Book Synopsis The Fundamental Principle for Systems of Convolution Equations by : Daniele Carlo Struppa
Download or read book The Fundamental Principle for Systems of Convolution Equations written by Daniele Carlo Struppa and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1983 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fundamental principle of L. Ehrenpreis states that under suitable hypotheses, the solutions of a homogeneous constant coefficients PDE can be represented as finite sums of absolutely convergent integrals over certain varieties in C[superscript italic]n. In the present paper the author extends these results to the case of homogeneous [italic]N x [script]m systems of convolution equations. In the first part of the paper, he discusses and extends an interpolation formula developed by Berenstein and Taylor, and uses the generalized Koszul complex to solve the algebraic problems which arise when considering systems in more than one unknown: the main result is a fundamental principle for general systems of convolution equations, in spaces [italic]X as described above. The second part of the paper is devoted to the generalization of this (and a related) result to more general classes of spaces, e.g. to the LAU-spaces of Ehrenpreis.

Book Synopsis Fast Fourier Transform and Convolution Algorithms by : H.J. Nussbaumer
Download or read book Fast Fourier Transform and Convolution Algorithms written by H.J. Nussbaumer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents in a unified way the various fast algorithms that are used for the implementation of digital filters and the evaluation of discrete Fourier transforms. The book consists of eight chapters. The first two chapters are devoted to background information and to introductory material on number theory and polynomial algebra. This section is limited to the basic concepts as they apply to other parts of the book. Thus, we have restricted our discussion of number theory to congruences, primitive roots, quadratic residues, and to the properties of Mersenne and Fermat numbers. The section on polynomial algebra deals primarily with the divisibility and congruence properties of polynomials and with algebraic computational complexity. The rest of the book is focused directly on fast digital filtering and discrete Fourier transform algorithms. We have attempted to present these techniques in a unified way by using polynomial algebra as extensively as possible. This objective has led us to reformulate many of the algorithms which are discussed in the book. It has been our experience that such a presentation serves to clarify the relationship between the algorithms and often provides clues to improved computation techniques. Chapter 3 reviews the fast digital filtering algorithms, with emphasis on algebraic methods and on the evaluation of one-dimensional circular convolutions. Chapters 4 and 5 present the fast Fourier transform and the Winograd Fourier transform algorithm.

Download or read book Supports of Convolutions of Identical Distributions written by STANFORD UNIV CALIF DEPT OF STATISTICS. and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simple examples are given of convolutions of identical singular univariate distributions whose convolution is absolutely continuous. Furthermore, it is shown that there exist infinitely divisible univariate distributions F and G such that the Hausdorff dimensions of the supports (lowest-dimensional sets of probability 1) of F(t), G(t), and F(t) * G(t) have any preassigned behavior consistent with non-decrease under convolution. Absolute continuity can be included as a dimension greater than 1. Furthermore, the Levy-Khintchine representations of F and G may be required to be purely discrete or purely signular. (Author).

Book Synopsis Convolution-like Structures, Differential Operators and Diffusion Processes by : Rúben Sousa
Download or read book Convolution-like Structures, Differential Operators and Diffusion Processes written by Rúben Sousa and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-07-27 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to recent developments in the theory of generalized harmonic analysis and its applications. It is well known that convolutions, differential operators and diffusion processes are interconnected: the ordinary convolution commutes with the Laplacian, and the law of Brownian motion has a convolution semigroup property with respect to the ordinary convolution. Seeking to generalize this useful connection, and also motivated by its probabilistic applications, the book focuses on the following question: given a diffusion process Xt on a metric space E, can we construct a convolution-like operator * on the space of probability measures on E with respect to which the law of Xt has the *-convolution semigroup property? A detailed analysis highlights the connection between the construction of convolution-like structures and disciplines such as stochastic processes, ordinary and partial differential equations, spectral theory, special functions and integral transforms. The book will be valuable for graduate students and researchers interested in the intersections between harmonic analysis, probability theory and differential equations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is devoted to a systematic study of the Banach algebra of the convolution operators of a locally compact group. Inspired by classical Fourier analysis we consider operators on Lp spaces, arriving at a description of these operators and Lp versions of the theorems of Wiener and Kaplansky-Helson.

Book Synopsis Distributions and Convolution Equations by : Semen Grigorʹevich Gindikin
Download or read book Distributions and Convolution Equations written by Semen Grigorʹevich Gindikin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors apply the results of many years of their own original research to a systematic presentation of the theory of distributions in this monograph which can also be used as a (very expensive) textbook on the theory of distribution for graduate students. The first part is devoted to the Cauchy problem, while the second part deals with the Wiener-Hopf equation and related topics in the theory of boundary value problems for convolution equations. To make their work more accessible to readers new to this field, the authors restrict initial treatment of problems to the half-line and formulate only principal results, in their simplest form. Special results and possible generalizations are presented as problems and exercises. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
