Book Synopsis [Set Non-Invertible Dynamical Systems, Vol 1-3] by : Mariusz Urbański
Download or read book [Set Non-Invertible Dynamical Systems, Vol 1-3] written by Mariusz Urbański and published by de Gruyter. This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book contains a detailed treatment of thermodynamic formalism on general compact metrizable spaces. Topological pressure, topological entropy, variational principle, and equilibrium states are presented in detail. Abstract ergodic theory is also given a significant attention. Ergodic theorems, ergodicity, and Kolmogorov-Sinai metric entropy are fully explored. Furthermore, the book gives the reader an opportunity to find rigorous presentation of thermodynamic formalism for distance expanding maps and, in particular, subshifts of finite type over a finite alphabet. It also provides a fairly complete treatment of subshifts of finite type over a countable alphabet. Transfer operators, Gibbs states and equilibrium states are, in this context, introduced and dealt with. Their relations are explored. All of this is applied to fractal geometry centered around various versions of Bowen's formula in the context of expanding conformal repellors, limit sets of conformal iterated function systems and conformal graph directed Markov systems. A unique introduction to iteration of rational functions is given with emphasize on various phenomena caused by rationally indifferent periodic points. Also, a fairly full account of the classicaltheory of Shub's expanding endomorphisms is given; it does not have a book presentation in English language mathematical literature.

Book Synopsis Distance Expanding Random Mappings, Thermodynamical Formalism, Gibbs Measures and Fractal Geometry by : Volker Mayer

This book was released on 2011-10-25 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of random dynamical systems originated from stochastic differential equations. It is intended to provide a framework and techniques to describe and analyze the evolution of dynamical systems when the input and output data are known only approximately, according to some probability distribution. The development of this field, in both the theory and applications, has gone in many directions. In this manuscript we introduce measurable expanding random dynamical systems, develop the thermodynamical formalism and establish, in particular, the exponential decay of correlations and analyticity of the expected pressure although the spectral gap property does not hold. This theory is then used to investigate fractal properties of conformal random systems. We prove a Bowen’s formula and develop the multifractal formalism of the Gibbs states. Depending on the behavior of the Birkhoff sums of the pressure function we arrive at a natural classification of the systems into two classes: quasi-deterministic systems, which share many properties of deterministic ones; and essentially random systems, which are rather generic and never bi-Lipschitz equivalent to deterministic systems. We show that in the essentially random case the Hausdorff measure vanishes, which refutes a conjecture by Bogenschutz and Ochs. Lastly, we present applications of our results to various specific conformal random systems and positively answer a question posed by Bruck and Buger concerning the Hausdorff dimension of quadratic random Julia sets.

Book Synopsis Chaos in Automatic Control by : Wilfrid Perruquetti
Download or read book Chaos in Automatic Control written by Wilfrid Perruquetti and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chaotic behavior arises in a variety of control settings. In some cases, it is beneficial to remove this behavior; in others, introducing or taking advantage of the existing chaotic components can be useful for example in cryptography. Chaos in Automatic Control surveys the latest methods for inserting, taking advantage of, or removing chaos in a variety of applications. This book supplies the theoretical and pedagogical basis of chaos in control systems along with new concepts and recent developments in the field. Presented in three parts, the book examines open-loop analysis, closed-loop control, and applications of chaos in control systems. The first section builds a background in the mathematics of ordinary differential and difference equations on which the remainder of the book is based. It includes an introductory chapter by Christian Mira, a pioneer in chaos research. The next section explores solutions to problems arising in observation and control of closed-loop chaotic control systems. These include model-independent control methods, strategies such as H-infinity and sliding modes, polytopic observers, normal forms using homogeneous transformations, and observability normal forms. The final section explores applications in wireless transmission, optics, power electronics, and cryptography. Chaos in Automatic Control distills the latest thinking in chaos while relating it to the most recent developments and applications in control. It serves as a platform for developing more robust, autonomous, intelligent, and adaptive systems.

Book Synopsis Real and Complex Dynamical Systems by : B. Branner
Download or read book Real and Complex Dynamical Systems written by B. Branner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains edited versions of 11 contributions given by main speakers at the NATO Advanced Study Institute on lReal and Complex Dynamical Systems in Hiller0d, Denmark, June 20th - July 2nd, 1993. The vision of the institute was to illustrate the interplay between two important fields of Mathematics: Real Dynamical Systems and Complex Dynamical Systems. The interaction between these two fields has been growing over the years. Problems in Real Dynamical Systems have recently been solved using complex tools in the real or by extension to the complex. In return, problems in Complex Dynamical Systems have been settled using results from Real Dynamical Systems. The programme of the institute was to examine the state of the art of central parts of both Real and Complex Dynamical Systems, to reinforce contact between the two aspects of the theory and to make recent progress in each accessible to a larger group of mathematicians.
Book Synopsis Fractal Approach to Tribology of Elastomers by : Ahad Kh Janahmadov
Download or read book Fractal Approach to Tribology of Elastomers written by Ahad Kh Janahmadov and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-28 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book summarizes the results of years of research on the problem of strength and fracture of polymers and elastomers. It sets out the modern approach to the strength theory from the standpoint of fractals, the kinetic and thermodynamic theories as well as the meso-mechanic destruction. The dimension reduction method is applied to model the friction processes in elastomers subjected to the complex dynamic loading. Finally, it analyses a relation between the fracture mechanism and the relation phenomena, and provides new experimental data on the sealing nodes in accordance with their specific working conditions where the effect of self-sealing is observed.
Book Synopsis One-Dimensional Dynamics by : Welington de Melo
Download or read book One-Dimensional Dynamics written by Welington de Melo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 616 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One-dimensional dynamics has developed in the last decades into a subject in its own right. Yet, many recent results are inaccessible and have never been brought together. For this reason, we have tried to give a unified ac count of the subject and complete proofs of many results. To show what results one might expect, the first chapter deals with the theory of circle diffeomorphisms. The remainder of the book is an attempt to develop the analogous theory in the non-invertible case, despite the intrinsic additional difficulties. In this way, we have tried to show that there is a unified theory in one-dimensional dynamics. By reading one or more of the chapters, the reader can quickly reach the frontier of research. Let us quickly summarize the book. The first chapter deals with circle diffeomorphisms and contains a complete proof of the theorem on the smooth linearizability of circle diffeomorphisms due to M. Herman, J.-C. Yoccoz and others. Chapter II treats the kneading theory of Milnor and Thurstonj also included are an exposition on Hofbauer's tower construction and a result on fuB multimodal families (this last result solves a question posed by J. Milnor).
