Book Synopsis Testing and Diagnosis of VLSI and ULSI by : F. Lombardi
Download or read book Testing and Diagnosis of VLSI and ULSI written by F. Lombardi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 531 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains a collection of papers presented at the NATO Advanced Study Institute on ·Testing and Diagnosis of VLSI and ULSI" held at Villa Olmo, Como (Italy) June 22 -July 3,1987. High Density technologies such as Very-Large Scale Integration (VLSI), Wafer Scale Integration (WSI) and the not-so-far promises of Ultra-Large Scale Integration (ULSI), have exasperated the problema associated with the testing and diagnosis of these devices and systema. Traditional techniques are fast becoming obsolete due to unique requirements such as limited controllability and observability, increasing execution complexity for test vector generation and high cost of fault simulation, to mention just a few. New approaches are imperative to achieve the highly sought goal of the • three months· turn around cycle time for a state-of-the-art computer chip. The importance of testing and diagnostic processes is of primary importance if costs must be kept at acceptable levels. The objective of this NATO-ASI was to present, analyze and discuss the various facets of testing and diagnosis with respect to both theory and practice. The contents of this volume reflect the diversity of approaches currently available to reduce test and diagnosis time. These approaches are described in a concise, yet clear way by renowned experts of the field. Their contributions are aimed at a wide readership: the uninitiated researcher will find the tutorial chapters very rewarding. The expert wiII be introduced to advanced techniques in a very comprehensive manner.

Book Synopsis I Have to Live with Myself, and So by : Armando Monroy
Download or read book I Have to Live with Myself, and So written by Armando Monroy and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2011-01-06 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a telling of my life experiences. Except in essentials, it is not intended to be about parents, siblings, loves, wives, and children. It is a review of my life experiences, which have been much varied but of little interest to anyone but myself. At age seventy-fi ve, my memory is fading in a strangely uneven manner. Writing this narrative has stimulated my recollections, bringing back events and reconnecting dots in places that had become hazy. Its really mostly for myself. The narrative may tend to weary my readers, few as they may be, in places where it becomes extended, recalling to a degree the technology and the problems that I faced in those times. I say it again: its really mostly for myself. These are the things that I remember.

Book Synopsis Embedded Processor-Based Self-Test by : Dimitris Gizopoulos
Download or read book Embedded Processor-Based Self-Test written by Dimitris Gizopoulos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-12-20 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Embedded Processor-Based Self-Test is a guide to self-testing strategies for embedded processors. Embedded processors are regularly used today in most System-on-Chips (SoCs). Testing of microprocessors and embedded processors has always been a challenge because most traditional testing techniques fail when applied to them. This is due to the complex sequential structure of processor architectures, which consists of high performance datapath units and sophisticated control logic for performance optimization. Structured Design-for-Testability (DfT) and hardware-based self-testing techniques, which usually have a non-trivial impact on a circuit’s performance, size and power, can not be applied without serious consideration and careful incorporation into the processor design. Embedded Processor-Based Self-Test shows how the powerful embedded functionality that processors offer can be utilized as a self-testing resource. Through a discussion of different strategies the book emphasizes on the emerging area of Software-Based Self-Testing (SBST). SBST is based on the idea of execution of embedded software programs to perform self-testing of the processor itself and its surrounding blocks in the SoC. SBST is a low-cost strategy in terms of overhead (area, speed, power), development effort and test application cost, as it is applied using low-cost, low-speed test equipment. Embedded Processor-Based Self-Test can be used by designers, DfT engineers, test practitioners, researchers and students working on digital testing, and in particular processor and SoC test. This book sets the framework for comparisons among different SBST methodologies by discussing key requirements. It presents successful applications of SBST to a number of embedded processors of different complexities and instruction set architectures.
