The purpose of the report is to identify patterns in the research findings that suggest the most critical information needs of the public broadcasting community and the most meaningful research approaches with which to address those needs. Studies are summarized under six major categories: (1) research on programing and audience trends, (2) minority and special interest audience research, (3) formative and diagnostic research, (4) development of improved methodologies for measuring audience interests and needs, (5) local station support, and (6) special studies.
