “plant over processed,” embodies the way she eats and feeds her family of five in their home in Oahu, Hawaii. But it wasn’t always this way. Andy was once addicted to sugar and convenience foods and suffering from a host of health issues that included IBS, Celiac disease, hypothyroidism, asthma, brain fog, and chronic fatigue. Fed up with spending time and money on specialists, supplements, and fad diets, she quit animal products and processed foods cold turkey, and embarked on a new way of eating that transformed her health and her body. In Plant Over Processed, Andy invites readers to join her on a “30-Day Plant Over Processed Challenge” that will detox the body, followed by a long-term plan for going plant-based without giving up your favorite dishes. Packed with gorgeous photography and mouth-watering recipes—from smoothies and bliss bowls to plant-based comfort and decadent desserts—this life-changing guide takes you to the North Shore of Hawaii and back, showing you how easy it is to eat plant-based, wherever you are.

Anna Maria takes great pleasure and pride in her grandparents’ corner grocery store. Every Saturday she spends the day helping to arrange fruits and vegetables, greet the customers, and keep things neat and tidy. Through her day we meet the neighbors and learn what an important part the corner grocery store plays in the community. Nonno Domenico, Nonna Rosa, and Anna Maria supply more than goods as the steady stream of customers arrives. Lunches are made, news is shared, bargains are purchased, recipes are traded, and cheerful ciaos are called. By the end of a long day, Anna Maria has a true sense of just how wonderful the sights and smells within the store are and how much they mean to everyone. Charmingly illustrated in great detail, Our Corner Grocery Store pays tribute to the small independent grocers who supply color and atmosphere to city streets. Young readers will particularly enjoy finding and naming the wide array of produce, breads, candies, and dry goods that abound in this friendly establishment.

Do you want a finger-licking delicious meal from your most favorite restaurant, but somehow you just can't visit the place, then do try them yourself right in the comfort of your home? The hassle of having to drive, stand in line, and pay much more than the actual cost is already enough reason to start creating dishes at home. You'll be surprised at how simple some of them are to make. That's because many of our best-loved restaurant desserts are actually classic recipes whose names have been jazzed up to tickle our appetite. They can be "copied" because the recipes have already existed for a long time. You'll also find recipes here that have been changed and adjusted to get as close as possible to the original. Restaurants usually choose recipes that are easy to make and that make use of simple ingredients, so you'll find that many of these desserts are convenient to prepare even in your own kitchen. Of course, there are some more intricate recipes, but the results are well worth it. A few recipes here offer shortcuts, listing premade pie crust or cake mixes, for example, because not everyone has the time to prepare everything from scratch. Many restaurants use premixes, after all. An excellent cook can cook a dish without any measuring device; just leave them to your taste. But for a beginner like you, cooking a famous restaurant recipe can be very hard. You need to follow the instruction exactly as it is. Your homemade dish should taste like a famous restaurant. You want to impress your guests and be the exceptional host or hostess you always hope to be. Now you surely can. Copycat recipes will let you get the taste of these dishes in the comfort of your own home. The recipes here are tributes to the originals yet change them up just a bit to make it easier to prepare them in your own kitchen. For the ingredients, you will find most of what is needed in the Asian food aisle of your supermarket or grocery store, for wontons or egg roll wrappers in the freezer Chinese food section, and in the fresh produces for vegetables and fruits. If you have an Asian or Chinese or any other market in your area, that's even better as you will have more options for brands. And, with the help of a cookbook, you'll be able to do just that in no time. The main objective of this Copycat series is to bring you a kitchen recipe like the ones in your favorite restaurant. Book excerpt: One of Cosmo's Best YA Novels of All Time A fresh, irresistible rom-com from debut author Emma Lord about the chances we take, the paths life can lead us on, and how love can be found in the opposite place you expected. Meet Pepper, swim team captain, chronic overachiever, and all-around perfectionist. Her family may be falling apart, but their massive fast-food chain is booming — mainly thanks to Pepper, who is barely managing to juggle real life while secretly running Big League Burger’s massive Twitter account. Enter Jack, class clown and constant thorn in Pepper’s side. When he isn’t trying to duck out of his obscenely popular twin’s shadow, he’s busy working in his family’s deli. His relationship with the business that holds his future might be love/hate, but when Big League Burger steals his grandma’s iconic grilled cheese recipe, he’ll do whatever it takes to take them down, one tweet at a time. All’s fair in love and cheese — that is, until Pepper and Jack’s spat turns into a viral Twitter war. Little do they know, while they’re publicly duking it out with snarky memes and retweet battles, they’re also falling for each other in real life — on an anonymous chat app Jack built. As their relationship deepens and their online shenanigans escalate — people on the internet are shipping them?? — their battle gets more and more personal, until even these two rivals can’t ignore they were destined for the most unexpected, awkward, all-the-feels romance that neither of them expected. "A witty rom-com reinvention ... with deeply relatable insights on family pressure and growing up.” - Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka, authors of Always Never Yours and If I’m Being Honest “An adorable debut that updates a classic romantic trope with a buzzy twist." - Jenn Bennett, author of Alex, Approximately and Serious Moonlight
