Il testo parte, infatti, dal presupposto che gli “spazi intermedi”, concetto qualificante dei “vuoti urbani” pubblici e collettivi, rappresentino un fattore significativo per la ridefinizione degli spazi urbani nella attuale fase delle “nuove complessità”, esito delle inferenze che le crisi interconnesse – ambientale, energetica, economica, sociale, ecc. – hanno sulla città e quindi su metodologie e strumenti per la sua conoscenza, interpretazione, progettazione, governance. [...] In particolare, l’apporto originale si colloca su due aspetti rilevanti: da un lato, la capacità di esprimere una tesi che spinge all’evoluzione di alcuni modelli conoscitivi e operativi nell’area tecnologica a fronte di scenari che sono in cambiamento sulla spinta delle trasformazioni globali, cognitive e scientifiche; dall’altro, l’intenzione di far emergere e costruire un background culturale e scientifico di tipo intersettoriale intorno al tema degli spazi intermedi urbani e alimentarne una interpretazione progettuale per nuovi assetti e organizzazioni delle città.
