Book Synopsis Isothermal Temperature Coefficient for the SRE with Thorium-uranium Fuel by : R. A. Lewis
Download or read book Isothermal Temperature Coefficient for the SRE with Thorium-uranium Fuel written by R. A. Lewis and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A measurement of the isothermal temperature coefficient of reactivity was made in December 1960 for the Th-U fuel loading of the SRE. It was found to be 0.33 cents/F° at 350°F and 0.12 cents/F° at 710°F. The uncertainty in the results is approximately ± 0.01 cents/F°.
Book Synopsis Two-dimensional Temperature Distributions in Fuel Rods Under Blowdown Conditions by :
Download or read book Two-dimensional Temperature Distributions in Fuel Rods Under Blowdown Conditions written by and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the case of a loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) in a light water reactor, the fuel rod cladding may reach temperatures which cause ballooning and rupture. To investigate the potential azimuthal temperature difference on the surface, a series of calculations were performed using the FRAP-T4 (Fuel Rod Analysis Program Transient) computer code. FRAP-T4 is capable of simulating the state of fuel rods during a LOCA, in particular the two-dimensional (r - theta) temperature distribution. Most of the effects relevant to LOCA behavior are modeled in the code. The calculations were performed for a fuel rod typical of a 17 x 17 pressurized water reactor (PWR) fuel assembly subjected to simplified blowdown thermal hydraulic conditions.

Book Synopsis Study of Fuel Temperature and Flow Effects of Plugging in SRE Fuel by : R. C. Noyes
Download or read book Study of Fuel Temperature and Flow Effects of Plugging in SRE Fuel written by R. C. Noyes and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fuel surface temperatures and flow rate effects which might be produced by plugs in SRE fuel channels were investigated. It was found that plugs which locally insulate more than 20 to 30% of the surface of a fuel rod are dangerous. Heat transfer through the mcderator would not significantly affect the sensitivity of the outlet thermocouple to change in mass flow through a fuel channel, provided the reactor power is above 2 Mw and the channel is not completely plugged. If a 5% or greater increase in a fuel channel DELTA t is taken to indicate that a plug exists in the channel, about 80% of all possible plugs will be detected and roughly 95% of all dangerous plugs will be detected by this criterion.
