Book Synopsis The Blank Scripture by : Lee L. Kameron
Download or read book The Blank Scripture written by Lee L. Kameron and published by Lee Kameron. This book was released on 2023-11-04 with total page 71 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In the heart of a mountain, an African American woman uncovers the truth behind the differences between the diaspora (enslaved) and the Continental indigenes (the colonized)." The Blank Scripture is a breathtaking journey led by Johnyqua, an African-American woman whose disdain for Native Africans takes her on an unexpected pilgrimage to Alkebulan. Her quest for healing and ancestral reconnection collides with an untrusting Native African, Atalaku, setting the stage for a story of trust, unity, and freedom. In the shadow of an impending danger, the two strangers must prove their innocence to each other, and in doing so, they unearth the opportunity for the unity of communities and healing. With the fate of a decades-old history hanging in the balance—the tale of the betrayed Cowry Kingdom—the novel masterfully intertwines emotion and wisdom, painting a vivid portrait of the profound impact of colonialism on individual lives. The Blank Scripture transcends time and space, weaving a powerful, gripping narrative that defies conventional categorization. It's not just a book; it's an exploration of the human spirit, the quest for understanding, and the path to healing. Lee Kameron Limen's work is a testament to the power of storytelling in creating meaningful dialogue and bringing about change.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Furthermore, confessions and creeds serve to help assure that the doctrinal faith that we articulate today has not subtly changed over time, subject to the warping influence of secular society. Creeds stand as ancient landmarks denoting the "location" of believers' hearts in history. Noting where one deviates from an ancient creed gives a person a distinct idea about where his or her own theological convictions stand in relation to other believers throughout history. Perhaps this also helps us to discover what direction we are moving. Are we moving closer to Christ? To God's Word? To the heart of God Himself? Or are we moving further away? The confession that I will be recommending to you in this volume is the standard-bearing creed in the Presbyterian or Reformed branch of Christianity. Influenced heavily by the thinking of Reformation theologian John Calvin (1509-1564), the Westminster Confession (1647) is a confessional exemplar of Reformed theology.2 The Westminster Confession of Faith is the premiere example of theological intellectualism absorbed in the beauty of the sovereignty of God. The Westminster Confession, and Calvin before it for that matter, were both completely committed to the theological concept that God is sovereign over the entire universe. Therefore, as you study this Confession you will undoubtedly encounter the Living God as ruler of the cosmos, the world, the events of your life, and hopefully your heart.

Book Synopsis Jonathan Edwards and Scripture by : David P. Barshinger
Download or read book Jonathan Edwards and Scripture written by David P. Barshinger and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For too long, scholars have published new research on Edwards without paying due attention to the work he took most seriously: biblical exegesis. Edwards is recognized as an innovative theologian who wielded tremendous influence on revivalism, evangelicalism, and New England theology. What is often missed is how much time he devoted to studying and understanding the Bible. He kept voluminous notebooks on Scripture and died with unrealized plans for major treatises on the Bible. More and more experts now recognize the importance of this aspect of his life; this book brings together the insights of leading Edwards scholars on this topic. The essays in Jonathan Edwards and Scripture set Edwards' engagement with Scripture in the context of seventeenth-century Protestant exegesis and eighteenth-century colonial interpretation. They provide case studies of Edwards' exegesis in varying genres of the Bible and probe his use of Scripture to develop theology. The authors also set his biblical interpretation in perspective by comparing it with that of other exegetes. This book advances our understanding of the nature and significance of Edwards' work with Scripture and opens new lines of inquiry for students of early modern Western history.
