Book Synopsis Six Preludes, Op.83 for Classical Guitar by : Mauro Giuliani
Download or read book Six Preludes, Op.83 for Classical Guitar written by Mauro Giuliani and published by Clear Note Publications. This book was released on 2021-01-01 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the exception of the No. 2 Prelude in A Minor, we have followed the original notation for these pieces closely. This second Prelude, a Vivace utilizing primarily 32nd notes, was fairly crowded in the original handwritten manuscript. By changing the direction of the highest voice, flat-beaming the 32nd note figures, and relocating some 32nd rests to the center of the staff, we were able to create a less cluttered score. With the exception of a few details that were in the original score there are no fingerings for the right or left hands. Working through these pieces develops both technique and velocity, while giving you insights into Giuliani's writing style and the harmonic progressions of classical era works.

Book excerpt: Book URL: https://www.areditions.com/rr/special/S_022.html The son of an organist, Carl Czerny¿s understanding of the instrument is thorough and his works for organ¿largely in miniature, but also containing the large-scale Prelude and Fugue in A minor, op. 607¿offer today's musician a pedagogical and practical entree to this often-neglected period in organ literature. The introductory essay sheds particular light on the relationship between Czerny and his English publisher, Robert Cocks and Co., and the reception of Czerny¿s organ works in England. The essay further discusses the English attraction to the Germanic style during the Victorian age, the development of the organ in mid-nineteenth-century England, and the ability of Czerny and Cocks¿s to appeal to a musical society rapt with the "king of instruments."

Book Synopsis The Mystery of Chopin's Préludes by : Anatole Leikin
Download or read book The Mystery of Chopin's Préludes written by Anatole Leikin and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-03 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chopin's twenty-four Préludes remain as mysterious today as when they were newly published. What prompted Franz Liszt and others to consider Chopin's Préludes to be compositions in their own right rather than introductions to other works? What did set Chopin's Préludes so drastically apart from their forerunners? What exactly was 'the morbid, the feverish, the repellent' that Schumann heard in Opus 28, in that 'wild motley' of 'strange sketches' and 'ruins'? Why did Liszt and another, anonymous, reviewer publicly suggest that Lamartine's poem Les Préludes served as an inspiration for Chopin's Opus 28? And, if that is indeed the case, how did the poem affect the structure and the thematic contents of Chopin's Préludes? And, lastly, is Opus 28 a random assortment of short pieces or a cohesive cycle? In this monograph, richly illustrated with musical examples, Anatole Leikin combines historical perspectives, hermeneutic and thematic analyses, and a range of practical implications for performers to explore these questions and illuminate the music of one of the best loved collections of music for the piano.
