Book Synopsis Segmental Structure and Complex Segments by : Jeroen van de Weijer
Download or read book Segmental Structure and Complex Segments written by Jeroen van de Weijer and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2015-08-17 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume offers a theory of phonological structure which pays particular attention to the representation of 'complex segments', such as affricates. The first two chapters are concerned with the primitives needed to express place of articulation in phonological segments. In chapters 3 and 4 the relevance of complex segments to phonological theory is discussed from a general perspective. Chapter 3 also provides a general formalisation of complexity in segmental phonology, namely as branching in the segmental structure. Chapter 5 is concerned with the structure of the other phonological dimension that is investigated, namely manner. The second part of the volume deals with specific studies of segmental complexity on the place and the manner dimension, respectively: chapter 6 is concerned with place complexity, and chapters 7-9 with manner complexity. Chapter 7 deals with affricates, chapter 8 with prenasalised stops and chapter 9 with /s/ plus stop clusters. Chapter 10, finally, discusses a category of segments which combine two root nodes under a single timing position, such as consonants with secondary articulation and short diphthongs.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Segment in Phonetics and Phonology unravels exactly what the segment is and on what levels it exists, approaching the study of the segment with theoretical, empirical, and methodological heterogeneity as its guiding principle. Book Synopsis A Contrario Line Segment Detection by : Rafael Grompone von Gioi
Download or read book A Contrario Line Segment Detection written by Rafael Grompone von Gioi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-03-20 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The reliable detection of low-level image structures is an old and still challenging problem in computer vision. This book leads a detailed tour through the LSD algorithm, a line segment detector designed to be fully automatic. Based on the a contrario framework, the algorithm works efficiently without the need of any parameter tuning. The design criteria are thoroughly explained and the algorithm's good and bad results are illustrated on real and synthetic images. The issues involved, as well as the strategies used, are common to many geometrical structure detection problems and some possible extensions are discussed.

Book Synopsis Clinical Atlas of Anterior Segment OCT: Optical Coherence Tomography by : Brett Levinson
Download or read book Clinical Atlas of Anterior Segment OCT: Optical Coherence Tomography written by Brett Levinson and published by Elsevier Health Sciences. This book was released on 2024-02-10 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While eye care providers are thoroughly familiar with the use of optical coherence tomography (OCT) in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma and retinal diseases, many are not as familiar with its myriad uses for the diagnosis of corneal and anterior segment conditions. Anterior segment OCT (AS-OCT) can help to differentiate between various corneal pathologies, show the anatomy of the angles, obtain information about the lens-capsule complex, and guide contact lens fitting, among many other clinical uses. Clinical Atlas of Anterior Segment OCT expertly guides clinicians through all aspects of AS-OCT with hundreds of high-quality OCT images that highlight the utility of AS-OCT in diagnosing and managing a wide spectrum of anterior segment diseases. Covers the entire normal anatomy of the anterior segment and pathology of the conjunctiva, corneal epithelium, stroma and endothelium, lens, iris, anatomic angle, and clinical settings such as trauma, infection, inflammation, and contact lens fitting. Includes information on using AS-OCT in clinical and surgical settings (intraoperative AS-OCT). Provides rich visual guidance with over 500+ high-quality figures (anterior segment OCT imaging and clinical photos) comparing normal anatomy and a wide range of pathology, including both common and rare disorders and how to differentiate frequently confused conditions. Provides a well-rounded perspective of AS-OCT, including how to use, understand, and capture images. Links high-quality slit lamp images to the corresponding AS-OCT image with clear labels to show the pathology side by side. Features clinical pearls in each chapter to relate key AS-OCT and clinical findings to everyday practice.
Book Synopsis Anterior & Posterior Segment OCT: Current Technology & Future Applications by : Ashok Garg
Download or read book Anterior & Posterior Segment OCT: Current Technology & Future Applications written by Ashok Garg and published by JP Medical Ltd. This book was released on 2014-01-30 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of the retina, the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye (geteyesmart.org). Anterior segment OCT covers structures in front of the vitreous humour – iris, cornea, lens and ciliary body. Posterior segment OCT includes the anterior hyaloid membrane and all the structures behind it – vitreous humour, retina, choroid and optic nerve. This book is a comprehensive guide to the use of OCT in anterior and posterior segment surgery. Beginning with an introduction to the technique, the following chapters examine OCT for numerous different procedures including for corneal disorders, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, keratoconus and refractive surgery. The accompanying interactive DVD ROM demonstrates intraoperative use of OCT for different surgical procedures. Key points Comprehensive guide to OCT in anterior and posterior segment surgery Covers numerous procedures for different parts of the eye Interactive DVD ROM demonstrates intraoperative use of OCT Includes nearly 270 clinical photographs, diagrams and tables
