Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A small group of perhaps 10 or 30 people come together to spend some days in silent meditation. It is not important which gender, ethnicity or religion they might identify with; all are welcome. Old age or physical disability is not a hindrance. This meditation is open for everyone. Sitting silently in a hall, breathing, sensing the body, seeing the light reflected from the floor, being in touch with the people around. Who or what are we to be? Nobody special? Can it be enough to flow with the stream of aliveness, which is here in utter simplicity, no separation, no wanting, no missing? When no separating thoughts or feelings appear, everything is complete as it is. How do we live our everyday lives? Is there space to open up, to become aware? Are we truly in touch with what surrounds us or what is inside of us? Honestly, our lives are crowded with constant thoughts, actions and reactions. We are often overwhelmed and we switch to 'autopilot' to get through the daily challenges. Are we victims of our automated programs? Is it inevitable to live most of the time in chaos, feeling helplessly exposed to a world that offers not even a moment to contemplate? The central expression of this book is awareness. Awareness is a state of being present in the actual moment, being here in the actual truth that unfolds directly in front of our eyes. Everything is already complete here. Can we simply sense it, feel it - without judgment, without knowledge or explanation? No need to identify with anything. What drives us? The impulses to act, are we aware of them? A new understanding of all life and nature, including us, may dawn from such simple silent awareness. Not a new concept of the world or of who we are. Concepts are part of the observed. Awareness is an understanding emerging from the truth of this moment.

One Hundred Days of Silence is a scathing look at the challenges of humanitarian intervention, the history of U.S. policy toward the 1994 Rwanda genocide, and the role of genocide in the larger context of strategic studies. It looks at the principal questions of what the U.S. knew, and why it didn't intervene, and how non-intervention was justified within the American bureaucracy.

Book excerpt: There are two essential elements to the spiritual path says this popular teacher from the lineage of Chögyam Trungpa: (1) understanding that you’re already enlightened, already perfect in wisdom right here and now, and (2) accessing that natural wakefulness through spiritual practice. These two aspects depend upon each other and work together. Gaylon Ferguson’s teaching on the twin aspects of view and practice is a perfect introduction for the beginning meditator and it offers fresh perspectives for the non-beginner too.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A luminous, moving and visual record of fleeting moments of connection.” —New York Times Book Review, Editors’ Choice A visionary work of radical empathy. Known for immersion journalism that is more immersed than most people are willing to go, and for a prose style that is somehow both fierce and soulful, Jeff Sharlet dives deep into the darkness around us and awaiting us. This work began when his father had a heart attack; two years later, Jeff, still in his forties, had a heart attack of his own. In the grip of writerly self-doubt, Jeff turned to images, taking snapshots and posting them on Instagram, writing short, true stories that bloomed into documentary. During those two years, he spent a lot of time on the road: meeting strangers working night shifts as he drove through the mountains to see his father; exploring the life and death of Charley Keunang, a once-aspiring actor shot by the police on LA’s Skid Row; documenting gay pride amidst the violent homophobia of Putin’s Russia; passing time with homeless teen addicts in Dublin; and accompanying a lonely woman, whose only friend was a houseplant, on shopping trips. Early readers have called this book “incantatory,” the voice “prophetic,” in “James Agee’s tradition of looking at the reality of American lives.” Defined by insomnia and late-night driving and the companionship of other darkness-dwellers—night bakers and last-call drinkers, frightened people and frightening people, the homeless, the lost (or merely disoriented), and other people on the margins—This Brilliant Darkness erases the boundaries between author, subject, and reader to ask: how do people live with suffering?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Christians think of end times prophecy as a gigantic, intimidating puzzle -- difficult to piece together and impossible to figure out. But every puzzle can be solved if you approach it the right way. Paul Benware compares prophecy to a picture puzzle. Putting the edge pieces together first builds the 'framework' that makes it easier to fit the other pieces in their place. According to Benware, the framework for eschatology is the biblical covenants. He begins his comprehensive survey by explaining the major covenants. Then he discusses several different interpretations of end times prophecy. Benware digs into the details of the Rapture, the Great Tribulation, the judgements and resurrections, and the millennial kingdom. But he also adds a unique, personal element to the study, answering questions as: -Why study bible prophecy? -What difference does it make if I'm premillenial or amillenial? If what the Bible says about the future puzzles you, Understanding End Times Prophecy will help you put together the pieces and see the big picture.

He had taken the precaution of depositing his cup and saucer on the soft turf beneath his chair, because he knew that, under the stress of sudden emotion, china—especially the bestchina—had a way of flying off his knee. And there was no question as to the exquisite quality of the china on the dainty tea-table over which Miss Christobel Charteris presided. The Boy had watched her pouring the tea into those pretty rose-leaf cups, nearly every afternoon during the golden two weeks just over. He knew every movement of those firm white hands, so soft, yet so strong and capable. The Boy used to stand beside her, ready to hand Mollie's cup, as punctiliously as if a dozen girls had been sitting in the old garden, waiting to be quickly served by the only man. The Boy enjoyed being the only man. Also he had quite charming manners. He never allowed the passing of bread-and-butter to interfere with the flow of conversation; yet the bread-and-butter was always within reach at the precise moment you wanted it, though the Boy's bright eyes were fixed just then in keenest interest on the person who happened to be speaking, and not a point of the story, or a word of the remark, was missed either by him or by you. He used to watch the Aunt's beautiful hands very closely; and at last, every time he looked at them, his brown eyes kissed them. The Boy thought this was a delightful secret known only to himself. But one day, when he was bending over her, holding his own cup while she filled it, the Aunt suddenly said: "Don't!" It was so startling and unexpected, that the cup almost flew out of his hand. The Boy might have said: "Don't what?" which would have put the Aunt in a difficulty, because it would have been so very impossible to explain. But he was too honest. He at once didn't, and felt a little shy for five minutes; then recovered, and hugged himself with a fearful joy at the thought that she had known his eyes had kissed her dear beautiful hands; then stole a look at her calm face, so completely unmoved in its classic beauty, and thought he must have been mistaken; only—what on earth else could she have said "Don't!" about, at that moment? But Mollie was there, then; so no explanations were possible. Now at last, thank goodness, Mollie had gone, and his own seven days had begun. This was the first day; and he was going to tell her everything. There was absolutely nothing he would not be able to tell her. The delight of this fairly swept the Boy off his feet. He had kept on the curb so long; and he was not used to curbs of any kind.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sentiment as the book closes packed with information breathed into heart and mind is to desire you have found our Lord to be honest and full of love toward his creation. He honestly informs us of the end coming as the church prepared for her resurrection trumpet to sound. The scriptures pertaining to the first three and a half years of seven-week years of Daniel is so full of imagery and the conclusion must have had many words taken from imagery through visions that are hard to understand. Consequently, the same vision of John's revelation are written plainly and simple, rolling up all of Daniel's entities into two basic ones. One is the appearance of the beast out of the sea having seven heads and ten horns are both the Antichrist and beast. Secondly, the beast out of the land is the false prophet sent for the destruction of Israel. The scarlet woman is Jerusalem or Babylon. That is pretty much it made simple so any one reading should comprehend the book. Those who read and study the book of Revelation are offered salvation through Christ as one finishes the book. As well, those who miss the catching away of the bride of Christ will need the information written in God's word. Not much mention of this by modern ministers. You will need information written in my book in order to find your way through the maze and obey the only promise through the terrible times coming on the world for the safety of your soul! Not only do you have to refrain from the 666 mark and the worship of the beast you must also obey the "everlasting gospel" Jesus teaches in Mathew 25:31""46. Evidently with so many failures of souls saved during the first half, God sends an angel close to the first half ending of tribulation to announce the everlasting gospel. Many people have hoarded food and other supplies but are only concerned with themselves. It must have been that many people were unaware of this sheep and goat judgment in force. Those who will not share with folks in need are goats and will be cast out of the kingdom. You survived the 666 mark and the beast worship but failed to share! God help you!
