This book was released on 2016-04-20 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tables of Wavenumbers for the Calibration of Infrared Spectrometers, Second Edition is a compilation of tables of wavenumber values for the calibration of infrared spectrometers. It makes the best use of high resolution results and integrates the far infrared data with the higher frequency values. This book is organized in two parts, one for high to medium-resolution spectrometers used by physical chemists and physicists, and the other for medium to low-resolution instruments employed by organic and inorganic chemists. The first part includes tables of wavenumber of infrared absorption lines in spectra of gaseous molecules as well as procedures for using the tables, including the calibration-curve method, the method of overlapping orders (superposition method), and atomic line method. The calibration tables are illustrated by infrared spectra obtained under a variety of conditions. The second part includes vapor, liquid, and solid phase calibrants for small spectrometers. This monograph will be a valuable resource for physicists, chemists, and spectroscopists.

Book Synopsis Coordination Chemistry—XIV by : A. B. P. Lever
Download or read book Coordination Chemistry—XIV written by A. B. P. Lever and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coordination Chemistry–XIV provides information pertinent to the fundamental characteristics and synthesis of coordination compounds. This book discusses the importance of undertaking accurate X-ray analysis of a wide-ranging series of complexes in order to derive more secure theoretical correlations. Organized into 13 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the properties of alkyl and aryl derivatives of transition elements. This text then describes the two methods that lead to transition metal complexes of carborane ligands, namely, polyhedral expansion and polyhedral contraction. Other chapters consider the argument that organo-transition metal complexes also consisting phosphines and similar ligands are often too kinetically inert to act as good models for catalytic processes. This book discusses as well the developments in the mechanisms of substitution in transition metal complexes. The final chapter deals with the calibration of low resolution spectrometers. This book is a valuable resource for chemists, organometallic chemists, and inorganic chemists.

Download or read book IR written by Nelson L. Alpert and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 509 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of this text was written primarily by one of the present authors (HAS), with a chapter on instrumentation contributed by a second (NLA). The volume was well received, and to keep the text up-to-date a second edition was planned. For this second edition, a third author (WEK) was invited, whose background complemented that of the other two. Each of the authors was assigned several chapters as his primary task while the complete manuscript remained the second ary responsibility of all three. It is hoped that this approach has resulted in a work that is even more thorough than the first edition in covering the basic concepts of infrared spectroscopy. NELSON L. ALPERT WILLIAM E. KEISER HERMAN A. SZYMANSKI v PREFACE TO THE FIRST EDITION My experience with the many infrared spectroscopy institutes held at Canisius College and many discussions with both beginners and experienced practitioners in infrared spectroscopy have convinced me that there is a need for an introductory text devoted entirely to infrared spectroscopy, a text which can be utilized even by those who approach this study with only a limited background. This volume sprang from that conviction. It is intended for all who wish to use infrared spec troscopy in research - especially chemists doing structural work - in routine control work, in industrial development, or in medical appli cations or those military applications where it is employed as an analytical tool.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now in its third edition, this classic text covers many aspects of infrared and Raman spectroscopy that are critical to the chemist doing structural or compositional analysis. This work includes practical and theoretical approaches to spectral interpretation as well as a discussion of experimental techniques. Emphasis is given to group frequencies, which are studied in detailed discussions, extensive tables, and over 600 carefully chosen and interpreted spectral examples. Also featured is a unique treatment of group frequencies that stresses their mechanical origin. This qualitative approach to vibrational analysis helps to simplify spectral interpretation.Additional topics include basic instrumental components and sampling techniques, quantitative analysis, Raman polarization data, infrared gas contours, and polarized IR studies, among others. - Focuses on group frequency correlations and how to use them in spectral interpretation - Revised and updated by a pioneer in the field, Norman Colthup, who for thirty years has served as an expert lecturer for the Fisk Infrared Institute - Explores new group frequency studies in aromatics, alkanes and olefins, among others - Includes completely updated section on instrumentation

Book Synopsis Introduction to Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy by : Norman Colthup
Download or read book Introduction to Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy written by Norman Colthup and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy focuses on the theoretical and experimental aspects of infrared and Raman spectroscopy, with emphasis on detailed group frequency correlations and their vibrational origin. Topics covered include vibrational and rotational spectra, molecular symmetry, methyl and methylene groups, triple bonds and cumulated double bonds, and olefin groups. Aromatic and heteroaromatic rings are also considered, along with carbonyl compounds and molecular vibrations. This book is comprised of 14 chapters and begins with a discussion on the use of Raman and infrared spectroscopy to study the vibrational and rotational frequencies of molecules, paying particular attention to photon energy and degrees of freedom of molecular motion. The quantum mechanical harmonic oscillator and the anharmonic oscillator are described. The next chapter focuses on the experimental techniques and instrumentation needed to measure infrared absorption spectra and Raman spectra. Symmetry is then discussed from the standpoint of the spectroscopist. The following chapters explore the vibrational origin of group frequencies, with an emphasis on mechanical effects; spectra-structure correlations; and the spectra of compounds such as ethers, alcohols, and phenols. The final chapter demonstrates how the frequencies and forms of a nonlinear molecule's normal modes of vibration may be calculated mathematically. This monograph will be a useful resource for spectroscopists and physical scientists.

Book Synopsis Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of Organic Salts by : Paolo Franzosini
Download or read book Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of Organic Salts written by Paolo Franzosini and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of Organic Salts is concerned with the thermodynamic and transport properties of organic salts, namely, pure salts, mixtures, and solutions. The transport properties of pure molten salts and binary mixtures of molten salts with organic ions are given, along with the transport properties of organic salts in aqueous solutions. This book is divided into three sections and opens with a discussion on the statistical treatment and of computer simulation methods for molten salts as well as their results for pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) data. The PVT data for organic molten salts determined experimentally are considered, and the thermal properties as well as the melting mechanism of pure salts are described. A method by which PVT data at high pressure can be estimated from those at low pressure with sufficiently high accuracy is also outlined. The next section deals with salt mixtures, their phase diagrams, and their transport properties. The final section looks at the transport properties of organic salts in aqueous solutions; thermodynamic quantities of micelle formation; and formation of lyotropic liquid crystals by organic salts. Two appendixes showing the structure of the pure solids and the use of the melts in electrochemical studies are included. This monograph will be a useful resource for organic chemists.
