Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does a time gap exist between the first two verses of Genesis? In this book you will learn about a controversial, lesser known literal interpretation of the Genesis narrative that does not contradict the scientific evidence for an Old Earth. Commonly called the "Gap Theory" or Ruin-Reconstruction interpretation, it is a theological interpretation much older than Darwin's Theory of Evolution. It is based on the Scriptural fact that in the second verse of Genesis, the Holy Bible simply and clearly states that the planet Earth was already here (but in a ruined state) before the creative process of the seven days even begins. The Bible itself provides insight into a great mystery in Earth's natural history at what is known as the Pleistocene - Holocene boundary. Science remains at a loss to definitively explain the Ice Age and the anomaly of the mysterious mega fauna extinctions across the face of the Earth about 12,000 to 10,000 Radio Carbon years ago. Geologic evidence from that period indicates extraordinary global massive volcanism, gigantic tidal waves, seismic activity on a vast scale, and extreme temperature swings on the Earth over a geologically brief period of time. It is no coincidence that the Bible at Genesis 1:2 describes the Earth as flooded, desolate, and in darkness in the time frame closely corresponding to these catastrophic events in the Earth's natural history. Clearly, these two mysteries are linked. The Earth has an ancient natural history that can be deciphered from the geologic record, but it also has an equally important ancient spiritual history that can only be deciphered from Rightly-Dividing the Holy Bible. Knowledge of both is required to correctly reconcile Geology and the Book of Genesis.

We will leave no stone unturned as we venture through the following fields of study: Stratigraphy, Meteorology, Obliquity, Dinosaurs, The Fossil Record, Star Light, Greek, Hebrew, Angelology, Creation, the Fall, History, and Theology. In this book, the Gap Theory Model of Creation will not only take the stand, but give answers to all the charges it has been accused of by the Young Earth Creation Science Movement (YECSM). Furthermore, the Gap Theory will provide a workable model that functions properly with both the Bible and Geology. See in this amazing book how the Bible reached out thousands of years ahead of the YECSM, Modern Science, and Geology providing Answers to the following questions: · Does Let, Made, Formed, and Create all mean the same thing? · Does Replenish in Genesis 1:27 mean “fill”? · Does Genesis 1:2 really describe an unformed and unfilled earth? · Were angels really created in the Six-Day Narrative? · Does the Bible really say that the material universe was created in the Six-Day Narrative? · Was Adam immortal before his fall? · Is there a workable model in Biblical Creation for Modern Geology? · Did the Geologic Column form in the Noahic Flood? · Is the YECSM from within or without Mainline Christianity? · Does our Creation Doctrine affect other doctrines? · Is Creation a part of God’s qualitative attributes, or is it just limited to the Six-Day Narrative? · Is it logical or illogical to propagate an Appearance of Age Theory when defending a Young Earth? · Did the Bible writers teach an Old or Young Earth? · When was the Creation made subject to vanity? Pre- or Post- Fall? · Could the early Church have grasped modern-day interpretations of Creation? · Are the leaders of the YECSM qualified to represent Christianity to the world’s intellectual communities? A Must for Every Person in the Ministry!

Book excerpt: How the mystery of the Bible's greatest story shaped geology: a MacArthur Fellow presents a surprising perspective on Noah's Flood. In Tibet, geologist David R. Montgomery heard a local story about a great flood that bore a striking similarity to Noah’s Flood. Intrigued, Montgomery began investigating the world’s flood stories and—drawing from historic works by theologians, natural philosophers, and scientists—discovered the counterintuitive role Noah’s Flood played in the development of both geology and creationism. Steno, the grandfather of geology, even invoked the Flood in laying geology’s founding principles based on his observations of northern Italian landscapes. Centuries later, the founders of modern creationism based their irrational view of a global flood on a perceptive critique of geology. With an explorer’s eye and a refreshing approach to both faith and science, Montgomery takes readers on a journey across landscapes and cultures. In the process we discover the illusive nature of truth, whether viewed through the lens of science or religion, and how it changed through history and continues changing, even today.

Jewelry, houses, and roads are just some of the ways we use what has been made from geologic processes to advance civilization. Whether scrambling over a rocky beach, or gazing at spectacular meteor showers, we can't get enough of geology! The Geology Bookwill teach you: What really carved the Grand Canyon. How thick the Earth's crust is. The varied features of the Earth's surface - from plains to peaks. How sedimentary deposition occurs through water, wind, and ice. Effects of erosion. Ways in which sediments become sedimentary rock. Fossilization and the age of the dinosaurs. The powerful effects of volcanic activity. Continental drift theory. Radioisotope and carbon dating. Geologic processes of the past. Our planet is a most suitable home. Its practical benefits are also enhanced by the sheer beauty of rolling hills, solitary plains, churning seas and rivers, and majestic mountains - all set in place by processes that are relevant to today's entire population of this spinning rock we call home.

As a small boy, he would look up at the clouds in the sky and try to catch a glimpse of God looking down on him. After all, wasn't God watching over us? Lacking any in-depth understanding of the Bible, his faith remained simple and vulnerable to the nonbelieving, scientifically educated individuals he encountered. Steve's vulnerability reached a peak when he began studying geology in college. The real facts of science--not the unproven theories--conspired to eliminate God from Steve's life equation. Well-meaning Christians required a Young Earth Creationist view that flew in the face of facts. Those small elements of truth could not be ignored; they could be seen, touched, and calculated. Faith could not erase them. Eventually, Steve turned to the God of his childhood, and began to read the Bible. It's message of hope touched him. Could that hope and the facts of geology be reconciled? Genesis and Geology: For People of Faith and People of Fact walks through the six days of Creation. That walk describes what God created, and geology explains how He created it.

Book excerpt: The early chapters of Genesis have generated a battleground between people that believe the Earth is very young (on the order of 6000 years) and those that believe it is much older. What has been mostly missing from this battle are the observations of professional Christian geologists. Webb invites you to join his world to see the kind of work that geologists do that leads them to draw certain conclusions on this subject. It is written in laymen's language and is designed to unite a variety of issues ranging from Noah's Flood to dinosaurs to early hominids to the Garden of Eden, etc. while maintaining the integrity of Scripture.
