Book Synopsis The Complete Node Book by : Kevin Burk
Download or read book The Complete Node Book written by Kevin Burk and published by Llewellyn Worldwide. This book was released on 2003 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first comprehensive guide to the Moon's nodes--probably the most misunderstood points in astrology. The nodes are not planets, but the points on your birth chart where the orbit of the Moon around the Earth crosses the ecliptic. The nodes are the key to understanding your spiritual purpose for this lifetime. The South Node reveals the lessons, talents, and abilities you mastered in past lives, while the North Node shows you how to best use your past-life skills for spiritual growth, happiness, and success in this life. The Complete Node Book presents a new and empowering perspective on the nodes. It defines and analyzes the specific lessons and challenges presented by each of the 144 possible placements of the nodes. Both sign and house placement of the nodes are considered for extraordinarily insightful and accurate interpretations. For beginning astrologers, this guidebook provides easy-to-find personal interpretations and a free birth chart offer. For advanced astrologers, it will serve as the definitive reference manual on the Moon's nodes.

Book Synopsis The Shadow of the Precursor by : Nena Bierbaum
Download or read book The Shadow of the Precursor written by Nena Bierbaum and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2011-10-18 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A shadow, in its most literal sense, is the projection of a silhouette against a surface and the obstruction of direct light from hitting that surface. For writers and artists, the shadows cast by their precursors can be either a welcome influence, one consciously evoked in textual production via homage or bricolage, or can manifest as an intrusive, haunting, prohibitive presence, one which threatens to engulf the successor. Many writers and artists are affected by an anxious and ambiguous relationship with their precursors, while others are energised by this relationship. The role that intertextuality plays in creative production invites interrogation, and this publication explores a range of conscious and unconscious influences informing relations between texts and contexts, between predecessors and successors. The chapters revolve around intertextual influence, ranging from conscious imitation and intentional allusion to Julia Kristeva’s idea of intertextuality. Do all texts contain references to and even quotations from other texts? Do such references help shape how we read? This multidisciplinary work includes chapters on the long shadows cast by Shakespeare, Dante, Scott, Virgil and Ovid, the shadows of colonial precursors on postcolonial successors, the shadows cast over Kipling and Murdoch, and chapters on other writers, dramatists and filmmakers and their relationships with precursor figures. With its focus on intertextual relationships, this book contributes to the thriving fields of adaptation studies and studies of intertextuality.

Book Synopsis The Astrology Guide by : Claudia Trivelas
Download or read book The Astrology Guide written by Claudia Trivelas and published by Visible Ink Press. This book was released on 2023-04-25 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How does each planetary sign, each house, and the relationships between planetary bodies influence your life? This essential guide lets you harness the energy of your unique astrological influences and gifts! Building on the basics of traditional astrology with an in-depth understanding of the 12 signs, 12 houses, the planets, and the planetary combinations, The Astrology Guide: Understanding Your Signs, Your Gifts, and Yourself includes interpretations of the asteroid Chiron and the recently discovered dwarf planets Ceres, Eris, and Sedna. Beginner and advanced practitioners will benefit from its mastery of chart interpretation and its understanding of the gifts (and challenges) of planetary energies. Rather than interpreting planetary influences as "good" or "bad,” thereby putting the individual in a box, The Astrology Guide looks at the "gift" and the corresponding "shadow" each planet, sign, house placement, and planetary combination in the astrology chart offers. The “shadow” is a concept first coined by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung that describes those aspects of the personality that we choose to reject or repress, and embracing the planetary shadow creates personal empowerment. The planets are not doing something to you; instead, you can learn to interact with them, dance with their energy, and exist in harmony with them. This informative guide aids in self-discovery and furthers self-empowerment by helping you answer questions such as … Who are you? What makes you unique? Do you know your unique gifts? What needs to be healed before you fully embrace your unique self? Are there obstacles interfering with expressing your unique gifts or are these obstacles the gift? Is there a story you are reflecting that is influenced by a prominent planet, asteroid, or a newly discovered dwarf planet in your chart? How do you relate to the Moon's Nodal influences in your birth chart? Is there an archetypal story that resonates with you? How do the minor aspects to your Personal Planets enrich your understanding of your talents and abilities? What are the flaws or the “shadows” following you around? Are those shadows bringing you down …, taking away your joy? Do these shadows include traumas, blocks, and wounds? And, much, much more! The Astrology Guide will develop your resilience to life’s cycles and outer influences and show you the unconscious parts of yourself that subtly influence your behavior. Numerous photographs and illustrations, a helpful bibliography, and an extensive index add to its usefulness. Learn about your innate, unique gifts and gain satisfaction, fulfillment, and confidence!

Book Synopsis The Moon's Nodes by : Agneta Borstein
Download or read book The Moon's Nodes written by Agneta Borstein and published by Nicolas-Hays, Inc.. This book was released on 2012-12-28 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practicing Western astrologer Agneta Borstein uses an East-West astrological approach to the lunar nodes, their role in synastry, and their importance in the process of the evolving soul. In addition, her familiarity with the Vedic system and its mythology brings a unique perspective to her interpretation of the nodes. This is a revised and expanded edition of The Moon's Nodes. A Churning Process of the Soul first published in 2004 expands on the nodes in synastry and their roles in our relationships. It presents the Hindu myths related to the nodes with an emphasis on the goddesses as consorts to the male deities and how their stories connect to the Lunar nodes. Borstein presents the fundamental facts about the Moon's Nodes and includes a discussion of the True and Mean Node and information on the nodal cycle in transit, natal signs and houses of the nodes and their meaning, especially in how to move from the wounded soul, represented by the South Node, to higher consciousness, represented by the North Node. Includes a fascinating synastry study of Angelina, our modern day goddess, and her consort Brad Pitt with an interpretation of the ties that knot them together.
