Book excerpt: For Saul ben Kish, life will never be the same. What begins as a search for his father's wayward donkeys becomes a call to courage, and obedience. An epic tale of kingship; a journey into the heart of the Judean Mountains and across the sun-baked desert where the meek rise and the proud fall, and a stone is mightier than the sword.

Book excerpt: The "Rise of the Anointed Ones" is a 40-day devotional book that perfectly fits our present times. As you read through the 40 devotionals, you will find a beautiful blend of timeless truths fitly applied to today's culture and challenges. The majestic flow from theme to theme contains powerful prophetic revelations as God calls His Anointed Ones to rise. Each of these devotionals stands on its own, but together they will propel the reader into a rewarding journey of experiencing God's presence in tumultuous times. Each devotional ends with a Davidic poem in nature flowing like a delightful stream with heavenly impartations. "Rise of the Anointed Ones" is like a voice in the wilderness calling God's beloved away from all that distracts to Him who is jealous for His bride. There is no doubt we are in the midst of tumultuous times. As we experience one catastrophe after another amid a worldwide pandemic, it is obvious. Riots with cities in flames, hurricanes, earthquakes, political unrest, and turmoil amid a world filled with hatred towards those who think differently are all part of what has now become our normalized world. It appears our world is falling apart at its seams. As Christians, what are we to do in an environment controlled by violence, fear, and the terror of what is to come? Have we been anointed for such a time as this? Is this not a time for the saints of God to arise in amid the darkness with the anointing of the Holy Spirit infilling us as we go forth into the harvest fields of the world? The devotionals in this book challenge the reader to rise as the anointed ones in this critical hour of the Church's destiny. Reviews: Ken Birks has written a masterpiece of superb continuity. Each daily devotional, along with the poem, and special prayer, became my favorite in the whole book - until I read the next one. The majestic flow from theme to theme contains powerful prophetic revelation, as God calls His end-time warriors to arise. I was also amazed by the poems that followed each devotional - the words were Davidic and musical - they flowed like a delightful stream with heavenly impartations. - Edward Becker "There are few authors who can take theology and turn it into a devotional series of divine, inspiring nuggets and poetry. Ken Birks is an author who penetrates your heart and soul to know God better. - Dr. Jay Zinn When thinking about reading a devotional, one must ask themselves two questions: Is it relevant, and what makes it stand apart from the myriad of devotionals one can choose from? From my perspective, devotionals can be vital tools in improving upon our quiet time experience with God. They should be able to bring scriptural insight to us. Scripture is far more important than the words of even the most famous of authors, for it is Scripture that penetrates our souls with God's wisdom and daily guidance. Ken's work ensures that God's Word takes center stage and holds the most important place within it so that it remains both timeless and relevant. - Doug Hartline

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to the Mystery of the Church is an ecclesiological survey presenting a doctrinal synthesis of the Church. The author's intention is to propose an overview of this mystery in connection with the entirety of the Christian mystery. The book is divided into two major parts, the first presenting the foundations in the Bible and the tradition up to our day, and the second being an explanatory proposal introducing the reader to the Church's definition and personality and concluding with an exposition of the four properties enunciated in the Creed (one, holy, catholic, and apostolic). The value of this way of proceeding is first and foremost in the proposal of a synthesis that allows one to situate each question in its rightful place, such study being oriented toward a better overall grasp of the subject. As the title suggests, the book is an introduction that should allow the reader to apprehend the mystery in its internal coherence in order subsequently, with the aid of other texts, to be able to enter more deeply into the study of one or other specific point. While this ecclesiology treatise is written from a Catholic point of view, an ecumenical perspective is often present, either through the presentation of divergent views from other Christian confessions or through the proposal for a theological convergence.

Book excerpt: Combining three incredibly important books for the teaching of the Church, The Goldsworthy Trilogy offers a complete and comprehensive guide to understanding the gospel throughout the whole of Scripture. Hugely popular, this collection is being released in this special format and will be an essential guide to be used again and again for those who seek to understand the Bible in the light of who Jesus is. Straightforward in his approach, Goldsworthy looks at how the Bible can only be understood through the eyes of the gospel. This being the base of his interpretation, he studies the Old Testament and its application for today, Israels wisdom literature and its role in the Christian life and the purpose and contemporary relevance of the book of Revelation. This trilogy follows the Bible chronologically to give the reader a complete overview of evangelical biblical interpretation forming an essential one-stop reference that will last a lifetime.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does a first-generation female robot have in common with the biblical figure of Eve? Or an intergenerational spaceship with Noah’s ark? If a computer compiles a deceased person’s photographs and digital activities into a virtual avatar, is that a form of resurrection? Such seemingly unlikely scenarios are common in science fiction—and science fiction writers often draw on people, places, and events from biblical texts, assuming that audiences will understand the parallels. Biblical Themes in Science Fiction is a journey from creation to apocalypse where contributors Frank Bosman, Rhonda Burnette-Bletsch, Krista N. Dalton, Tom de Bruin, James F. McGrath, Kelly J. Murphy, Steven J. Schweitzer, Jason A. Staples, Nicole L. Tilford, Christine Wenderoth, and Jackie Wyse-Rhodes trace biblical themes as they appear in contemporary science fiction, including Doctor Who, Lilith’s Brood, The Handmaid’s Tale, Battlestar Galactica, and Fallout 3. Essays are supplemented by images and key science fiction sources for diving deeper into how the Bible influenced writers and creators. An afterword considers the imaginative impulses common to both science fiction and biblical texts.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the second series of (SAUL BEHIND THE ANOINTED). Here I focus more on the process of the anointed, David the anointed and Joseph the dreamer, and not so much on the Jezebel system, as in the first series, Saul behind the anointed. For more revelation and rhyme of this topic, we also recommend read the first series. Writing this book was a long period of 27 years of research within the Christian church. It was like putting together a puzzle, uniting thoughts and lived experiences with theology, applications, anecdotes. The Doctor, Frank Javier. B, minister of Jesus Christ, is a theologian, an exegete., Doctor in theology, theological sciences, and he expresses himself as a prophet, evangelist, teacher, and most of all, he is an ambassador of Jesus Christ. He was born in 1972, in the city of New York City, and was raised until his adolescence, in Santiago, Dominican Republic, where for the first time he had an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit of God. My platform is about When the prophet Samuel anointed David. The Holy Spirit of God departed from King Saul (1 Samuel 16:14), and an unclean spirit from God began to torment him because of his disobedience, and at the same time that the Lord departs from Saul, we see in the Bible that the Spirit of Jehovah then begins to to rest on David, the anointed one persecuted by King Saul, (1 Samuel 16:13). While King Saul persecuted him for years, David was a king without a castle, but it is there, in the caves and deserts, where David was processed by God, before becoming the great king of Israel. And there begins this exciting true story, which I apply to our perplexities, and many other trials and situations, that we, the New Testament anointed ones, have had and will have to go through on our narrow path, together with Christ Jesus, our Lord. In this book, I talk about lived situations, which we can compare with episodes that some heroes of faith also had to go through, such as Joseph the dreamer and David the anointed. Also in this book I motivate you to continue forward, towards your promise, towards your prophecy, towards your promised land, no matter who or what rises up against your call and promise, I motivate you to continue fighting for your vision, for your dreams, for your prophecy, for your divine purpose, from before the foundation of the world (Ephesius 1:4). One day I heard the Lord tell me in my spirit, hold onto what you have so that no one steals your crown, (Revelation 3:11). Blessings in the name of Jesus Christ. Peace to all. Amen

Book excerpt: Nevare Burvelle is the second son of a second son, destined from birth to carry a sword. The wealthy young noble will follow his father—newly made a lord by the King of Gernia—into the cavalry, training in the military arts at the elite King's Cavella Academy in the capital city of Old Thares. Bright and well-educated, an excellent horseman with an advantageous engagement, Nevare's future appears golden. But as his Academy instruction progresses, Nevare begins to realize that the road before him is far from straight. The old aristocracy looks down on him as the son of a "new noble" and, unprepared for the political and social maneuvering of the deeply competitive school and city, the young man finds himself entangled in a web of injustice, discrimination, and foul play. In addition, he is disquieted by his unconventional girl-cousin Epiny—who challenges his heretofore unwavering world view—and by the bizarre dreams that haunt his nights. For twenty years the King's cavalry has pushed across the grasslands, subduing and settling its nomads and claiming the territory in Gernia's name. Now they have driven as far as the Barrier Mountains, home to the Speck people, a quiet, forest-dwelling folk who retain the last vestiges of magic in a world that is rapidly becoming modernized. From childhood Nevare has been taught that the Specks are a primitive people to be pitied for their backward ways—and feared for their indigenous diseases, including the deadly Speck plague, which has ravaged the frontier towns and military outposts. The Dark Evening brings the carnival to Old Thares, and with it an unknown magic, and the first Specks Nevare has ever seen . . .
