Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Present Book Intends To Make An Innovative Contribution To Key Debates In The Burgeoning Field Of Society, Economy And Politics In Contemporary India. The Arguments Herein Move Beyond The Traditional Analysis Of Cause And Effect Relationships While Addressing Crises In Its Different Forms. The Study Tries To Map Out The Crises Which Are Reinforced By The Ruling Class In India Since Decades In The Process Of Identity Formations Based On Race, Religion, Caste And Culture In Politics And Dismantling The Role Of State In Economy Through The Process Of Market Led Reforms. The Crisis Is Again Reinforced By The Given Political Economy Of The Indian Society Where Masses Have To Sacrifice Their Development For The Pleasure Of Others. Instead Of Solving These Acute Problems, The Indian Ruling Class Tries To Overcome It By Diverting People From The Real Life Issues Through The Process Of Spreading The Venom Of Communalism And Other Emotive Issues. The Society And Culture Is Being Shaped By The Economy, And Economics Does Not Lead Politics Rather It Follows Politics. Thus, It Is Necessary Precondition To Shape Politics For The Better Economy That Works For The Masses. Apart From The Market Based Advocacy, The Ruling Class In India Also Advocates For The Technology And Information. Of Course, We Need Technology But Till Now It Is In The Hands Of The Few And Far Away From The Masses. An Understanding About Crises And Its Reinforcing Agencies Will Be Essential For All Future Struggles For Alternatives. While The Students And Teachers Concerned With Development Studies Will Find This Book Informative, The General Readers Will Find It A Real Eye-Opener.

Book excerpt: Extrait de la couverture : "Contrary to expectations, the recent emphasis on environmental and communitarian rights (as in wasteland and watershed development in South Asia) has reinforced existing gender biases and created new inequalities. This significant volume critically examiines the complex and many-layered process of mainstreaming gender in natural resource management. The contributors build a richly textured 'genderscape' of community resource rights in varied contexts ; unravel the gender barriers in traditional practices, community institutions and modern systems of governance ; document diverse approaches to livelihood ; and present a strong case for gender equity in sustainable resource management."
Book Synopsis MASK DISTRICTS OF ODISHA (Maurbhanj, Sundergarh and Keunjhar) by : Dr. Satya Narayana Dash
Download or read book MASK DISTRICTS OF ODISHA (Maurbhanj, Sundergarh and Keunjhar) written by Dr. Satya Narayana Dash and published by Blue Rose Publishers. This book was released on 2022-12-22 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “MASK DISTRICT OF ODISHA” tells the story of three northern most districts of Odisha such as Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh and Keonjhar, inhabited mostly by tribals in lush green forest, hills and mountain ranges where rich mineral deposits lay hidden. These districts constitute a pocket of prosperity compared to other districts of Odisha, a state which by itself is poor and backward. The study of productive structure and support system of these district that define the living conditions of the people exhibited massive poverty and unprecedented unemployment supported by a small sized modern sector, thus unveiling the mask/cover of so-called prosperity of these districts. There is not much correspondence between the resource endowment and the emerging productive structure, dented by structural rigidities originating from the peculiar socio-economic behaviour of tribal inhabitants and the vast chunk of forest, hills and mountain ranges. These forces called for effective and efficient State intervention possibly by creating a Separate Development Board.
