A charismatic neighbor, smelling this, fed him Hussite truths, and then bang!: he and his wife get baptized. Suddenly he's a fanatic, drops his friends, dismisses all plans, and enrols to become a Seventh-day Hussite minister. He graduates as one of the chosen few who can go out to recruit souls. He pulls big crowds in Sydney. In Papua New Guinea the villagers tell him Hussite missionaries tricked them out of their mountain for a bag of shells. They want their mountain back. He gives it to them! The Church is furious--but backers in high places get him a scholarship to the USA. There he's the Moses from Melbourne, the hot-shot evangelist from Down Under, swaggering across campus and perfecting his soul-winning stage show--until, on a dare, he discovers secret papers that show his religion is a sham. His mind is tumbling! He concludes his study and retreats to New Zealand. Soon Hussitism is defending itself against religious fraud. It closes ranks, whitewashes its history, purges hundreds of ministers. He becomes a target, is spied upon, lied about, goes from superstar to outcast. He moves sideways, undertakes a PhD in America, keeps his head down. But they hit him with a new ambush. This time he's too weary to go on. And his wife wanted out. And so, at 43, he headed home to the Australian bush, no money, no prospects. But he's a fighter: he sued them for the way they treated him, and he beat the bastards.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A bold and persuasive case for abandoning old religions and still believing in God In this book, Mark Johnston argues that God needs to be saved not only from the distortions of the "undergraduate atheists" (Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and Sam Harris) but, more importantly, from the idolatrous tendencies of religion itself. Each monotheistic religion has its characteristic ways of domesticating True Divinity, of taming God's demands so that they do not radically threaten our self-love and false righteousness. Turning the monotheistic critique of idolatry on the monotheisms themselves, Johnston shows that much in these traditions must be condemned as false and spiritually debilitating. A central claim of the book is that supernaturalism is idolatry. If this is right, everything changes; we cannot place our salvation in jeopardy by tying it essentially to the supernatural cosmologies of the ancient Near East. Remarkably, Johnston rehabilitates the ideas of the Fall and of salvation within a naturalistic framework; he then presents a conception of God that both resists idolatry and is wholly consistent with the deliverances of the natural sciences. Princeton University Press is publishing Saving God in conjunction with Johnston's forthcoming book Surviving Death, which takes up the crux of supernaturalist belief, namely, the belief in life after death. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many people believe in and practice praying to the Lord, but the Bible is very clear that the Lord also speaks back to us in various ways! This book goes into detail about the 7 different ways that God speaks to us as found in the Bible, and how that applies to our lives today. It reveals to us that these 7 areas are not just the different ways that God still speaks to us, but that when looked at as a whole they are a picture of what a healthy relationship with God involves. It further shows that this kind of intimate relationship is available to all believers and that this is exactly the kind of relationship that God desires to have with each of us. Throughout the book several Biblical and personal examples are used to validate each section. The reader is also given opportunities to see how God has already been talking to them in his/her own life, and then record these examples at the end of every chapter. Each person who reads this book is challenged to grow in his/her relationship with the Lord and is given many tools to help accomplish that. This is important because when a believer has an intimate relationship with the Lord they hear His voice more clearly. The Holy Spirit is then better able to guide and empower the believer to become victorious in their daily walk.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The following message was written for you by God This is God, Creator of all Heaven and Earth. I give this message for you as well as all thus written of Our novel in place. I first wish to tell My children that this book is not part of fictional mind. The lessons within this novel are true presents of faith given of you through My child of earth to present My thoughts of this Holy Plan. Should you be remiss and think otherwise, I will bring suffering of mind around earth through her travel of your countries to impress upon your minds how real this message will be taken by My children. No one will know when I choose this form of event to broadcast My will of your thoughts given Me. But many will fear Our course of action taken when this begins. Now I say, those of you who know Me, will give Me heed of their time and give My daughter just love of her as she brings Our word and direction to you. God has chosen to give earth a chance to change what is written in the Bible about the end of the world. This Plan is Gods Holy way of letting everyone on earth know that through Him all eternity can change. God has no choice but to give love freely to all who He created. This is how Our Heavenly Father has graced us since the beginning of time. Openly and without grudge of those who have moved against His will for their lives. Welcome God into your life for a few hours while you read His Holy terms and conditions regarding this Plan. Be as open minded as you think someone else should be to your ideas, and allow Our Master Being to invite you into His mind for a change. See what God thinks about all the changes mankind has made to confront Satan on his own and how much stronger Our fight against evil would be if we only let Our Father help us. All earth is in turmoil presently, and many people have given God prayers to ask for His help. We have never learned the correct manner to pray of Our Heavenly Father, who justifies our selfish prayer by allowing some correction made us. However, now God wants us to learn the correct terms of Holy Prayer to His being. We need not spend hours in prayer to get what we need to sustain life here on earth. But we need correct manner and guidance from God to know how to live each day according to His plan of our life. Never before in the history of earth, has Our LORD come to us to ask us to give His Soul Peace. But today with the publishing of this Novel of Main Events, God is changing the way He treats mankind for all time. We have never been asked by Our Creator to give Him this much attention before. God is now within moments of ending earth of Evil due to Satan and his fellow angels, who are tormenting human beings to show their revenge on God for sending them from Heaven. Our Father in Heaven is now creating a new world for us, where love is prevalent above all else done. We need to come to God, our life planner, for details of the way we need to conduct ourselves daily. Should this plan fail and we not live up to the course His plan draws out for us, within the next few short years, destruction of earth will begin. God is asking all mankind to adhere to this plan, regardless of your religion, background, country laws, or efforts forced against you. This is how earth will replace pain in His soul with the love His time spent with us has greatly deserved. Mankind has not given their Heavenly Father love completely as was His will when creating us. God created man to show Him honor and give love back to His being. Every time man touches against the will of Satan, in the presence of The Father, it brings excruciating pain of remorse to His being. Time now has changed, for God is no longer able to withstand our pained attempts of His form. He sees us fall into traps set by Satan, with no knowledge of this invisible beast of prey. Now God is on the at

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Is my baby in heaven?" This is the most important question a grieving parent can ask. And even if the little one is someone else's child, the issue remains: What happens to children?those unborn, stillborn, or youngsters?when they die? Can you hope to see them again? Can you let go of your fear and guilt? Can God's love soothe a wound so jagged? With scriptural authority and the warmth of a pastor's heart, bestselling author John MacArthur examines the breadth of the entire Bible and reveals in this compelling book the Heavenly Father's care for every life. "I have sat by the grave of our daughter and son and wondered out loud if my belief that Hope and Gabriel are in heaven has any solid scriptural support. John MacArthur offers truth from God's Word that puts the doubts of any grieving parent to rest. Safe in the Arms of God reveals that confidence of heaven for the child you love is based on much more than mere sentimentality; it is revealed in the Word of God and reflective of the very heart of God." ?Nancy Guthrie, author of Holding On to Hope

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout history, arguments for and against the existence of God have been largely confined to philosophy and theology, while science has sat on the sidelines. Despite the fact that science has revolutionized every aspect of human life and greatly clarified our understanding of the world, somehow the notion has arisen that it has nothing to say about the possibility of a supreme being, which much of humanity worships as the source of all reality. This book contends that, if God exists, some evidence for this existence should be detectable by scientific means, especially considering the central role that God is alleged to play in the operation of the universe and the lives of humans. Treating the traditional God concept, as conventionally presented in the Judeo-Christian and Islamic traditions, like any other scientific hypothesis, physicist Stenger examines all of the claims made for God's existence. He considers the latest Intelligent Design arguments as evidence of God's influence in biology. He looks at human behavior for evidence of immaterial souls and the possible effects of prayer. He discusses the findings of physics and astronomy in weighing the suggestions that the universe is the work of a creator and that humans are God's special creation. After evaluating all the scientific evidence, Stenger concludes that beyond a reasonable doubt the universe and life appear exactly as we might expect if there were no God. This paperback edition of the New York Times bestselling hardcover edition contains a new foreword by Christopher Hitchens and a postscript by the author in which he responds to reviewers' criticisms of the original edition.

Book excerpt: As a girl, Alia Joy came face to face with weakness, poverty, and loss in ways that made her doubt God was good. There were times when it felt as if God had abandoned her. What she didn't realize then was that God was always there, calling her to abandon herself. In this deeply personal exploration of what it means to be "poor in spirit," Joy challenges our cultural proclivity to "pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps." She calls on readers to embrace true vulnerability and authenticity with God and with one another, showing how weakness does not disqualify us from inclusion in the kingdom of God--instead, it is our very invitation to enter in. Anyone who has struggled with feeling inadequate, disillusioned, or just too broken will find hope. This message is an antidote to despair, helping readers reclaim the ways God is good, even when life is anything but.

Abused, exploited, and brainwashed by 'The Family', Natacha's childhood was stolen. Born to French hippy parents attracted to the religious movement by the unusual mix of evangelical Christianity, free love and rejection of the mainstream, from an early age Natacha was brainwashed to believe she had a special destiny - that she was part of an elite children's army bestowed with superpowers that would one day save the world from the Anti-Christ. Torn away from their parents, Natacha and her siblings were beaten on a daily basis and forced to sing and dance for entertainment in prisons and malls. Natacha never expected to live to adulthood. At the age of 18 Natacha escaped, but quickly found herself hurtling through a world she had no understanding of. Alone, and grappling to come to terms with an unbelievable sense of betrayal, she was stuck in a kind of limbo - confused and unable to feel part of either way of life. Natacha is one of the lucky ones; not all of her family survived the battle to shed the shame and pain of their past. To date over 40 ex-Children of God members of Natacha's generation have committed suicide. All Natacha ever wanted was to feel normal, but escaping the cult was only the beginning. Shocking, moving, but ultimately inspiring, this is Natacha's full story; it is both a personal tale of trauma and recovery, and an exposé of the secret world of abuse hidden behind commune walls.

Immaculee’s family was brutally murdered during a killing spree that lasted three months and claimed the lives of nearly a million Rwandans. Incredibly, Immaculee survived the slaughter. For 91 days, she and seven other women huddled silently together in the cramped bathroom of a local pastor while hundreds of machete-wielding killers hunted for them. It was during those endless hours of unspeakable terror that Immaculee discovered the power of prayer, eventually shedding her fear of death and forging a profound and lasting relationship with God. She emerged from her bathroom hideout having discovered the meaning of truly unconditional love—a love so strong she was able seek out and forgive her family’s killers. The triumphant story of this remarkable young woman’s journey through the darkness of genocide will inspire anyone whose life has been touched by fear, suffering, and loss.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Religious belief is not just about abstract intellectual argument; it also impinges on all aspects of human life. John Cottingham's Philosophy of Religion opens up fresh perspectives on the philosophy of religion, arguing that the detached neutrality of much of contemporary philosophizing may be counterproductive - hardening us against the receptivity required for certain kinds of important evidence to become salient. This book covers all the traditional areas of the subject, including the meaning of religious claims, the existence of God and the relation between religion and morality, as well as the role of spiritual praxis and how religious belief affects questions about the meaning of life, human suffering and mortality. While preserving the clarity and rigor that are rightly prized in the analytic tradition, the book also draws on insights from literary and other sources, and aims to engage a wide readership.
