Book excerpt: Heart, determination, and triumph This is the story of a boy who fell in love with wrestling before he was able to walk. Born with achondroplasia, a condition that causes disproportionate dwarfism, Dylan Postl had endured multiple surgeries by the age of 12. And yet, he held on to the dream that he would one day become a professional wrestler. Ignoring the naysayers and against doctors’ recommendations, Postl began training in his teens, and he soon began appearing on local independent shows. Before he turned 20, he was signed by WWE to play the role of Irish grappler Finlay’s feisty sidekick, Hornswoggle, and remained a fixture in the company for a full decade. While most of Postl’s adult life has been spent in the wild world of the wrestling industry, his is more than a story of a little person’s journey through a world of giants; it’s a memoir of elation and anguish, triumph and disappointment, and of how an endlessly positive outlook combined with the unwavering support of family and friends helped a long shot become a success in his industry and a loving, responsible father.

This book was released on 2024-04-23 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is man that you care for Him? Is man created to be just like the holy God? What prompted the holy God to give Himself totally, away to the Man He created? Did not God breathe His very life into man and is not His breath, His seed of life? And did God not say, "Every seed produces of its kind?" Can this mean, His kind is actually holy God Himself? For Scripture reveals, "As He is, so are we in this world" (1 John 4:17). But what is "as he is"? And then, what is "man"? Did God not say we are created in HIS image and likeness? And does that not mean we are His very likeness in all things? Is his desire for His created man to become just like Himself? These are questions we will answer about the desire and purpose of His man. Is His desire for each one of us to become just like Jesus? Book excerpt: Navigating the landscape of young adulthood is fraught with challenges big, small, and existential that leave even the best of us screaming internally. Guac Is Extra But So Am I: The Reluctant Adult's Handbook explains the realities of life people expect you to know-but aren't usually spelled out-through humorous, biting commentary, illustrations, and guidance from those who have seen it all. Packed with discussions, tips, and advice on everything from the shifting etiquette surrounding modern dating (Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and tolerant of your substance abuse?) to how you should be forcing yourself to save for retirement (We're all just a few breakdowns away from becoming an interior designer or golf pro), job hunting (No, you cannot choose "muse" as a career path), to the highly emotional and physical trials of moving (The road to hell is paved with shag carpeting). These topics, and anything else that might fluster a young adult, are explored and addressed with the author's trademark wit and self-deprecating style. Add in contributions from leaders in their respective fields, including Mad Money's Jim Cramer and editors ranging from The New York Times to Town & Country. Guac Is Extra But So Am I becomes an illuminating guide to what it means to be a well-rounded individual in a digitally evolving world ridden with student debt and Instagram "models."

This book was released on with total page 924 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 54 Sermons 3073-3124 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to publish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Much to discuss here in the age of #MeToo." --Gabrielle Zevin, New York Times bestselling author From Carolyn Mackler, author of the Printz Honor-winning The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things, comes a story of what happens when "happily ever after" turns out to be less than perfect. It's been five months since sixteen-year-old Virginia Shreves thought her life was finally back on course: she has come to terms with who she is both inside and out, and she's even started to rebuild her relationship with her older brother Byron, whose date-rape charge completely shattered everything. But just as she's getting used to the new normal, Virginia's world turns upside down again. Sparks with boyfriend Froggy Welsh the Fourth fade, her best friend Shannon bombshells bad news, and then the police arrest Byron. As Virginia struggles to cope, she meets Sebastian, an artist with his own baggage. The pair make a pact not to share their personal dramas. But secrets have a way of coming out, and theirs have the potential to ruin everything. In this follow-up to the acclaimed The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things, Carolyn Mackler brings Virginia's story satisfyingly full circle in a hope-filled tale of forgiveness, love, friendship, and the beauty in life's imperfections.

Book excerpt: Luther is a six volume biography of Martin Luther, German professor of theology and the Church reformer, famous for his Ninety-five Theses of 1517 and recognized as a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation. The aim of the work was to present accurate historical and psychological portrait of Luther's personality, which is still a mystery from many points of view. While presenting Luther's psychological picture the author chooses to do so in Luther's own words, analyzing his writings and letters. Analyzing Luther's writings he opts not to write about Luther's teachings and the history of dogma, but reaches deeper in his endeavor to supply an exact portrayal of Luther as a whole, which should emphasize various aspects of his mind and character.

Book excerpt: During childhood, we are unaware of the power we have to change someone's life. That sometimes, we as children need to take matters into our own hands to save someone we love. On January 18, 1976, I saved two people. I saved my mother (an alcoholic) and I saved myself. A few weeks before that night, a guardian angel gave me a glimpse into how our lives could be if she would just stop drinking. From the age of five until the age of ten, our roles were reversed. I was the adult and she was the child and after that night, the tides began to turn and our new relationship had begun.
