Download or read book Methuselah written by Philip O. Cuddy and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2010-11 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biography I wrote the fictional book of Methuselah with the purpose of showing why man brought the judgment of the flood upon himself. I decided to write this story after 30 years of thinking about Methuselah. When I first started to piece together what Methuselah saw, who influenced him and who he influenced I became in awe of his life. Nine out of ten names in the book of Methuselah are taken from three different books, the Bible, the Book of Jubilees and the Book of Enoch. I believe that the evil conditions found before the flood that brought the judgment of God upon the earth is manifesting itself in the world in which we live today. Judgment is coming, but God is longsuffering and has given us a way to escape the wrath to come just as he did before the great flood. Endorsements This is an amazing alternative to Harry Potter. Tom M. What an exciting movie this would make. Brad W. This is true history with added imagination. Aaron P. For anyone who believes in creation this is a must read. John T. Book Summary Find yourself seeing the world before the flood through the eyes of the oldest man that ever lived. Experience all of the patriarchs and their time slot in history. Watch how the world slips into the condition we find ourselves today. As it was in the day of Noah.
Book Synopsis Genesis According to Methuselah by : Reva Spiro Luxenberg
Download or read book Genesis According to Methuselah written by Reva Spiro Luxenberg and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2018-08-02 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methuselah, the oldest person who has ever lived, goes on a quest for truth, expanding the Bible with humor. He writes, My best marriage was to Sheilabenautumn, a living doll. I called her She. She called me Meth Honey. But I suffered from the neighbors evil gossip. I was 603, and She was a mere 133. The neighbors said I had robbed the cradle. The author, with tongue in cheek, traces the world of Adam and Eve, Noah, and the patriarchs through Methuselahs eyes and ears in a style that is a mock modernization of the terminology in the Bible. For example, God named the first man Adam and said, Live long and prosper. When Eve became overweight, Adam couldnt understand why. She explained, I think theres a person inside of me because I feel kicking in my stomach. I dont know from which orifice he will come out. This is a new version of the Bible that will cause readers to laugh aloud.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methuselah, the recording angel of history, is correcting the mistakes in Exodus that the dyslexic and nearsighted scribe who copied the Bible first made. For instance, Moses’s mother takes an entire month to make the basket for the baby since Macy’s has not yet come into existence. The infant’s sister, Miriam, places the basket in the bulrushes of Nile to save the Hebrew baby from being killed. Pharaoh’s daughter, who has severe psoriasis, rescues the infant and raises him in the palace. When Moses is ten, he is taught how to box. At the age of sixteen, he learns how to drive a chariot. That gives him the inspiration to initiate chariot races when he’s seventeen—long before the Roman ones as depicted in Ben-Hur. Moses is placed in an anger management class that he hates. He becomes an unquestionably great leader but never fully controls his temper for the rest of his eventful life.

The preface of the book deals with popular thoughts, institutions, and most sacred beliefs. Shaw gives a history of the different beliefs towards the nature of a human and the universe. He goes on with his own mental struggles and evolution. Shaw criticizes the church and its followers, whom he calls idolaters. He says that their superstitions and legends actually deter people from the divine. But he criticizes atheism too and reflects on how the atheists manipulate the Darwin teachings of evolution.

Download or read book Back to Methuselah written by Bernard Shaw and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-26 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Back to Methuselah: A Metabiological Pentateuch One day early in the eighteen hundred and sixties, I, being then a small boy, was with my nurse, buying something in the shop of a petty newsagent, bookseller, and stationer in Camden Street, Dublin, when there entered an elderly man, weighty and solemn, who advanced to the counter, and said pompously, "Have you the works of the celebrated Buffoon?" My own works were at that time unwritten, or it is possible that the shop assistant might have misunderstood me so far as to produce a copy of Man and Superman. As it was, she knew quite well what he wanted; for this was before the Education Act of 1870 had produced shop assistants who know how to read and know nothing else. The celebrated Buffoon was not a humorist, but the famous naturalist Buffon. Every literate child at that time knew Buffon's Natural History as well as Esop's Fables. And no living child had heard the name that has since obliterated Buffon's in the popular consciousness: the name of Darwin. Ten years elapsed. The celebrated Buffoon was forgotten; I had doubled my years and my length; and I had discarded the religion of my forefathers. One day the richest and consequently most dogmatic of my uncles came into a restaurant where I was dining, and found himself, much against his will, in conversation with the most questionable of his nephews. Book Synopsis The Bible According to Mark Twain by : Mark Twain
Download or read book The Bible According to Mark Twain written by Mark Twain and published by University of Georgia Press. This book was released on 1995 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume collects the most important writings by Mark Twain in which he used biblical settings, themes, and figures. Featuring Twain's singular portrayals of God, Adam, Eve, Satan, Methuselah, Shem, St. Peter, and others, the writings stand among Twain's most imaginative expressions of his views on human nature and humankind's relation to the Creator and the universe. Composed over four decades (1871-1910), the writings range from farce to fantasy to satire, each one bearing the mark of Twain's unmistakable wit and insight. Among the many delights in store for readers are Adam and Eve's divergent accounts of their domestic troubles; Methuselah's discussion of an ancient version of baseball, complete with a parody of baseball jargon; Shem's hand-wringing account of how material shortages and labor troubles were hampering the progress of the ark his father, Noah, was building; a description of the disruptive actions of the fire-and-brimstone evangelist Sam Jones upon arriving in heaven; Captain Stormfield's revelations of what heaven is really like; Satan's musings on our puerile concepts of the afterlife; and Twain's advice on how to dress and tip properly in heaven. Twain's humor, however, is never gratuitous. As readers laugh their way through this volume, they will find ample evidence of Twain's concerns about scriptural fallacies and inconsistencies, the Bible's rather flat portrayal of important characters, and our limited notions about the nature and meaning of our own--and God's--existence. Many of the pieces in this collection, even the most lighthearted, might still be considered controversial; of some of the darker pieces, Twain himself acknowledged that they would be heretical in any age. Moreover, these writings are valuable cultural artifacts of a time when, across the Western world, fundamental religious beliefs were being called into question by the precepts of Darwinism and the rapid advances of science and technology. Several of this volume's selections are previously unpublished; others, like Letters from the Earth, are classics. Virtually all have been newly edited to reflect as closely as possible Twain's final intentions for their form and content. For serious Twain devotees, editors Howard G. Baetzhold and Joseph B. McCullough have supplied an abundance of background material on the writings, including details on the history of their composition, publication, and relevance to the Twain canon.
