Book Synopsis Stones of the New Consciousness by : Robert Simmons
Download or read book Stones of the New Consciousness written by Robert Simmons and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2009 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stones of the New Consciousness begins with a new approach to meditation with stones, and to the possibility of conscious relationship with the spiritual beings who express themselves in our world as crystals and minerals. This beautifully designed book examines the most important stones that help accelerate and enhance human evolution. Each entry is illustrated with color photos of exceptional examples. The stones include Moldavite, the extraterrestrial amorphous crystal; Nuummite, the oldest gemstone on Earth; and Circle Stones, the highly energetic Flint found in crop circle formations. Other featured rarities include Nirvana Quartz from the Himalayas and high-vibrational Natrolite from the emerald mines of Russia. Author Robert Simmons includes historical and mythological references for each stone, positing that the fabled Stone of the Holy Grail and the Philosopher's Stone of the alchemists may have physical counterparts among the materials discussed. Simmons presents practices for deepening one's awareness of the stones' gifts--from expanding one's consciousness, to healing, to fulfilling one's personal and collective destiny. While emphasizing direct contact with stones, the book also explores crystal energy tools, energy environments, and applications such as stone elixirs and essences that can aid anyone on a spiritual path.
Book Synopsis Water Shaping Stone by : Kathryn Lilla Cox
Download or read book Water Shaping Stone written by Kathryn Lilla Cox and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2016-01-15 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Catholic Tradition requires the faithful to form and follow their conscience. This is the case even with the recognition that consciences can be malformed and one can make errors in practical judgments. Water Shaping Stone examines various aspects of this tradition regarding conscience by using, among other sources, twentieth-century magisterial documents, theologians’ works, and Scripture. Kathryn Lilla Cox argues that while the Magisterium retains teaching authority, and a responsibility to help form consciences through its teaching, focusing only on the Magisterium leads to incomplete formation. A more holistic vision of conscience formation means considering the formation of the moral agent to be a multifaceted process that draws on, for example, teaching, prayer, rituals, Scripture, practices, and virtues, along with relationships with the Triune God and communities of accountability. This vision of conscience formation retains the magisterial teaching authority while acknowledging discipleship as the theological basis for making and assessing practical judgments of conscience.
Book Synopsis Nest of Stones by : Wanjohi Wa Makokha
Download or read book Nest of Stones written by Wanjohi Wa Makokha and published by African Books Collective. This book was released on 2010 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wanjohi wa Makokha's Nest of Stones is the second book of poems, since the publication of Sitawa Namwalie's Cut off my Tongue (Storymoja: 2009), devoted in principal to the moment of the 2007-2008 Kenyan Crisis. The crisis is locally known as the Post-Election Violence (PEV). The book collects over sixty pieces of his recent verse chosen on the basis of artistic merit and social relevance. The poems focus sharply on the tumultuous period between the General Elections of 2007 and August 4th Referendum of 2010. Some of the poems relate to events drawn out of earlier moments in Kenyan history but are invoked as contexts of the recent discord. Wa Makokha's interesting narratives are written in the form of lyrical folk verse. The verses are poignant vignettes, out of experiences of different communities and regions of Kenya, serving as repositories of the memory of a tumultuous moment in the life of a nation. Nest of Stones derives its themes from the commonwealth of Kenyan experiences across ethnic and political divides. This idea of the interrelatedness of the peoples inhabiting the Kenyan space; is in a way, a veritable interrogation of the 'imagined community' leitmotif most often recoursed to when analyzing the tensions of co-existence in the postcolonial world. The heart of these amazing poems lies in Kenya but their philosophy of life is universal.

Book Synopsis Bad Luck, Hot Rocks by : Ryan Thompson
Download or read book Bad Luck, Hot Rocks written by Ryan Thompson and published by . This book was released on 2014-11-30 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of the curse made famous by the hit show Dead to Me The Petrified Forest National Park in Northeast Arizona protects one of the largest deposits of petrified wood in the world. Despite stern warnings, visitors remove several tons of petrified wood from the park each year, often returning these rocks by mail (sometimes years later), accompanied by a "conscience letter." These letters often include stories of misfortune attributed directly to their theft: car troubles, cats with cancer, deaths of family members, etc. Some writers hope that by returning these stolen rocks, good fortune will return to their lives, while others simply apologize or ask forgiveness. "They are beautiful," reads one letter, "but I can't enjoy them. They weigh like a ton of bricks on my conscience. Sorry...." Bad Luck, Hot Rocksdocuments this ongoing phenomenon, combining a series of original photographs of these otherworldly "bad luck rocks" with facsimiles of intimate, oddly entertaining letters from the park's archives.

Book Synopsis Foundation Stone Meditation by : Sergei O. Prokofieff
Download or read book Foundation Stone Meditation written by Sergei O. Prokofieff and published by Temple Lodge Publishing. This book was released on 2006 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Meditative reflection--strengthening thinking and feeling through the will--is one of the main methods of experiencing Anthroposophy. Prokofieff writes: "The best path to this goal is inner work with the Foundation Stone Meditation, because this meditation is the quintessence of the whole of Anthroposophy, given in meditatively inspired form by means of earthly words." Rudolf Steiner described the substance of the "Foundation Stone Meditation" as spoken by him "out of the will of the spiritual world," and as "verses heard from the Cosmic Word." Owing to its spiritual and mantric form, the text of this meditation represents an archetype and is thus a key to the most diverse areas of world and human existence. Depending on "which spiritual portal is opened with this key," explains Prokofieff, "one arrives at one result or another, and one and the same line of the meditation becomes a reply to the most varied questions." The author applies this method in this work and, in the process, illuminates and opens up many dimensions of spiritual science. His research embraces, among other aspects, the relationship of the "Foundation Stone Meditation" to the being Anthroposophia, the spiritual hierarchies, human karma, the Rosicrucian, Michaelic and Grail streams, the Mystery of Golgotha, the two Jesus children, the three spiritual sources of Anthroposophy, and even the Constitution of the General Anthroposophical Society.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of The National Best Book 2009 Awards(in Health:Psychology/Mental Health category) sponsored by USA Book News.Fulfillment Using Real Conscience is a groundbreaking work of insight, inspiration and practical guidance for psychological and spiritual fulfillment. With originality and depth, the author distinguishes between our two inner guides--the real conscience which uses reason and the Golden rule, and the socially programmed "superego" which tends to deviate more or less from conscience. Conscience is our best guide as we make choices in handling our needs like power, pleasure, esteem and meaning. Superego or feelings connected with needs can mislead us and cause numerous problems ranging from abuses, addictions, break ups and break downs and many diseases and disorders to extremism and violence. This book is easy to read and provides a good perspective on fulfilling our needs using conscience and keeping feelings and superego in balance. This unique work is particularly timely to promote peace and well-being in individuals, couples, communities and countries, as we face widespread conflicts, deep crises, and wonderful opportunities for transformation.
