Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Safari with Jesus Christ is a compilation of testimonies of people who have witnessed Gods mighty power. Reading this book is like reading the Bible in bed; it facilitates reading the Bible in a new and interesting way. Readers will no doubt be inspired to start or continue with their safari in Jesus Christ. .However, when that darkest night arrived and I steeled myself to put my plan into place, I called out to Christ for the first time in my life and He heard me. Out of my despair, I cried out to God, asking Him to help me and take away the sad feelings that had taken full control of me. I cant recall exactly the strange things that happened during my prayer, but I was overcome by emotion and cant remember ever crying so hard. I went into a deep sleep, and the following day was delighted to find all my sadness gone. God had infiltrated my foolproof plan! From then on I vowed to surrender my life to Him and have never regretted my decision. Only when Gayle totally surrendered to God the re-scheduling of her Covid interrupted African safari trip, did God respond by weaving a tapestry of people, places, animals and experiences that revealed His creation as He had planned it and the genuine people He has entrusted it to. From South Africa to Namibia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Kenya, this true month long story re-affirms God's active interaction with us if we will initiate a "Godversation". He loves to have a chat with us. With God in your Jeep, He will challenge you with assignments that make you eager to do more. He instructed Gayle to share this inspirational story. He wants His children to remember Him and to come back to Him! As God is my witness, this is all true! Gayle Bolton from Savannah, Georgia is a mother of 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren. For her 69 th birthday she took off solo for a month-long safari in Africa with God as her only companion. Safari is a Swahili word meaning journey. God taught her to embrace her safari that He had uniquely planned for her. She learned to listen to Him and to follow His direction. The joy she experienced being on God's assignment reinforced her conviction to be a child of God. God has a uniquely designed safari for everyone. Embrace your safari!

Book excerpt: In Safari-based Theology Dr. Enos Lwamba has developed an approach to theology and mission based on his proposed safari motif for the development of theology and mission. Based on his Ph.D. dissertation: The Safari Motif in the Development of Theology in Africa, Dr. Lwamba argues that God has used a series of divine redemptive safaris in the Bible to reveal Himself progressively to people. The author develops his proposed motif around a tri-dimensional conception of reality and time and explores a threefold aspect of the safari: mwanzo, sasa, and mwisho, which provide keys to the African mindset. He explores the various meanings and uses of the safari idea from both a biblical and theological perspective. In addition to the literal safaris, journey is an analogy of the church and believers are on a divine safari, individually and collectively. The safari model highlights the absolute necessity of the biblical message and the contextual situation to help Christians live effective and fruitful lives in society now and in future. Inspired by both John Mbitis The African Concept of Time and Paul Hieberts The Flaw of the Excluded Middle, the author utilizes biblical, theological, historical, and contextual sources to make his point. In the philosophical aspect of the safari, the author develops his notion of an African conception of time modeled on the cultural safari idea which he relates to development of theology and mission. He refutes the western influenced or commercially based notion that safari refers to a game hunting or tourist expedition to Africa. Dr. Lwamba promotes the argument that the philosophical framework and methodology drawn from the safari approach provides a more effective way of doing theology and mission in Africa and other contextual situations. He also draws parallels to the safari concept from such sources as Augustines City of God, John Bunyans The Pilgrims Progress and others in a refreshing and original style that the reader will find engaging. The motif provides interpretational and practical application tools as it harmonizes the unity of the biblical message. Its practical appeal makes Safari-Based Theology a must read for Christians and others interested in their daily journey of faith. The author contends that just as the idea of logos described the mindset, conception of divine truth, and aspirations of the Greek mind, the concept of safari does the same for the African. This book is highly recommended for pastors, missionaries, and teachers, as well as students of Bible and theology, culture and missions, and other related disciplines.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world has always been a battleground; the fight started in heaven and came to earth, just as the body, soul, and spirit of man have always been a battleground. Most people are unaware that fallen angels contaminated the DNA of man through sexual relations with women. So the fight is not only a natural fight but a spiritual fight as well, and the soul of man is the prize. So if God couldnt avoid the fight in heaven, how do you think you can avoid the fight here on earth? If you dont learn to fight and understand the fight, you become a casualty. Recognizing your enemy and knowing his tactics will give you the edge, but knowing how to fight, who youre fighting, and what weapons you need to win the fight are key. Genetically, you are what you are and you live with the understanding that no two people are alike and no two spirits are identical. You can come from the same womb, but you will not have the same DNA naturally or spiritually. So whether youre the man on the goat trail or the man in the safari suit, I believe this book will help you get a little closer to victory.

Book excerpt: Join author and minister David Murray as he introduces you to Jesus through the lens of the Old Testament. When you think of a son trudging uphill, carrying wood for his own sacrifice because his father has decided to give him up to death, what biblical event does this bring to mind? Is it Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22, or is it Christ's passion in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John? The kinship between these two stories is deeper than mere coincidence, and the similarities don't end there. In fact, Murray argues that Christ isn't just present in the story of Abraham and Isaac--he's present on every page of the Old Testament. In Jesus on Every Page, Dr. Murray guides the reader down his own Road to Emmaus, describing how the Scriptures were opened to him, revealing Jesus from Genesis 1 all the way through Revelation 22. Dr. Murray shares his ten simple ways to seek and find Christ in the Old Testament, diving deep into: Christ's planet--discovering Jesus in the story of Creation Christ's people--discovering Jesus in the characters of the Old Testament Christ's promises--discovering Jesus in the covenants of the Old Testament Recognizing Jesus in the full breadth of scripture is important for every Christian. In this step-by-step guide to discovering Jesus in the Old Testament, Dr. Murray provides a framework that will help you start practicing this wonderful way of enjoying Jesus throughout the Bible. Whether you are preaching Jesus through Old Testament readings or just beginning to discover the reality of Christ in the Old Testament, Jesus on Every Page is an accessible guide to getting to know the Old Testament for what it truly is: full of Jesus.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Elwood Davis and his wife Bernice arrived in Mombasa, Kenya in January 1911 as medical missionaries with the Africa Inland Mission. This book features letters, diary entries and rare photographs showing the story of God's humble servants laboring to share the truth about Jesus Christ in Africa. Their grandson, Art Davis, has combed through the family archives to produce this book. The first section tells the pioneering story of Elwood and Bernice Davis in Ukambani and Kijabe. The second part shows the following generations in Kenya - Linnell and Martha Davis and their four sons, Van, Art, Ray and Alan. The book, which spans 100 years of God's faithfulness to the Davis clan, focuses on mission work in Africa but also tells of various family members serving as missionaries in South America. Art Davis, well-known for his ability to spin a tale, provides plenty of fast-paced adventures in this book from his years as a boy in Africa - running into rhinos in the bush - to his family's time among the Pokot people in the Rift Valley. From Elwood Davis's foot safaris in the bush to Art Davis's helicopter trips in northern Kenya, the purpose of the Davis family in Kenya for 100 years has remained the same: to serve a faithful God and point others to God's saving grace.

Book excerpt: "Is there an idea or a dream that is lingering in the back of your mind this Christmas season?" asks the Reverend Robert H. Schuller in Joy to the World: Inspirational Christmas Messages from America's Preachers. "Is there some long-lost hope that you just cannot forget? God often comes through these thoughts. It is God at work in you." "Track what we call our good fortune and we shall see God clearly in our lives," says the Reverend Gardner C. Taylor in his message. He asked the question "Did you ever sit among your family and, strangely, feel a thankfulness which made you somewhat shamefacedly brush a tear away? You heard the angels sing!" "Christmas is a time of establishing and celebrating many traditions," begins the Reverend Paula White in her reflection. This is but a sampling of dozens of messages on the true meaning of Christmas included in this first book to celebrate the spirituality of Christmas by bringing together a diverse collection of messages from Christian leaders from across the country. Contributors to this collection represent congregations from Hawaii to New York to Atlanta and all the regions surrounding and in between. These inspirational words are from men and women who minister to and console young and old from all walks of life and who reflect the range of ethnicities and Christian religious traditions that characterizes America today. This timeless treasure trove of inspiration and teaching has something for everyone and is the perfect gift for the season of giving. Joy to the World shares the spirit of Christmas throughout the year.

Book excerpt: Concerned to think intentionally about liturgy in Baptist life and thought, this book aims to address the practices of Christian worship in a theological light, examining how each brings individual Christian believers and communities of faith to a greater understanding and embodiment of the gospel. In this mode, worship becomes a seamless garment that forms disciples of Christ and opens out toward the world. In short, theology, worship, and mission all intersect in the liturgical life of the body of Christ. In addition to theological engagement with liturgical practices, Gathering Together links reflection to praxis by offering sample patterns as a guide for reenvisioning the shape of Baptist (and other free church) worship.
