Book excerpt: Doug Campbell was about to enter college and he had a serious problem—he was extremely introverted, socially awkward, and terrified of public speaking. Why was this an issue? Because he knew that he would probably need these skills to find any level of personal or professional success. So, he decided to get serious about improving. The results of his journey are staggering. By the end of college, Doug was able to enter into a career that was mostly public speaking—high school teaching. He later became a regular networker and now has a reputation in his city for being a “never met a stranger” type. He has been completely transformed. This book is a record of many of the secrets of public speaking and social success that Doug learned along the way—writing as if he could go back and coach the 18-year-old version of himself who struggled so much. Whether you wish your communication skills were just a little better or if you need to make drastic improvements, this book is for you. Written to be practical and entertaining, The 200 Communication Commandments: Practical Tips for Personal and Professional Situations may be just the help you need to make life-changing changes just like Doug has done.

It comes with both graphics and visuals to enhance the learning process. Have you ever struggled to find the right words to say to someone who is grieving, angry, or foolishly love-struck? Have you ever tried to make a point and others simply did not get the message? Have you ever walked away from a conversation, regretting how it ended? Of course you have. This is because communication is quite complex, and we are not taught the intricacies of this process in school. Instead, we are expected to know how to deal with our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors such that we make friends and avoid enemies. We praise those who happen to get it right (i.e. public speakers, entertainers, attorneys, etc.) while we shun those who get it wrong (i.e. those who display anger, reclusively, or general awkwardness). With any luck, we can get through the day without breakdowns, conflicts, and insults. Improve effectiveness in your personal and professional life. Master's level professional, Eva Myrick, MSCP provides strategies and tips that cover the following: 1. Emotions 2. Mindfulness 3. Effective Listening 4. Internal & External Conflict 5. Handling Stressful Interactions 6. Avoid Assumptions 7. The Proper Apology 8. Understand Trauma 9. Ending Relationships Purchase your copy today. Communications Commandments videos available now.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the end of the eighteenth century the hasidic movement was facing an internal crisis: to what extent should the teachings of Baal Shem Tov and Maggid of Mezritch, with their implicit spiritual demands, be transmitted to the rank-and-file of the movement? Previously these teachings had been reserved for a small elite. It was at this point that the Habad school emerged with a communication ethos encouraging the transmission of esoteric to the broad reaches of the Jewish world. Communicating the Infinite explores the first two generations of the Habad school under R. Shneur Zalman of Liadi and his son R. Dov Ber and examines its early opponents. Beginning with the different levels of communication in the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov and the Maggid and his disciples, Naftali Loewenthal traces the unfolding of the dialectic between the urge to transmit esoteric ideas and a powerful inner restraint. Gradually R. Shneur Zalman came to the fore as the prime exponent of the communication ethos. Loewenthal follows the development of his discourses up to the time of his death, when R. Dov Ber and R. Aaron Halevi Horowitz formed their respective "Lubavitch" and "Staroselye" schools. The author continues with a detailed examination of the teachings of R. Dov Ber, an inspired mystic. Central in his thought was the esoteric concept of self-abnegation, bitul, yet this combined with the quest to communicate hasidic teachings to every level of society, including women. From the late eighteenth century onwards, the main problem for the Jewish world was posed by the fall of the walls of the social and political ghetto. Generally, the response was either to secularize, or abandon altogether, traditional Judaism or to retreat from the threatening modern world into enclave religiosity; by stressing communication, the Habad school opened the way for a middle range response that was neither a retreat into elitism nor an abandonment of tradition. Based on years of research from Hebrew and Yiddish primary source materials, Communicating the Infinite is a work of importance not only to specialists of Judaic studies but also to historians and sociologists.

He also provides flow diagrams for each phase of the sales cycle giving professional sales staff the best potential roadmap for success. Sales as a Science defines the many steps and roles in the sales process, from planning, to account research, customer contacts, presentation and follow-up, negotiation, and customer evaluation. Book excerpt: How does God respond to trauma in a world full of horrors? Beyond their physical and emotional toll, the horrors of this world raise difficult theological and existential questions. Where is God in the darkest moments of the human experience? Is there any hope for recovery from the trauma generated by these horrors? There are no easy answers to these questions. In God of All Comfort, Scott Harrower addresses these questions head on. Using the Gospel of Matthew as a backdrop, he argues for a Trinitarian approach to horrors, showing how God--in his triune nature--reveals himself to those who have experienced trauma. He explores the many ways God relates restoratively with humanity, showing how God's light shines through the darkness of trauma.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title was first published in 2002.This book challenges prevalent assumptions regarding questions and enquiry. It argues that instead of trying to understand questions by reference to knowledge, knowledge can be conceived by reference to the distinctive logical form exhibited by questions. Interrogative logical form has not hitherto been recognised by logicians or philosophers generally. By providing an analysis which can serve as the basis for a fresh start in epistemology, this book breaks new ground.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our culture has a few catch phrases: Be who you want to be; Do what makes you happy. We are told to do our own thing and follow our own rules, which often makes the Bible appear to be oppressively restrictive and hopelessly outdated, even to Christians! Responding to the misdirection of our society and misperceptions the church has of God's law, Professor Jerram Barrs helps readers recognize the beauty in and purpose of God's rules for living healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives. From the Old Testament to the New, Barrs demonstrates how God's commands to his people were intended to protect them from sin and direct them in godliness. Rejecting the idea that we can earn God's favor through good works, Barrs nevertheless highlights how God's commands should spur us to obedience and ultimately remind us of grace.
