Also, the book depicts how God worked to build a people before He allowed the Shiloh Baptist Church members to build Him an edifice.

Those who pledged a month's schooling are as follows: Rev. C. C. Clark, Miss Mary M. Garns, supervisor of War ren county, Brother J. B. Jordan. Rev. B. Harper said he would help some. Rev. T. V. Walker said his church, Belton Creek, would give two months schooling. Prof. G. E. Cheek responded to the sayings of these broad hearted people who pledge to help this motherless child to make a man of him self.
