Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the methodological foundation of Islamic thought premised on the cardinal principle of Tawhid, meaning the Oneness of God as the universal law. The consequential methodological worldview arising from the monotheistic unity of knowledge is explained as the theory of consilience, meaning unity of knowledge as the primal ontological reality leading to its epistemological and phenomenological essentials of reasoning and thereby configuring reality. Masudul Alam Choudhury presents a non-mathematical exposition of the theory and applications of Meta-Science of Tawhid, and brings out the essential monotheistic methodological worldview of science.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book invokes the Tawhidi ontological foundation of the Qur’anic law and worldview, and is also a study of ta’wil, the esoteric meaning of Qur’anic verses. It presents a comparative analysis between the Tawhidi methodology and the contemporary subject of Shari’ah. Masudul Alam Choudhury brings about a serious criticism of the traditional understanding of Shari’ah as Islamic law contrary to the holistic socio-scientific worldview of the unity of knowledge arising from Tawhid as the law. A bold repudiation of the Islamic traditional understanding and the school of theocracy, Choudhury’s critique is in full consonance with the Qur’an and Sunnah. It is critical of the sectarian (madhab) conception of relational independence of facts. Thus the non-creative outlook of Shari’ah contrasts with universality and uniqueness of Tawhid as the analytically established law explaining the monotheistic organic unity of being and becoming in ‘everything’. This wide and strict methodological development of the Tawhidi worldview is articulated in this work. The only way that Tawhid and Shari'ah can converge as law is in terms of developing the Tawhidi methodology, purpose and objective of the universal and unique law in consonance with the ontology of Tawhid. Such a convergence in the primal ontological sense of Tawhid is termed as maqasid as-shari'ah al-Tawhid.

Book excerpt: "Due to the interregnum, soon, In sha Allah, to be brought to an end, which marks the period from which Islamic governance was interrupted, that is to say in the Mughal and Osmanli Dawlets, we, the Muslim World Community, experience Islam without its utterly necessary dimension of political command. One oddly regrettable result of this has been that we have started to take our Imams as leaders, making them into a priesthood, and allowing them to rule us like a slave population, which having no power over either war or wealth, allow themselves to be commanded in the private matters of births, marriages and deaths. A result of this is, that in treating the Imam as an Authority, rather than that utterly replaceable figure whose noble task is to lead the salat, the members of the Jama'at have lost that dynamic relationship with the text of the Qur'an on which a vibrant Islamic community has to be founded. In our books of seerat and hadith we find that the Sahaba used to gather after Fajr, and those among them who knew some Qur'an would recite it, after which they would reflect in order to see how they could apply its guidance to the day's affairs. It was in that spirit that we decided to hold a series of gatherings in order to give a start to this dynamic relationship between the Jama'at and the Book of Allah. In reviving this Madinan 'Amal, it was only fitting that we should begin the matter by extracting from the Qur'an itself the clear explications of Allah, glory be to Him, about Himself, that is, the knowledge of Tawhid."

Book excerpt: Yamina Bouguenaya's Living with Genuine Tawhid brings us to the heart of islam, the living art of surrendering to the will of God. Familiar terms and concepts are revealed in a new light and take on deeper relevance in our lives. This book will show how the different parts of the Quranic message fit together. Yamina reawakens the meaning of utterances so familiar they often bypass our hearts even as they roll fluidly off our tongues. La ilaha illallah. There is no god but God. What does it mean? Why is it repeated so often in the Quran and in worship? Yamina returns us to these basics, and stays there, allowing their profound implications to seep in. At a time when religion is often rendered -and even propagated- as ideology, as a fundamentally historical and political phenomenon, or merely as a source of social identity, Yamina's work reminds us that islam is, in truth, a refreshing and healing way of being in this world, and beyond-a way of being from which we have much to learn, for which we have much to hope.
