Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the Janey Loves 2022 Platinum Award Popular meditation leader and poet John Siddique draws on more than 40 years of practice to offer this uniquely helpful road map to the spiritual journey, highlighting the changes that show us we’re making progress and the obstacles that will certainly come up. This book is a guide to the spiritual path that clearly reveals the signposts of success on the journey, as well as the blockages and traps that hold us back from a life of presence, meaning and enlightenment. By laying out the signs and blockages clearly and honestly and with a lot of love and humour, the book offers a wonderful resource for growth. Whatever level of freedom the reader feels drawn to – basic human freedom, or the great goal of the spiritual life of enlightenment – this roadmap will guide readers to tread the path of their ordinary life and receive the benefit in the here and now. From Signpost 1, The Arising of Questions to, finally, Signpost 16, Giving Everything to Love, the book explores all the indications of progress those who embark on a spiritual journey will encounter, offering reassurance as well as highlighting blocks such as the painbody, object consciousness, spiritual bypassing, the cult of individualism and dualistic thinking, and hard-to-spot cultural, religious and spiritual influences. In addition to sharing encouraging real-life stories, the books also offers a huge range of tools and practices, from using writing and drawing to explore our own teachability to self-reflections designed to expand awareness and let go of ego, to instructions for effective, safe, meditative practices little known in the West.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Knowing who we are is knowing the distinction between our choice and fate. Our fate is to be who we are, truly in totality, unchanging. Our choice is the journey of energies we take within us. To take within our heart an energy so as to experience, is the journey of life, because the journey of life is a journey of the true self, becoming obscured by energies which necessitate the loss of reason and the radiance of the true self. This is a book about the journey towards those experiences and coming back from them.

How did he rise above his early circumstances? It started with a godly epiphany high in the sky above the Paci?c Ocean. Since then, he has been a spiritual seeker, and, as the good book says, those who seek will ultimately ?nd. Follow his riotous path in A Real-Life Christian Spiritual Journey. Fergusons Christian transformation was not immediate. Once upon a time, he hated everything to do with religion. Part I uses Fergusons life journey as a template for the paths of all human life. We all go through stages, and each stage equates to who we ultimately will be and what we will believe in. Part II traces the unity of our stages in the earthly realm. Part III sets foot into the great beyond. Ferguson lost his wife to death, but he has come to realize that death is not an ending; it is a graduation to a higher, more joyful existence in eternity. With the guidance of psychologists Erik Erikson and James Fowler, as well as spiritual greats St. Paul and the Buddha, Ferguson looks back on a life well livedproving that when you seek ?rst a higher power, all knowledge will be given to you.

Book excerpt: Born in 1946, in Murton, a mining village in County Durham, in the aftermath of WWII, Thomas was to find himself growing up in interesting times. Coming from a working-class family where his parents had struggled to make a good home in which to raise their children, he was to follow the same pattern in trying to make life a little easier for his own children. He experienced the educational system of the 1950s and ’60s with all the failings encompassed within it and suffered failure at the eleven, plus an examination that would determine his future education. A taste of what school life was during this era is expressed with concern and humor both with equal quantities, including the teaching styles and some of the characters he was to spend his school days with, which are told with affection. As a child, life was good in his eyes, and he appreciated the efforts made by his parents to improve his childhood experience. In his early youth, he found himself having to constantly change course to achieve the goals he had set himself, and this continued throughout his adult life. His desire to achieve good academic qualifications never faltered, despite some of the obstacles that seemed to be in the way of his progress. Married at an early age and while studying for his higher national diploma, he became a father to a beautiful baby girl, which now added to this cocktail of life. Although at times life seemed a constant struggle, it was no different to many other young couples of that era, but there was always time for laughter and fun. Many of these times are reflected in the book and still bring a smile to both Thomas and his family and friends. Life’s Journey: Love, Live and Learn is a story many young couples can relate to as they may have experienced the same types of issues in their own life’s journey.

Book excerpt: Journey of Life is a look inside a man, who walked along evils path, but was chosen by God to experience an awareness of righteousness and an awakening of his soul. It chronicles the Angel that He commissioned upon and into this mans heart and spirit, knowing that the goodness within needed to be saved from the abyss of evil. The instrument that God chose was Love. It records the first moment of meeting Gods Angel, and accounts the three years of trials and tribulations, loneliness and fear, happiness and joy, and the eventual recognition of a life long image. Through poetry, it conveys how love effected change. How an image of a man was transformed to goodness by the persistence, dedication, faith and unwavering love the Angel possessed for him. It reveals the iniquity that was inside him and the hurt that he imposed upon others, including the Angel. It shows how love does prevail, despite the obstacles of life, regardless of the circumstances of negativity, and in spite of actions or events that were intended to destroy that which God intended to provide. It illustrates the bond between two individuals, where a foundation of love was undeniable and an unexplainable connection was impassioned. It describes how a man became closer to God, appreciated life more than ever before, recognized himself, sought and achieved change, learned integrity, honor, and truth from the whispers of an Angel, , and was rewarded with everlasting love.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The call to teach means different things to different people. This collection contends, however, that, at the very least, faithful work in the teaching vocation involves excellence, commitment, and community. Representing diverse disciplines and institutional perspectives from a Christian research university, the contributors present reflections based on personal experience, empirical data, and theoretical models. This wide-ranging collection offers insight, encouragement, and a challenge to teachers in all areas of Christian higher education. Building upon the legacy of thoughtful teaching at Baylor University while looking toward the future of higher education, this collection is framed for Christians who teach in higher education but who are also committed to research and graduate training.
